I've recently had my #1 bass back after a prolonged period of fault/repair absence and, because there are loads of very lovely high end basses knocking about, I'm looking to sell or ideally trade some of my other basses with a view to getting something yum. First up is this Lakland 44-60 in Ltd Edition Inca Silver finish with matching headstock. These are exceptionally good basses which really nail the vintage jazz bass vibe but with modern features such as through body stringing and hipshot ultralite tuners. The neck is really slick and there's loads of bite and bark in the tone if you want it, but there's rich and mellow there too if you roll off the tone pot. It's currently wearing a set of flatwounds for some old-school thump which it does really well. It's superbly put together and is an all round great player. A few signs of use, including a minor ding on the back of the neck (which you won't notice when playing). Looking for [s]£645[/s] [s]£595[/s] £575 ono. Price is for collection but can do insured delivery for £600, don't mind meeting up if practical. I'm in Chepstow but gig all over S. Wales so Newport/Cardiff meets possible too. Ideally, I would like to trade this alongside other basses, for something different. Anyone who would like to try any of the basses out with a view to a deal, if you can get to Chepstow you're more than welcome. PM me or e-mail me petewarduk at me dot com or call/txt on 07515929935 UPDATE 29/09/14 Bass is now sporting a new set of roundwounds and I played it all gig long Saturday night. It was outstandingly good. If it doesn't go in the next few days I think I will be withdrawing it from sale. Thanks and yeah, the MarkBass combos are so great. I always get people asking me if I'm going through the PA and they can't believe it when I say I'm not!

A sweet old lady recorded this on NYE 2013/14 at Charlton King's Social Club, Cheltenham. Sound is pretty decent. Using earphones you can really hear the bass clear as you like which, for the record, is a Yamaha BB1024x into a MarkBass CMD121P with a cat's lick of compression coming from a BBE OptoStomp. Bought Sam's Lakland DJ5. Sam was very easy to deal with, kept me informed at all stages of sending etc. Bass is great, exactly as described and came well packed. Would be happy to deal with Sam again. Pete

I've used DR Extras for the past 4 or 5 years, doing maybe 100 gigs a year and felt they lasted really well. Would change maybe 2 or 3 times a year. They sounded like a set of nickelwounds which has maybe done one or two gigs - crunchy but not overly bright. They'd stay that way for ages. The last set I used had the new K3 coating which I believe is what's on the Neons too. They've lasted way over a year, but that's because they are horrid compared to the older ones and I've avoided playing the bass they went on - but I'm too tight to just throw them out lol. The K3 ones are definitely closer to a non-coated steelwound string for brightness, but they also started to fade quicker The "burning fingers when sliding" comment is also very familiar. A couple of our numbers I slide up and down the E string (from G 3rd fret to octave and back) a four times in two bars and it is impossible to do on the K3 coated strings, by the second one my fingers are on fire. All in all, I'm really disappointed with them now and I've just bought some Super Slinky, see how they go.

I recently sold one of these - http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2332658 - and was immediately filled with regret and so picked up another, however the same reasons for selling the first are still around, plus I could really do with raising some cash in a hurry to fund another purchase. This one is in absolutely pristine condition. There's not a mark on it that I can see. It plays great and sounds divine. You're welcome to come and try it out. I'm looking for £475. Open to cash offers for a quick sale, prefer collection or meet up. I'm in Chepstow, S. Wales. It will come with a worn but usable and well padded, non-original, gigbag. If I need to post it, I have the original box and plenty of packing but sent that way at the buyer's risk. P&P in the UK at £20 if required. Can talk about hard case options if needs must. Not really looking for trades, but you never know. A 1025x or any Laklands or pretty Sandbergs might tempt me Pics of the bass https://www.icloud.c.../#A65n8hH4cYm9W Drop me a PM or call/txt 07515 929935 Cheers, Pete
