    Most of the people on here tend to agree that the best order for your effects to go in is the one that sounds right to you. Everyone sets them up differently and some people disagree about what order sounds best (putting your compressor first vs. last, for example). But if it's noise and tracking etc. that you're worried about, you should check out Shep's blog. There's a decent section on there entitled "Signal Chain Basics" which will give you more information than you'll likely ever need to know.     It obviously depends what you're into yourself but I'd recommend Sick Sad Little World by Incubus. It's a really groovy song and a lot of fun to play. The second half is pretty much entirely instrumental as well. Good luck with your audition anyway, regardless of what you decide on. Paul

    I think you'll find it pretty hard to find someone who wants all of these pedals and is willing to buy an entire ready-to-gig board. My advice would be to split it and, if you ask for the prices you have listed, you'll get more than the 770 you're looking for. Might be a bit of a pain in the arse but you're more likely to shift it all and there's always the option of keeping a few pedals if you change your mind at any stage. If you do decide to split it, i'd potentially be interested in the patch cables. But good luck with the sale either way. Paul

    Can't seem to upload a photo, but I used to use the Tour 700 with an ABM410 and my guitarist used a 6505 though a Marsall 4x12. I never had any problem matching him for volume. I never even strayed past the halfway point on my amp for the 2 years or so I used this rig and that was about 500w at 8ohms IIRC. I can only suggest that the 4x10/2x10 combo may be inefficient. Maybe you should try using just the 4x10 for a rehearsal and see if that helps? Paul

    Haven't tried any of their pedals but I've used a few of their DI boxes and cab simulators and they've always been really good. I'd be tempted to check them out but as mentioned above, that enclosure design is ridiculous. They definitely weren't thinking about space-saving. Paul

    Really like the look of that. I've seen a couple of basses with that same bit where the neck joins the headstock. It's quite comfy for your hand if you play down that end a lot, which I do. Not sure what the purpose of the huge through body part on the back is but again, it looks nice. Paul

    We once genuinely played in a chicken shed. It was a favour for a mate who wanted bands for a party he was throwing. We were under the impression that the guy had hired a little stage for his garden. Instead he was a farmer with a spare chicken shed. I had to have my foot against the kick drum the whole time to stop the drums from collapsing and the guitarist had to put a brick on the footswitch to keep the amp on it's distorted channel. It has become a saying when we have a bad gig or we play a sh***y venue - "There's always the chicken shed". Paul

    I'm using a diago gigman just now which is great but maybe a bit too much for your needs. Another one I've used in the past was the Boss BCB-60 which would suit you perfectly as it allows for up to 6 boss sized pedals to be used and has trays you can run your cables/daisy chain through to keep everything neat. These are also extremely sturdy. Alternatively there are pedaltrains (and gator do similar, cheaper boards) which are also really popular. Not sure what size you would need as I've never actually owned one. You would maybe get away with a "mini". They don't have a lid as such but they come with padded cases so your settings changing shouldn't be a problem. EDIT: Just noticed the "compact" part in your original post! I would say the pedaltrain mini would be your best bet if it's compact you're after. Paul

    Yeah, for me, the most important would be some sort of preamp/overdrive to add a little bit of dirt. Even better if it has a DI out for those gigs where you're maybe not gonna be using your own rig so you always have the option of just going straight to the desk. Having said that my EQ pedal has helped me out greatly a number of times. Everyone is different though and if I played in a band that had a different sound or was a different genre, my pedal needs would no doubt change dramatically. Multi-FX units are a great place to start though so you should play about with all of the different types of sounds on there to figure out what's going to work in your particular band setting and then maybe start looking into individual pedals which give you a similar/better sound.     I suppose it depends on the kind of gigs you play as well! If you have a nice raised stage and a tame crowd then it can be pretty easy to take care of your gear. But for when you play in the corners of dive-bars where everyone is climbing all over each other and swinging from chandeliers (band included) then things can get a bit out of hand and you're going to get a few dinks!     Yeah I've been using mine in a 2U flight case from flightcasewarehouse.co.uk for the past year or so! Cost about £90-£100 and worth every penny! Paul

    An ABM 410 will be more than loud enough to gig with. I've been using one for the past 5 years and I've never had the volume on any of my amps past halfway! It was pretty heavy compared to some other cabs I've seen but nothing too ridiculous. EDIT: just to add that I play with an extremely loud drummer as well! Paul

    Looking to sell my Ashdown ABM410 cab. I'm selling as I've just received a new cab and won't be needing this one anymore. Cab has well gigged over the years and so has a few scuffs and tears in the tolex but is otherwise in full working condition. It's done me well over the 5 years or so that I've owned it. This is one of the older models so it has the old grill design which is the same as the current MAG series. (Logo in top left corner as opposed to in the centre) Cab is rated 600W @ 8ohms. I'm looking for around £100. I'm based in Montrose (NE of Scotland) and would ideally like it to be picked up or I can deliver/meet up within reasonable distance (50 miles or so). Alternatively, I could post if time was allowed for me to source the packing materials and arrange a courier etc. Not really looking for any trades but will always consider some weird and wonderful pedals and the likes.
