1. My studio is next to this company and they do good work, screen printing and embroidery. Small company. SW london. Website is no good but don't let that put you off! http://spinnakersports.co.uk
2. Thanks everyone, will drop you all a PM.
3. Anyone experienced pros here offer this service? I need people to call on for commercial music projects, usually very short duration. Quick turnaround. Likely to be electric rather than upright.
4.
Well, I didn't want to bring this side of it into the discussion really, but the main person who dislikes my Yamaha is the singer, who is a young lady (well, young compared to me anyway). Her husband, who is the drummer, doesn't care what I play as long as we nail the songs every time. And for a prog crowd, that's obviously what's important. Anyway, after last night's vocal rehearsal and subsequent discussion, it is apparent that I can use whatever I like. She just wanted to have an image of a new, modern prog band, fronted up with old style guitars. But as it turns out, the guitarist who has a PRS is also preferring to use that so it's kind of a moot point now...
I'm kind of in the 'old guitars look best' camp for bands. There's something a bit pro / 'session-y' about a lot of PRS-ish guitars and some more 'expensive' basses, especially 5 strings or even worse 6 strings
5. it's officially the bass of prog rock!
6.
I learned a set of 10 tunes (originals) for a one-off gig. We knew there would only be 1 rehearsal as the artist was visiting for a short solo tour, he's normally based in Berlin. Got the set list in December and we all worked through it to learn it as best we could. The gig went very well, artist was pleased, etc. but I just cant get the tunes out of my head now. I wake up with them going on, they visit at quiet times during the day, and at bedtime. Any tips on clearing the tunes out? Cheers MBA
I've always been impressed by the ability of better musicians than myself to quickly learn and retain songs/solos etc. I always approach the learning of a favourite song with somewhat of a heavy heart, knowing that I am going to spend SO many hours listening to it over and over and ballsing it up, that by the time I can actually successfully play it i will have ruined any enjoyment of it forever...
7.
Daily. And mostly from Squier owners! :-) I probably need to get a life. CB
Yikes, I was one! Corrected my JV Squier post, cheers
8. Beautiful early JV Squier, genuinely gutted to let this go but I have overspent on other studio items so I'm going down to one bass . I would describe it as a little roadworn - some bumps and knocks to the finish. All original except the jack socket and frets - expensively refretted 18 months ago at Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience, plecked and setup to perfection. The frets are a little larger than the originals, plays like a dream. 42mm at the nut, the neck is quite thin for a Precision and has rounded shoulders. 8.45lbs. Strung with TI Flats. Happy to email you high res. * WITHDRAWN FOR NOW * I'll consider offers but if you can find another bass near that price as good as this with even half the mojo I'll eat my trousers. Please come and try it out. (KT2 6EN) No case but will be well packaged.
9. ProAc Studio 100s Sought after passive nearfields in many pro studios, especially in the US, and are also an excellent pair of hifi speakers. These are cherry finish, all original and have only been used in my studio at mild listening levels. They sound superb. I have owned these from new, bought in 2009, these are in MINT condition and I have the original boxes and packaging. £950 collection from Kingston KT2 or + £25 for delivery [GONE - sold elsewhere]
