We once had to learn Green Day's "Good Riddance" for a wedding. Think the bride was thinking of the chorus "... I hope you have the time of your life" and didn't actually know the name of the song or what it's actually all about!
As an aside - here is a picture of Warren Ellis playing what looks like a miniture T-bird. Thank you for your time! Pluck
That's a 4 string Mandobird isn't it?
Man, GAS is getting the better of me here! Quite tempted... you say this is the 2nd version, how many iterations have there been since/in total? Mark
In a nutshell... POD POD 2.0 (the one I'm selling) POD XT POD X3 The XT and X3 versions also act as a USB audio interface and currently sell for two to three times this much.
does it work with bass????
Yes and no. There's no specific bass stuff on here - which is why they make the Bass POD - but you can use it for silent practice, as a DI and for the FX. Can also use the modelling too I suppose if it takes your fancy.

Fair play to Kev for posting a response. I can see from the eBay listing that it was a fair description of the bass which was given in it. While I thought it was a bit cheeky of him to list the bass here with a huge mark-up, at the end of the day it was his to sell how he saw fit and he hasn't misled anyone as to it's condition etc. so I don't think he's done anything wrong.
Hi again...nice to see this for sale thread is generating plenty of interest What i would like to know is this: Who put the transfer on? was it the original seller Mike? or the guy he bought it from? Or was it Kev Hide, who i bought the bass from? It most certainly wasn't me To be honest i also though the transfer was a bit suss when i received the bass. So come on guys, who put the transfer on? I've contacted kevmanbass/bassmankev or whatever his name is and asked for his side of the story. I'm gonna make one more price drop on this bass as i really want to buy a Jack Casady, so I'll sell this wonderful bass with a colourful and mysterious history for the price of a Jack Casady which from Thomann £422...plus post. As someone pointed out the parts on the bass is worth the asking price alone, the allparts neck alone retails for £214 from Allparts UK, the rest of the hardware is also high quality. This is my final price drop....I'll use the fecking thing as a canoe paddle if it doesn't sell at his price
At £422 that's a fab price. If I had cash, or if you were in a trading mood, I'd be trying to do a deal.
Allparts necks have proper Fender logos - official, like, as they are licenced replacements for damaged bits.. Never seen one with the custom shop transfer though..
You sure about that Si? Always seen them for sale without any logos. They are licensed though.

FWIW I PM'd the current seller (Alistair) and brought him up to speed on things. In doing so, I think he is 100% genuine and bought the bass in good faith believing it to be as he describes it in the original listing. He seems like a decent bloke and fair play to him for acknowledging the history and lowering his asking price by £100 within an hour or so of the bass being listed. Hopefully, as others have said, the bass can be bought and sold on its merits. I dare say that if it was broken up for parts it'd be worth £500 so I don't think any potential buyer is getting ripped off at the current asking price.
I bought it on ebay so can't confirm it's pedigree but i think you may be right in assuming that the neck is an Allparts neck...it does have the Custom Shop logo but i did wonder myself...aren't the Allparts necks endorsed by Fender?
Any chance the eBay seller was in Bristol? If so, it's almost certainly the same bass as was sold on here back in January and controversially re-listed (then withdrawn) from here a couple of months ago. It's an amazing looking bass and one I'd have snapped up back in January had I the cash at the time as would many others but - and for your sake I hope I'm wrong in saying this - you might have unwittingly walked into a maelstrom with this. Good luck with the sale though, hope I haven't spoiled it for you by mentioning this. I don't normally approve of commenting on prices in for sale threads but I do think the listing is, unfortunately inaccurate. Though I appreciate you're an innocent party as such.
ive seen this bass on here before! caused quite a stir if i remember rightly!! hmmmmmm good luck with the sale mate
Yup, and if I recall correctly, the body is the only bit that's actually Fender, the neck is an Allparts one and it originally sold on here for under £400. Hopefully we're both confused and the similarities are coincidence. Perhaps the seller could confirm it is 100% custom shop (well the body and neck anyway).

Bump Have the opportunity for a DJ5 if I can raise the cash in a hurry so this is definitely for sale. £700 ono with the J-Retro, £600 ono with original passive controls installed. Possibly accept some kind of part-ex deal that sees £300 to £400 coming my way. Jap P or J bass for example, Ibanez 6 String perhaps...

Nope, full retail version and they have sold loads of them.

I just bought a copy of Logic Studio Pro 8 from here and http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ApplePro-Logic-Studi...1QQcmdZViewItem I was a bit concerned that it would be too good to be true. I needn't have been. Received a fully boxed product that works a treat. Complete with massive manuals, all the Jam Packs and everything else that you would get if you paid £300+ from Apple. Can't fault it really.

