1. One sold, pending payment. One left, £280 posted in the UK Picked these up in a deal for my TecAmp combo but a couple of gigs over the weekend with my MarkBass combo has convinced me that it is the way forward so would like to move these on. I've had a noodle with them at home and they sound fantastic, remind me of Aguilar DB112 quite a lot - pleasantly punchy and with excellent tight low end and an edgy top end that's nicely tamed - and of course they weight next to nothing and look the business. Condition is pretty much A1 and they are both in covers (the kind with the red piping, forget the name). Each cab is 8 ohm, 300w RMS. For a sale, looking for offers around £550 but quite open to trades too. UK Delivery would be £20. Looking for a nice jazz or p bass can add some cash for the right kind (vintage J, sadowsky etc.) or take some cash for a part-ex deal. A fretless or StingRay 4/5 might be of interest. What else have you got? Aguilar pedals are looking good to me at the mo, Octamizer and Filter Twin especially. Outside chance I would do a deal involving a MarkBass CMD121P combo. PM me or drop me a txt to 07515 929935, worst that happens is we don't have a deal.
2. Just picked up a MarkBass CMD102P combo which came in a Flightcase Warehouse "live-in" flightcase that is of no use to me. The flightcase has removable front and back doors and is on wheels (with brakes) so your amp or cab is meant to sit in the case itself. I was told it was made specially to fit the CMD102P but having got it in my possession, I doubt that to be true as the combo was an extremely tight fit, wedged and held in place by the inch thick foam lining - so wedged in fact, I had to remove a chunk of the foam in order to remove the combo. Obviously, that leaves the interior a little messy, but there is still enough foam in there to a decent protection job. Having contacted flightcase warehouse, they think it will be suitable for a huge number of cabs/combos and that internal dimensions are what any potential buyer will need. I don't have the dimensions to hand, but the MarkBass combo that was in it is: HEIGHT 18.9 in. / 47.9 cm WIDTH 23.4 in. / 59.4 cm DEPTH 18.7 in. / 47.5 cm The internal dimensions of the case will be a little greater than this, but there is an inch thick foam lining all the way around so available space is actually no more than this really. No idea what to ask for this really as this would have cost about £250 new but it's not going to be something everyone wants/needs and isn't the most postable item. I'll ask for a very soft £100 collected, open to interesting trade ideas and cash offers. Ultimately just want to sell as I don't have much spare room left so first seemingly sensible offer will likely be accepted. Will try and post some pics later. PM me or give me a call txt to 07515 929935
3. Derek Forbes from Simple Minds used a fretless Wal no? Or was that with Propoganda

Slightly ashamed that I've only just found out this news through the Shuker web site. Had the pleasure of meeting Si (and Rich) a few years back and have been in touch often since both professionally (I make web sites) and personally (he's passed me some great gigs), sadly never quite got around to meeting up again, almost did so as recently as a few weeks before his passing and now so wish that we had. So sad.
6. Bump for new lowered price of £750 ono
7. Glad it's not just me then. They had a really beautiful Overwater 5 on there last year with a spalted maple top for a price I remember thinking was outrageously low at the time. Still didn't sell for ages though.
8.
what are the supposed differences between the Korean and Indonesian models? These have a 35" scale right? Im desperately looking for a white one with a RW board but Im going to keep an eye on this nonetheless :-)
Sure I saw a white and RW one on here recently. Korea v Indonesia: no differeces that I'm aware of, other than they were originally made in Korea and had exceptional quality but then they shifted manufacturing to Indonesia (presumably for cost reasons) and I've not heard anything about the quality (good or bad) about Indonesian made ones. That lack of reputation just makes me a tiny bit less confident, but that could be completely and utterly unjustified as the company's reputation as a whole is for exceptional quality.
9. Bump - anyone? Lots of interest and nearly deals but not quite there. Offers around the £1600 mark or interesting trades/part-ex offers all welcome.
