1. Bump, open o offers on all of this stuff.
2. A little bump. Had some interesting offers but none quite on the mark yet. Anyone else? Price is negotiable, especially for cash deals.
3.
Swap for an MM stingray 5'er? Have got a couple of pics ok my facebook site and could get some more if required Drop me a pm if it's of interest, I'm pretty local too! 4. I've uhmmmed and ahhhed for a couple of weeks about this but eventually decided to see what the interest level is. This is a Sandberg California JM5 which was a NAMM 07 showcase piece (as detailed in the neck pocket) which I picked up a few months back. At the time it had been converted to a passive bass with a BadAss bridge on it, through body stringing added and a dunlop straplock button placed at the back of the body near the neck joint. I've since had the Glockenlaing pre-amp restored with the appropriate control knobs and replaced the BadAss with the correct Sandberg bridge which basically puts this bass back as close to original as it can be. The through body strining ferrules are still in place but probably won't work with the Sandberg bridge (I've not tried) and the dunlop straplock button is still installed as it doesn't get in the way and may be of use to someone down the line. The one possible spoiling factor with the ferrules is that they aren't in a perfect line, though they're not visible really when playing so not a big deal hopefully. That's the story over with, here's the bass. As, you can see the body is a stunningly grained natural ash job which is nicely complemented by the black guard, neck inlays and nut. The bass is 34" scale but the Low B sits really well and is nice and tight sounding, possibly down to the zero fret. The action is low and the neck, intonation etc. has been well set up. Tonally, when I first got the bass back in restored condition I described it as "Epic" to a fellow basschatter. And it I'll stand by that, with the proviso that it's not quite as epic as my DJ5 (a familiar tale for me). There's oodles of tone here, probably more MMan than jazz, though with the coil tap engaged, it does a damned good jazz impression, better than some Fender jazzes I've played. Pick-ups are a Delano Jazz and Delano Power Humbucker and they deliver a very beefy punch with loads of mid-range presence for you to play around with using the controls, giving stacks of variety. Controls are Vol - Bal - Treble Cut/Boost - Bass Cut/Boost with the Volume control being push/pull active/passive and the treble control working as a passive tone control when passive is selected using the volume knob. There's also a two way mini-toggle switch which allows the rear coil of the humbucker to be tapped. Bass comes with a Sandberg gig bag that's in decent nick. For a sale, I'd like to get £750 delivered in the UK (or £730 collected) or offers in that region (the same bass would cost in the region of £1150-£1200 new, and probably won't have such nice figuring). Ideally though I'd like to trade for something of lesser value with a some cash also coming my way... e.g. Fender US jazz or P, Lakland 55-01, Warwicks maybe, Geddy jazz, Yamaha or Ibanez 6 perhaps. Jazz and P wise I like maple necks in an ideal world. All things considered but please don't be offended if what you have to offer in the bass department isn't my thing. Would consider straight swaps for Lakland DJ5 or Fender Jazz 4 FMT/QMT. Maybe a few other similar things. Drop me a PM or give me a call on 07515 929935.
5. I have played this bass and it haunts me! I wish I could afford it. If you can, don't hesitate.
6.
Is this still for sale?
Sorry, it's sold already, forgot to change the original post.
7. If bought online and you have all the original packaging in tact, you can return them under the Consumer Protection Act (Distance Selling Regulations) 2000 within 7 working days for a full refund (less delivery costs). You don't need a reason to do this, simply contact the seller and explain that you wish to return them, you can tell them why if you wish and they will probably replace them if they have any sense.
8. I'm in the "quite like it" brigade.
9.
Any luck Pete??
Not yet, though one of the contacts Si supplied has got back to me so hopeful still. Had to pull this Friday's gig though.
Just out of interest why male? As far as i can see your songlist could just as easily be sung by a woman
Mainly because we have been booked as a four piece, male vocal band so while it may be possible for a woman to sing many of those songs, it wouldn't be what the clients have booked.
10.
emailed some phone numbers ..........
Awesome skills.
11.
He's gigging with us on the 19th and the 31st - sorry!
D'oh
I'm passing your note around the people I know in Bristol and S Wales... How about depping in a bass player and you doing the singing? Would that work? May be easier to find a dep bassist than a front man who can learn your style etc..
