1. Depends what you're offering PM me and we can discuss. Thanks Ted
2. SOLD Aguilar Tone Hammer Pre/DI Pedal Mint condition, original box, free sticker! Light studio use only, it is basically in as new condition. This is an excellent pre-amp/DI pedal, it sounds amazing. 18v operation (2 x 9v) for masses of headroom. The AGS option is great too. I'm only selling as I'm after a Tone Hammer Amp which has the same features built in. More info: http://www.aguilaram..._tonehammer.htm http://www.aguilaram...ammerManual.pdf £130 delivered
3. MarkBass LM3 amp 500watt Really excellent condition as it has only been lightly used for home studio use and two small gigs. Bought new about a year ago. Original box and packaging, lead and manual. Sounds superb and the eq and filters are excellent. This has some useful extra features compared to the famous LM2. £380 collected (kingston upon thames) i'm guessing an additional £15 to courier. Will add pics tomorrow when I am in the studio. SOLD
4.
Nice little trick there! There's bound to be some players who want that neck+bridge sound and are willing to forego an in-between sound, though I get the feeling those guys should just go buy a Tele and be done with it if they don't want an in-between sound
I've been looking at Tele's recently! Now the American Standards come with a contoured rear I'm more interested, I never really liked the slab body. Just tried a swamp ash AS in natural and it was fantastic, sounded great and seemed to weigh under 6lbs.
5. if you want to keep bridge/middle but don't mind losing middle/neck then you can swap the position of the bridge and middle pickups instead, this gives you: 1. middle (was bridge) 2. middle/bridge (same) 3. bridge (was middle) 4. bridge/neck (was neck/middle) 5. neck (same) there are additional differences in this setup as the two tone controls effect different combos. alternatively, buy a telecaster
6. I found this on another forum and tried it out for my Stratocaster, it gives you the Neck/Bridge combo and it sounds excellent! Just take off the pickguard, undo the middle and neck pickups and swap round. So what was middle pickup is now in the neck, and what was neck is now in the middle. You leave the wires as they were. So now your 5 position switch gives you this: 1. Bridge (same) 2. Neck/Bridge (was Bridge/Middle) 3. Neck (was Middle) 4. Neck/Middle (same) 5. Middle (was Neck) Bit tricky to get your head round at first, but if you are a fan of the Neck/Bridge combo - as found on Telecasters - then I would recommend giving this a go. You lose the Bridge/Middle position, but I prefer having the Bridge/Neck option. Easy to put back if you don't like it!
7. Oh dear, seller is obviously an idiot. I've asked many minor detail questions on ebay but if I was looking at 'hard case - will fit a bass' I certainly would not think I had to ask "will this case fit a bass?"
8. Kim Deal during The Pixies years Alex James Fred Thomas (not sure he is under rated though)
9. nut width is 1 5/8th inches, which i believe is 41.3mm
10.
They changed the wood from sen ash to alder initially, then quickly to basswood. The neck profiles changed. The slab rosewood was changed to veneer i think in late '83 or '84. The tortoishell material changed to something nothing like the originals (As per the current awful crop of CS releases), and from 3 to 4 ply (on the '62's obviously). The tuners changed from a period correct closer-thread gear, and smaller holding screw, to a larger screw, and multi thread tuner. Threaded saddles were replaced for slotted i think in '84,a nd the brass shielding plates were ommitted too at some point. The decal was changed to a large Squier decal. The pickups were changed. The wiring was plastic coated. No chrome covers were installed, or mutes on the jazz. From memory, i think thats about it, although I'm no expert on JV's after '83. From what i've heard, the quality of woods and electronics were even less after this time. Serial numbers shouldnt be used exclusively for dating these, as per original instruments. Neck/pot dates should also be used, but, as with the originals, certain characteristics can also accurately date an instrument, which on the earliest JV's, you can often date it to within a month, just by the details. As wioth anything Fender, there are always the odd exceptions to general rules though! Hope this helps. This is only based on my experiences though, I wouldnt claim to be a JV expert. Rick
I'd like to get my hands on a 0xxxx series to compare. I have seen some JVs with plastic wiring and slotted barrels (not mine) but I wonder if these were at the very end of the run. My 1984 squire A-series P had the plastic wiring and different pickups and I agree this type of electronics is not as good.
11.