10. Anyone else think this is completely nuts http://www.absolutemusic.co.uk/store/index...n5/p_22218.html A second hand bass for almost as much or possibly more than you'd pay to buy a new one, even if you had to import it and pay for it yourself? I appreciate that being a shop they need to make a profit and will ahve to pay VAT on the sale and are providing a 12 month warranty, but even so, a second hand bass priced at least £1300 over and above the typical price they sell for on here? I just spoke to them and they said the cost reflects the purcase price from the US, import duty, VAT (which they can claim back as a VAT registered business) and the cost of having it professionally set up and the provision of the warranty. If the price was sensible, I genuinely would have considered taking the cash offer I have for my BN6 and buying this BN5 but having chatted with them, we're galaxies apart on value. Just checked and you can order new from the Bass Gallery for £2299 http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_deta...3&type=Bass Guitar Am I missing something or being unduly harsh?
11.
That's criminal  What's the scale and the string spacing?
Specs are here http://www.fbass.com/html/BN%20Models.htm
12. Wow. My jaw actually dropped at how stunning that bass is.
13.
Oh so beautiful. I doubt my Stingray 4 is what you're looking for unfortunately... Have a bump
Not likely unless a fretless with a wad of cash, in which case, maybe.
14. Feeling a little bit sick as I write this, and definitely a bit disappointed in myself but I have to accept that as utterly lovely as this bass is and while it is certainly the best bass I've ever owned, I'm just not a 6 string bassist. By that I mean, I just don't play enough in situations where I get to use the bass as a proper six string. It is far and away the best six string bass I've had the pleasure to play and when I'm noodling at home, I love what I can do with it. But come gig time, it's a 5 string bass with a string in the way of my small hands. I just can't work that high C into what I'm playing and so it is, unfortunately, an impediment when I need to play the E and B strings. The bass itself is an FBass BN6 with the Black Ceruse finish and all black hardware and it comes with an FBass Levy's gig bag and all the control info, tools etc. Here's some pics. The bass is in almost immaculate condition. There are a couple of very small marks on there, but you would need to have them pointed out to you or spend a long time looking. It sounds divine. You can do pretty much anything you like tonally and the action/set-up is just to die for. In a perfect world, I'd like to turn this in a similarly finished FBass BN5 and certainly would like to hear from any BN5 owners who might be looking to do a deal for this. Alternatively, vintage Fenders could be of interest as well as other high end 5 stringers. Could possibly do a part-ex deal on other gear, US Jazz 4, Lakland DJ5. Whatever else you might have, feel free to ask, worst I can say is no deal. All that being said, remember this isn't a cheap bass so please be realistic with your offers as new this would cost £2500+ and was originally on sale here for £1800 before I bought it. I didn't pay that much so there's plenty of room for a deal to be worked out. I suppose I'd be foolish not to also be open to cash offers, but as mentioned previously, a deal of some kind for a BN5 would be my first choice. Drop me a PM if you're interested.

16.
although for some reason, Lakland never put the Daryll Jones signature on the headstock! The only thing I can find on it is a very, very small mark on the headstock (check photos).
Isn't that because these were a limited run in this finish and configuration of natural body with black blocks, no binding on the neck - which is unofficially the Adam Clayton model? Is this a Korean or Indonesian made one.
17.
I'm sure I read somewhere that the only physical difference between an SM57 and an SM58 is the exterior design, the 58 having the dome head with a little foam protection inside to cut down on wind noise etc. and to keep the sound source a larger minimum distance from the pick-up than is possible with a 57. The electronics inside are/were the same - and again, I stress this is just something I'm sure I read some time ago and may of course just be something I dreamed up! lol
Found it... "That brings up another question that comes up all the time. What’s the real difference between an SM57 and an SM58? There are actually a fair number of myths and misconceptions about what the difference really is. "The basic difference is the grille. The other parts -- the diaphragm and voice coil combination, the magnet, the transformer that’s in the handle, the handle itself, the closing ring that surrounds the cartridge – are identical. "In the SM58, the ball grille with the foam lining provides an extra degree of pop protection and wind protection. The SM57 has a much more compact grille arrangement that doesn’t provide nearly as much protection against blast or wind. But the basic frequency response and polar patterns are almost identical – there is only a slight difference in high frequencies where the shape of the grille starts to affect the response. But that probably doesn’t kick in until 13, 14 or 15 kHz – something like that." From here http://www.shurenotes.com/issue30/article.htm
