1. This is wicked low pass envelope filer pedal with adjustable sweep speed (slow or fast) and dial in the resonance. Can also dial in a massive sub low end to your bass using the low pass and the mix control! Phat Fat Phfat! I love mine
2.
I appreciate it's a work in progress but like Mr Horse once said, "No sir.... I don't like it". The marketplace has always been the spark of life for this forum and now that the new listings have lost their linear, conversational vibe for me the forum seems slower and... duller. Rare, coveted or keenly priced items generate more replies in sale threads and stay near the top of the board, whilst less exciting overpriced items sink quickly only to return to view briefly with the echo of a "bump.... bump........ pricedrop.... anybody?". That's a dynamism that the new classifieds lack. I can't see the interaction between members that would normally take place in the old marketplace spilling out into the other forums and I can't imagine why it would. Questions asked in the new classifieds seem non existant and as the number of basses for sale grows I guess will mainly come to consist of.. "is this item still for sale?"
+1 this is it in a nutshell.
3. Ped Can you tweak the classifieds section so that it displays more of the headline? Either smaller type or larger space etc. At the moment it cuts them off really early so you get loads of headlines like: Fender Precision Bass in Blu.......... 5 String Warwick B...........
4. topic in 'general' deleted till classifieds is finished. thanks ted
5. Kurtis Blow - The Breaks Digging through my early hip hop there are some really good basslines to be had - in house Sugarhill Band etc - before it all went drum machine.
6. hi ped maybe you could create a thread somewhere for opinions / ideas re this specifically. i've just created one in 'general' where i would like to get some feedback to be helpful, but please feel free to delete it if you want to make an official one. like i say in the other thread, i think this forum is great and i appreciate the time and effort from your side. the frustration is simply because i like the current marketplace and i feel we're losing rather than gaining. i will stop going on about it now. ted (three letter names rule!)
7. deleted until classifieds section is finished
8. This a a classic 'it wasn't broken but we've fixed it'... Who was complaining about the old 'market place' forum?? It was, and is. running perfectly well. The old system was much better.
9. £[s]60[/s] £[s]50[/s] £40 price drop!!
10. annual fee won't work in my opinion, listing stuff is generally spur of the moment behaviour. you could get members to pay a fee and only members can list but i wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people bailed out. i would rather pay listing fee, but as mentioned i think you should generate income by alternative ways if possible. main issues on the new classifieds is that it feels too restricted with the 'questions' 'features' etc. and its quite impersonal but i can't quite work out why. maybe the 'conversation' aspect of the current system is the thing. at the moment there are enough listings that it doesn't get out of control and its mostly UK based. gearslutz is a nightmare for buying and selling to be honest because its too worldwide and too many users.
11. i guess that's where the banner advertising comes in. lots of forum based classifieds are free - gearslutz for example.
12. i don't know that one. ask santa for a turntable and give it another go?!
13. Any vinyl lovers here?! Just bought this new old stock beautiful Stanton 680ee cartridge and stylus - brand new unplayed! I have carefully installed it and it has had no more than 4 hours play. I bought several cartridges in a fit of GAS and so I'm going to move this on as its not that different to my previous 500 cartridge (which also sounds great). just paid £104 (imported from USA) so i'm looking for £80 posted. this was the listing on ebay that i purchased, you'll see its only a couple of weeks old: http://cgi.ebay.co.u...em=370609570474

15. MIJ 84 Fender Squier 32" Med Scale Precision Bass A0xxxxx series, so its one of the first lovely japanese Squiers. (serials went JV then E then A as far as i know, please correct me if i'm wrong) Currently strung with TI Flats. This is a lovely bass, really great neck, lightweight partially due to its smaller body size, don't know the wood - alder i'm guessing, very very little fretwear. It does have several dings on the body - around the strap buttons and underside, scuffs and scrapes - and one tiny (insignificant) ding on the upper side of the neck at around 3rd fret. Please download the full set of images for more info. The neck is very nicely set up, low action, great sound. For Sale £395 posted - ono No case. Thanks Ted http://www.yousendit...RNDRlaFJjR01UQw
16. i'd prefer to see additional banner advertising rather than commission. there is a community feel to this forum and any sales i've been involved in have been almost always terrifically polite and well organised. personally i'd like to leave it as is.
17. don't like the new 'classified' section AT ALL!! now we've got two sections to sell??! and the picture uploader doesn't work today in either place - basic or advanced can we just have the old sales forum please? don't like the new 'gumtree' style of the new section. it wasn't broken - why is it getting 'fixed'??!
18. This is hardly used, and for one good reason - its rubbish. Some ok sounds wrapped up in the cheapest, most unintuitive drum machine ever to grace the face of the earth. The pads are like cushions, totally unresponsive, soft and yet hard to push. I've had several drum machines over the years and this is the worst by a long way. How its become the best selling machine ever is beyond me. I paid £60 from ebay. Its in almost mint condition as the guy that had it before me obviously hated it too. I have spent two days using it as a glorified metronome. Yours for £40 posted, i just want it out of my sight!! Hardly used excellent condition, original PSU, box, v3.0 software.
19. I have a medium scale (32) japanese made Squier P-Bass, serial A0 which i think makes it 85/86. I was thinking about upgrading the pickups / electronics on this. I don't have another P to compare, so I might be wrong. Does anyone know anything about the quality of pickups/electronics on these? It has the square edged type of pickups (not the sloping kind), look like standard size to me. Any pickup recommendations as a starting point? I'm after an old school P-Bass sound, Meters, Fred Thomas etc. Cheers Ted
