1.
Hi, Please buy this quickly so as I dont change my mind again!!!!!!! I have decided to sell my DJ4. i have just fitted a j-retro to this and have gigged it once with the j-retro fitted. This is an amazing sounding bass and nails that classic jazz bass sound. Resaon I am selling I am really into the pbass sound more now so this bass is not getting played,it deserves to get played and be seen and be loved its beeeautiful!!!! Comes with fret FX leds which can be removed if its not your thing. The J-retro is brand new so I think maybe a fair price to include j-reto would be £800.00 this also includes a stag case. I will take paypal although fees would need to be split and I will post from Northern Ireland for £25.00. Not interested in trades Sorry guys!! Thanks for looking dont let me change my mind this time!!!!!! LOL Oh and for the eagle eyed among you the pictures were taken before the J-retro was fitted but you are all big boys and know what a j-retro looks like right?

Gorgeous bass, I'm looking to change my DJ5 into one of these. Oh well, out with the hacksaw then....
PM's you both with a cunning plan
  2. I'm really confused about the Jazz. What bits of it are actually 1966 Fender jazz bass parts and what bits are replacement (Fender or otherwise)? Maybe I'm being a muppet, but I've read and re-read your post 4 or 5 times now and I'm none the wiser.

  6. bump Offers anyone? I can supply with a fretted Fender MIM Classic series neck if preferred or with both necks for £300.
  7. bump Offers?
  8. So guitrist is saying that the band should split because you, the bassist, aren't googd enough? Surely most bands, if they have a member who's not up to scratch would look at getting a bassist who is good enough rather than split up. It sounds to me like the guitarist wants out (possibly because he thinks he's too good to play with you lot) but doesn't want to have to say this to the boss so is making you a scapegoat. Were it not for the fact that it is a work related band, I would not hesitate at all to say that you should just leave and let them get on with it as they sound like a couple of dickheads. Perhaps the compromise answer for you would be to say to all the band, i.e. not just the drummer boss or guitarist individually, that rather than split up, they should be looking for another bassist and that you will tough it out until they find one but only on the condition that they understand that your level of ability and experience restricts the kind of songs you can accurately reproduce the originally recorded basslines for. Personally, I would never think of learning 200 songs in one hit unless I'd just got off the phone from someone like Springsteen who was personally inviting me to play bass on an 18 month world tour and asking could I get up to speed with the back catalogue as rehearsals start next week. At the end of the day being in a band is supposed to be fun for the most part and you don't sound like you're having much. You sound like you are realistic about the level of your ability although a little green when you make a statement like "I try to tell him.....If the song is a classic, either the guitar is easy or the bass is easy. But never both." remember that, "Easy" is an enitirely subjective term - what's easy for one person may be a nightmare for others - and I'm sure there's plenty of classic songs that have what many would consider relatively complex bass and guitar parts. You shouldn't have to feel the way you are feeling when it comes to being in a band and you don't have to. That's the ultimate thing to remember. Avoid making band decisions or having band discussions even with individual members. When they're all together, get their attention, say your piece without being confrontational toward the guitarist and leave the door open for the band as a whole to make a decision as to whether they are more understanding and stick with you as the bass player or go another way. If you do that, at least you can't be blamed by anyone with a brain in their head.
  9.
hi there would you be interested in a swap for a yammy trb p 5 thanks trev.
Are there pics up somewhere?
Blimey Pete, you're going to de-throne Homer as the champion gear swapper.
Yes, I am gunning for the title lol