Good catch Dan, but without pics, it didn’t happen!! I’ve said on here many times before that these are far and beyond the best reissues ever made. Unlike the Fullerton reissues that also started in ’82, these used the original pre-CBS blueprints, so the contours on necks and bodies are the same. The feel in the hand of these is unmistakeable vintage, and the tone is also very well replicated, better than anything I’ve seen, played or owned from even the Custom Shop. The first batch from end of April, to end of May..ish, were way to good, and far better than their own reissues from Fullertons, and so the Americans soon made them reduce the specs, and change the decals. But it isn’t just the rarity, and exclusivity of these early birds, that make them so desirable, although that has become a factor, but the playability, feel and overall vintage vibe. You simply cannot replicate, or capture the feel of a real vintage bass as well as these offer. I have 3 now, and they are all ’62 reissues. I still need to add a ’57 to the fold…it will happen at some point. Some really bad pics taken hastily with a iphone, too much flash and light;
Hi Rick In what way did they reduce the spec? I'm curious as I have a 2xxxxx 62 jv and a 7xxxxxx 57 jv, both very nice. I know they changed to poly finish after the fender logos. Anything else? Cheers Ted
12. You're welcome to come and try it, no obligation.
13. I'm amazed. i bought my 7x series (i.e. not fender logo) JV from Ebay about 18 months ago for £686, and there were lots of bids. There was a Fender logo'd 62 JV that went on here about a year ago for £1000 - sold in about 20 mins. So I'm very, very surprised that one on ebay went for £641. I also bought a 62 Squire JV from a chap on here about 5 months ago for £600 - I definitely paid too much for that as it turned out the frets were all lifting and it cost me a fortune to sort it out...
14. Anyone going for this?! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Squier-JV-57-precision-rare-first-series-/171240590482?ssPageName=ADME:B:WNA:GB:3160
15. Native Instruments Maschine, mk1 (orange lit pads) full version (i.e. not educational) and currently running the latest os 2. (will also run 1.8). Seems crazy but this has hardly been touched, so it is in 100% excellent as new condition, boxed, original packaging, dvds, manual etc. The transfer of ownership is a simple process (I have been in touch with NI to confirm) and you will be able to download the latest os and sample set once registration is switched. It really is like new, and don't be put off by the fact that it is mk1, as mk2 maschines simply have different colour lights on the pads. £240 collected, £15 post
16. Met up in a Travelodge car park on the M4 to sell Freddie my Aguilar cab. Very nice chap and excellent to deal with, thanks
17. Just bought Pete's Gramma pad. Excellent deal all round. Cheers!
18. Lexicon PCM81 Classic high end FX processor, does the famous reverb algorithms of course but this was also Lexicon's foray into the multi-fx world of Eventide, so you get subtle to out of this world weirdness. Excellent condition, has been racked all its life, screen is as bright as the day it was made and all knobs and buttons are 100%. Includes original printed manual describing all the hundreds of FX. £395 posted (pics on request)
19. £575 + delivery JV Squier, made in Japan in 83, serial JV72170, A very light Precision at 7lbs 15oz. Condition is 9/10, a couple of light marks, no tarnishing to the chrome, all electrics are crackle free, sounds great. Neck date is 8-19-83. All original parts and electronics, including raised-A pole pieces, cloth covered wiring, etc. The scratchplate in the photos is one I had made by the BassDoc, but the original single ply white will be included (happy to fit if you prefer). Neck is dead straight, low action, vintage small frets, neck feels fantastic and plays like a dream right up to the highest frets. Photos show strung with flats but is currently strung with roundwounds. Generic hardcase included for protection when couriering. I can email you more pictures in high res - PM me. No trades thanks. Ted
20. SOLD Aguilar GS112 with tweeter, hardly used, with original thick padded Aguilar cover, 1m speakon lead included. I have a pair of these and I am hanging onto the NT (no tweeter) cab and selling the tweeter cab. It is in really excellent condition as it only gets used for home practice and studio work. Woofer and tweeter are original of course, no scratches or marks to the grill, the cab covering is excellent and even the plastic corner protectors are only lightly marked. Sounds great. I am only selling as 2 x GS112s is overkill for my needs. Happy to supply more pictures, serial, etc. No trades thanks. £315 delivered, £290 collected (kingston upon thames) - ONO
21. Bri bought my TI Flats, easy to deal with, excellent comms. Thanks
22.
You're thinking of the normal Stubbys, the Big Stubbys are much er... bigger. I recently changed from Big Stubbys to 3mm Primetones.
Thanks for the info, I'll pick a Big Stubby up out of interest. Is your Primetone this type: http://www.jimdunlop.com/product/primetone-semiround-grip Or this type: http://www.jimdunlop.com/product/Primetone-picks ?
23. Agreed they are popular and pretty good I expect but both the KRKs and the Mackies seem to be around around £240 for a pair, which puts them well out of the budget unless going second hand.
