    To be fair I haven't tried the other strings in the DR range and, to be honest, I don't think I will. I can accept that there will sometimes be bad strings but to have 3 separate packs all with the same problem (dead strings) is unacceptable. The fact that they are marketed (and priced) at a premium level makes my experience with them even more disappointing. But hey, you live and learn - it isn't the first and certainly won't be the last bad purchase I make....

    Just a little rant about the DR Black Beautie strings - I've had 3 sets of them now and EVERY single packet had a fault with them. The second and third set were replacements from the supplier after both had faulty (dead) strings and I've just strung my Vigier with the third replacement set and lo and behold its got a duff G string. Absolute and utter overpriced rubbish. I've gone back to Ernie Ball hybrid slinkys that I've used for years with not one duff set - they sound better to me and are consistent. I only tried them because of good reviews and fancied giving them a go - I should realise by now to not believe most things you read in reviews.... Rant over.....moving on !!

    Rig from gig last Friday (poor quality picture aside) 2x Barefaced Compacts Rack : Crown Drivecore XLS1500 Sansamp RBI Rocktron Blue Thunder (in effects loops of RBI) Korg DTR-2000 tuner Line 6 XD-V75 wireless Rolls Midibuddy pedal Vigier passion IV bass Shuker custom jazz (not shown) Sounded rather good and you can never have enough headroom !

    have a bump for a top set up - i have exactly the same combination of amp/preamp but with 2x b/f compacts - they sound killer

    For sale : As new (used at one practice) 4U Rhino foam sleeved rack case. I have added 2x long rubber feet to the bottom of the case (screwed into proper metal thread inserts) so it fits better on narrower speaker cabinets. Bought from Flightcase Warehouse only 3 weeks ago but have now moved onto a 6U rack Bargain price for a top quality rack (£99 new) Pick up only but can meet up if local(ish) to Leicester details of case here :- [url="http://www.flightcasewarehouse.co.uk/music/typeproducts2.asp?id=4538-3379"]http://www.flightcas...sp?id=4538-3379[/url] possibly trade for a Peli case - 1600 / 1550 / iM2500 type or similar sized SKB case

    shots of my new 'large' rig i've just put together.... Sansamp RBI (hopefully will have an RPM to add to the rack soon) Crown Drivecore 1500 Barefaced Compact x 2 pedalboard with : Line6 wireless TC Polytune Sansamp BDDI (not used with this setup - it's for my smaller rigs without the RBI) Used with either my Vigier Passion IV or Shuker Jazz It doesn't suffer from a lack of headroom......

    for sale : Genz Benz Shuttle 9.2 with original box, manual & padded aluminium case approx. 6 months old - bought from Bass Direct for £699, gigged 3-4 times and always transported in its case immaculate fully working condition selling only because I am after a GK MB800 having used an MB200 recently and really liked the GK tone - I would be interested in a trade for an MB800 if anyone is interested. £550 Would prefer collection given the value of the amp and my distrust of couriers !