    Mistakes

There's a bit of a ham-fisted note (not wrong as such, but not what was intended) played by Adam Clayton at around the 3.40 mark on the track "Love Rescue Me" from U2's Rattle and Hum album.
  13. Used Shure E3s in the past and liked them a lot, now using the SCL-3 and they are great.
  14. Personally, I actually really liked the Streamer Standards for what they are and at the price point... at the time I bought mine it was the first bass I'd bought in about 10 years and first 4 string in a long time before that. Comparing it to the others in it's price bracket (Mex Fenders, Ibanez and Yamaha or two) I thought it was far and away the best tonally. However, I do agree with those suggesting that the SUB is worth a significant amount more than the Streamer Standard (on the second hand market). If it was my SUB and your Streamer and we were trying to do a deal, I'd probably be looking for about £200 on top of the Streamer. If the Streamer is a brand new one (unlikely surely, they stopped making them 3/4 years ago), then there's less in it, but still a good £50 in the SUB's favour. Retro-fitting a Warkick bridge... I expect it can be done, but isn't there some routing done on the Warwicks that have that two piece bridge system? Without the routing I suspect you'll struggle to get a sufficiently low action. Advantages of the Warwick bridge... multi-adjustable - can alter individual string height and also bridge height as a whole; individual string spacing can be adjusted; string change is quicker. One disadvantage, it can be a bit fiddly to make some of the minor adjustments.
  15.
All this talking about me, my ears are burning. Don't worry about the cheating on the Sterling, I'm already looking to trade the Ray for a P-Bass! T
LOL GAS is a killer.
  16.
He told me he's coming looking for you. And said how dare you cheat on his Sterling .
I'd feel worse had I not caught him stroking the chunky neck of someone called 'Ray the other night!
  17. This is another I feel a bit bad about as I only picked it up last week in a deal, but as mentioned in other threads, I'm trying to fund a cure some really bad GAS so need to clear some gear. This is a 2005 model Fender Standard Jazz Bass Fretless. That's a Mexican one for those who, like me, get a bit confused by the billion variations on a theme that is Fender's way these days. It is in exceptionally good condition, aside from the curious absence of 4 screws from the scratchplate which can surely be easily replaced. Not 100% on the correct colour nomenclature, but I believe it to be Electron Blue (it is a smidge darker than in the pics) which is very attractive and has a luscious, deep shine reminiscent of Candy Apple Red, only it's blue, if that makes sense. Take a look... Fender's QC is very hit and miss lately across all of the MIM and MIA ranges, but I have to say that the construction and finsh on this bass are excellent. The neck feels very comfortable and the fretlines are all nicely installed. You don't get the diversity and extremes of tones that you find on the MIA and MIJ basses, but what tones there are are very usable indeed. In fact I took it to a couple of gigs over the weekend just for a noodle with a bit of volume involved and all the band were very impressed with it. It comes with a gig bag (well nylon carry bag type thing, there's not much in the way of padding) and I'm looking for £220 (was £250) but am open to offers as I need to sell quick if I'm to get the bass I want before someone else does. I'd prefer not to have to post if possible, prefer to meet somewhere for a little fuel money, but postage can be arranged if this is not possible, though not sure who the best courier would be to use nowadays. I'll take PayPal on this if you'll cover the fees (about 3.5%) so long as your address is confirmed and account is verified. I can supply this with a fretted Fender MIM Classic Series 60s neck if preferred, or can do the bass with both necks for £300 ono PM me or e-mail to pete at peteward dot co dot uk or call me on 07851 671773.
  18. Okay, first let me say I feel quite bad about this because I only just picked up this bass yesterday, but I've seen another bass I have to have but need to raise some funds to purchase it so I kinda have to sell this (sorry Tony, hope you aren't offended and don't mind that I've used your pics). I spent about three hours grooving on this bass last night and it is a very cool customer. The Nordstrand pick-up gives it loads of tones to be exploited by the very capable 3-band EQ, my particular favourite that I hit upon very quickly was using the parallel mode with a smidge of bass boost which gave such an incredible punchy tone. The bass is in excellent condition, has a low action which I daresay could go a little lower if you've got a light-ish touch. The neck is slim but, to me, a lot more comfortable than a jazz bass neck, though the two are similar. The downsized StingRay body is also very appealing and the bass is one of the lighter basses I've owned. Oh yeah, and it looks amazing doesn't it? I have the original black scratchplate which I can fit if you prefer or I'll include for an extra £20. I also have the original pick-up too which could be yours for £30. Only looking for a sale on this really at the moment, but if tere's a Lakland or MMan 5 out there then please get in touch as I could be tempted and I don't know if I'll be able to raise enough to cure the GAS even if I sell this. It comes with a MusicMan case and I'm looking for £620 (was £650) but am open to offers on it for a quick sale. I'm reluctant to post this and would prefer to meet somewhere to complete a deal but postage can be arranged if a suitable ourier can be found. I'll take PayPal on this if you'll cover the fees (about 3.5%) so long as your address is confirmed and account is verified. PM me or e-mail to pete at peteward dot co dot uk or call me on 07851 671773.
  19. Need to sell some gear in a hurry for a GAS related emergency. I have a Behringer ULTRAPATCH PRO PX2000 just lying around so it might be of use to someone. Boxed and hardly used, it's a 4-way Patchbay that allows you to split up and re-route signals in a number of ways by using the combination of inputs and outputs and the switches on the top. Can serve several functions at the same time. More info here http://www.behringer.com/PX2000/index.cfm?lang=eng £25 ono posted. I'll take PayPal on this if you'll cover the fees (about 3.5%) so long as your address is confirmed and account is verified. PM me or e-mail to pete at peteward dot co dot uk or call me on 07851 671773.
  20. I need to raise some cash in a hurry for a GAS related emergency so this needs to go. Fender MIM Classic Series 60's Jazz Bass Neck. This was from a 2003 year model and has seen a little playing time but is in excellent condition. Comes with 60s style reverse gear tuners and playsvery well once fitted of course). Looking for £100 posted (was £125, then £115) as I need to sell. I'll take PayPal on this if you'll cover the fees (about 3.5%) so long as your address is confirmed and account is verified. Would take trades for Boss Phase Shifter, Flanger and possibly Chorus pedal. Would also consider Guyatone Micro Series phaser, wr-3 wah rocker or bottom wah rocker and micro bass eq, possibly flanger and chorus too. PM me or e-mail to pete at peteward dot co dot uk or call me on 07851 671773. 21. I need to raise some funds for urgent GAS relief so am putting a number of non-essential bits and bobs up for sale. First is this AKG WMS 400 Wireless Guitar Set. Works a treat for bass and there's loads of frequencies to choose from so interference is not an issue. COmes with all the componentsm body pack transmitter, rack mountable receiver, detachable antennae, jack to mini-xlr lead, UK power supply etc. all in an AKG case with manual. Full info on system is here http://www.akg.com/site/products/powerslav...EN,pid,787.html In addition it comes with one of OBBM's angle jack to mini-xlr cables which is far superior to the AKG supplied one. I believe this cost about £20. I'll also throw in a couple of packs of batteries. I bought this second hand a month or two ago and have used it ever since with great results but as I need to raise cash, I can go back to a lead for nwo. Looking for £125 posted (was £140). I'll take PayPal on this if you'll cover the fees (about 3.5%) so long as your address is confirmed and account is verified. PM me or e-mail to pete at peteward dot co dot uk or call me on 07851 671773.

Tony now owns my old MusicMan Stingray and in return I;ve been getting my groove on with his old Sterling. Really ace bloke to meet and chat with and I'd be very pleased to deal with him again and recommend him to anyone thinking of buying, selling or trading with him.