Thanks Si. I'd love to think I could do it but I can't sing enough of the tunes in the current keys, if I could, wouldn't be so much of a problem as I'm generally okay with singing and playing once I've got my head around it. If anyone surfaces that'd be fab but agents have given us until the morning to find someone or they'll give gigs to another act (which may be for the best anyway. Cheers, Pete
12.
Forwarded your message to a guy I know, Swansea based Best of luck whatever - been there!
That might work, thanks man.
13.
That's bad news Pete! Our singer's busy with us on 2 of those nights otherwise I'd suggest it to him.. Will have a think to see if there's anyone I know of that could fit the bill. Just sorry I can't be of more help... P.S. that's some set list by the way....
There's about another dozen or so to add to that too, though some of those on there need to come off really as we don't do them any more. What night's your singer free, if it's Friday coming or NYE (doubtful) could probably make it worth his while. Pete
14. I'll cut to the chase, our singer's wife is about to have a baby and that has forced his hand into pulling out of the following gigs... 19th December - Abergavenny 29th December - Ebbw Vale 31st December - Blackwood At a stretch, we can maybe do them as a three piece but we tried that on Saturday just gone and our guitarist didn't cope overly well with things and I can't sing enough of the songs to be able to do most of the singing. There's £400 for any male singer who can step in at short notice, ideally with one rehearsal before this Friday and if you're coming from a distance then there's a bed for you too. Song list is here http://www.thick-as-thieves.co.uk/thick_as..._song_list.html and most of them are in copy key. Whoever it is would need to be experienced as a singer and be able to stay the pace for a total of up to 2.5 hours (with a break) and they'll need to get in touch with me, ideally today. This is not a gig for someone who's just fancies trying their hand at singing. My number is 07515 929935 my e-mail pete at peteward dot co dot uk If you are up for it, please get in touch or if you know someone who might, please put them in touch with me. Thanks.
15. Top man, pleasure to deal with when he bought my OptoStomp.
16.
ill take the digitech synth wah bud!
Cool , can you send me a PM with your details and ho you want to pay etc.?
17. I use DR Extras, pretty sure DR Sunbeams would be fine too (though I don't like those so much).
18. Ta. On the Leo Quann web site they suggest using a V bridge on a 4 string bass for the added mass is actually a good idea and the holes all line up too apparently! Seems odd to me.
19. Here's the link to for sale thread for the TRB http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=26746&hl= . Think it is still available and the seller is a nice guy to deal with.
20. S/H Yamaha TRB1005? There was one in the for sale section a wee while back that I used to own. It's finished in a transluscent red colour and looks great. Fits the bill for you tone wise too.
21. Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus 18v - A fantastic pedal that lots of bass players overlook, possibly because of it's 9v sibling not cutting the mustard but this 18v version is delicious and beats the pants off most dedicated bass chorus pedals and is a total bargain to boot. £30 posted Gator G-BUS 8 power supply SOLD DOD FX2O Stereo Phaser SOLD Open to trades too - looking for studio monitors, DR Extra strings (5 string), 100w (ish) power amps, bass practice amp (ashdown mini stack thing maybe?), kick drum mic, drum mics, headphone amp. PM me or leave a response if you're interested.
22. Hopefully you know the score here. This is a direct replacement for the Fender V bridges but will naturally do the job on many other basses too. Is suitable for basses with through body stringing. It's in great nick and the saddles are already grooved so it's a case of just putting it on your bass and off you go. Not sure how much to ask really, think they're about £75 new so how about £50 posted? Drop me a PM. NOW SOLD
23. Can I suggest that if the venue is more Bristol way it opens the door to the Welsh - or maybe we need a bash of our own? Or maybe there could be a Wales and the West bash covering the South Wales, Herefordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Avon area which then would allow for the South West bash to be moved further South and/or West to make it more appealing to those in Cornwall/Devon. Though BassChat being what it is, I'm sure the welcome would be extended beyond boundaries.

Just to add a little balance, my band has used a Behringer powered mixer for the last 3 years, doing about 250 gigs in that time. It's the single best bit of kit we have bought.