I bought this from a fellow basschatter recently and it's a nice tool for getting your bass/guitar/vox etc. into your computer with quality amp and effects modelling all rolled into the package. It works with both Windows and Mac and I have the driver CD and the Ableton Live Lite CD that came with it. I had to download new drivers from the Line6 site for my iMac but they were easy to find and installation was a breeze. Full details here http://uk.line6.com/toneportux2/ I'm only selling as I've now got a Motu interfeace and a newly arrived copy of Logic so this is surplus to requirements now but it works a treat and will make someone very happy. Looking for £75 posted in the UK. Possibly trade/part-ex for other recording gear (small controller keyboard for example) or for BOSS PH-3 Phaser or FL-3 Flanger
Was the "soft focus" on the first photo done on purpose to sex it up? Either way, that's bloody gorgeous, and it'd go very nicely alongside my Lake Placid Blue JO5 (without a J-Retro I hasten to add). I'll bet yours sounds sweet. The distinct lack of paper fundage on my part is a huge problem though. Saying that, I have a 91 Warwick Thumb 5 NT if that might interest you in a deal? If not, whoever buys it will get a lovely instrument, and at £700 with the J-Retro, I think that's a bargain. Have a free bump on me.
LOL The soft focus was a product of lighting in the room and not being arsed to wipe the lens on my iPhone! Would be a great compliment to your blue one for sure but Warwick Thumbs are definitely not for me. They look and sound fab but I just can't get comfortable with them.

I've had this bass for a couple of months and it's come very close to replacing my DJ5 as my main bass but a couple of gigs on the weekend with the DJ5 just reinforced that it's the bass for me so I figure I'll put this JO5 out there and see if anything interesting comes of it. As you can see, it's a lovely 3TSB finish with a replacement black pickguard (still have the original mint one too) with a maple fretboard on a maple neck. The pick-ups are Lindy Fralins and sound amazing, especially (IMHO) with the J-Retro installed. There's a massive range of tones available to use and even the tiniest tweak of one of the controls makes a difference. The basic tone gives thick lower-mids with tight lows and sweet, singing highs. The J-Retro allows you to add a healthy dollop of punchy low-end presence and can give the highs extra zing. The sweepable mids can either re-inforce the bottom end or really bring out that classic honking jazz bass tone. The set-up is great with a straight and true neck and very low action. Those of a more "digging in" persuasion may need to raise the action a smidge. The bass is in excellent used condition. It's not new but there's no major damage on there either. Basically there's some rash on the back that's visible when held to the light and the obligatory "headstock v low ceiling/light fixture" scrape at the end of the head. Have the opportunity for a DJ5 if I can raise the cash in a hurry so this is definitely for sale. £700 ono with the J-Retro, £600 ono with original passive controls installed.
Yeah, if you get a Motu, you should be able to use the TonePort on the side as a basic USB interface without too many problems, at least enough to do some live recording. Depending on what Motu you get, if it has optical SPDif inputs on the back you can add another 2 channels. With my firepod I have a Focusrite Platinum Penta preamp with digital card plugged in that gives me another input, so if you had a Pod with Spdif output you would gain an extra channel there.
Well, having asked the question, I went back and read the spec on the 828 mkii and if I've understood correctly it has 8 line level inputs on the back plus 2 mic/instrument inputs on the front which are all discreet so that's 10 analogue inputs which would cover it. There is one pair of S/PDIF stereo I/O and ADAT I/O too.
Could you not just hook them up via XLR to desk?
Not sure what you're suggesting there ped. Do you mean everything or just mixing a couple signals so that they can be fed to one of the lines in?

Thanks for the answers guys. I'm planning on getting a Motu 828. So that gives me 8 inputs. To record "as live" I need 10 ideally. 6 for the drums, 2 x guitars, 1 x bass, 1 x vox. I'ev already got a Toneport, so I suppose I could use that alongside the 828, was just wondering whether the POD idea was possible 'cause they're so cheap to buy really.

Anyone know if it's possible to hook up multiple POD (XT, XT Pro, XT Live or the new X3s) to an iMac via USB in order to record simultaneously? Assuming it is possible, are there any pitfalls or reasons not to do so? How will they work with a hub (okay presumably as they are individually powered)? I currently have a toneport UX2 which is nice enough, but I kinda miss having knobs to twiddle (ooo-errr missus), and could see an advantage to having seperate bass and guitar pods to record with. I'm hoping to add something like the Motu 828 mkii interface and figure that between it and a couple of PODs I'd have sufficient inputs to record a live take of my band. Anyone spot obvious (or not so obvious) flaws in my plan?
