  1. I wanted something to complement my Fallout which I love but is like an angry wasp and saw this one come up so took a punt on it un-played. My plan was to put flats on it as I wanted something deep sounding. It came with flats and to be honest I struggled as it was so deep that it lacked presence in the mix. The original rounds were in the case so I put them on and was blown away with the resulting tones. The sound is as the name suggests "dubby" and very musical. The controls are vol/tone/balance. I tend to set the vol and tone where I want them and then change the sound with the balance. Neck pup is very dark, bridge is brighter and there is no noticeable change in volume when changing the bias between the two. You can hear Andy Irvine exploring one in the same way here: The playing position very comfortable either standing or seated. Yes it is wide but it isn't much thicker than most solid bodies. Fit and finish is great. The only thing that I may change is the plastic balance knob, which spins a bit to easily for me but that is minor and easy to resolve and to be honest I have got used to it. Overall I'm delighted with it! I would love to get my hands on a long scale Reverend to try sometime.
  2. My Reverend Dub King. Sounds like it looks. A great deep tone for dubsters, acoustic or light rock! The previous owner put the pup covers on it.
  3. Weights added. 3.6kg and 4.3kg. Note: anything 5 string less that 101k or 4.5kg is light in my book, especially for a SR5.
  4. Well these were/are my favorite 5's but I'm not playing them at all. The dimension works great live. It just sounds right to my ears.

Great precision here, a real players bass, currently with flats. I had been searching for a nice precision for a while and when I got this one my search stopped! PICTURES TO FOLLOW, Link here: http://www.basscentre.com/british-bass-masters/bruce-thomas-profile.html This has been gigged by the previous owner so has the odd mark here and there but nothing nasty. It also has some discoloration of the pole pieces Weight estimated at 4.3kg, around 9lb 8oz. I love the look and feel of this. Great color, classy pick guard and a bridge cover fitted...nice Note: I have since settled into playing short scale 4's and long scale 5's so this isn't being used. No case of strap included. Can post at cost.
  6. Trades/offers? Maybe a headless passive 5 or a trade for an interesting 4 passive with money my way. This is a G&L custom MJ-5 lightweight, with painted headstock and "empress" wood body. It only weighs around 3.6kg, which is around 7lb 15oz. Superlight and well balanced for a 5. It has a great action and is a pleasure top play. Great colour that really looks great under lights. It's great sounding bass that suits any type of music and is much more user frindly than the L series. I have used it in a very loud heavy band and to record on an acoustic track. Note: The band is now gone and I'm playingh 4's, which is my reason for sale. It was pretty much as new when I got it and remains in similar condition. It comes with it's G&L cert. and case. It is packed full of usable tones and will suit any form of music. £1,100 Demo here:
  7. Love these, got one already. GLWTS
  8. I have great memories of this gig (see link) as one of the best gigs and performances that I saw back them. Very memorable and technically brilliant. Zappa shared the stage with the rest while overseeing the whole performance. It was the best! https://vintagerock.wordpress.com/2015/03/23/frank-zappa-newcastle-city-hall-13th-february-1979/
  9. An old post now but I just picked up a used USA fallout from here and it doesn't disappoint in any way. I was cautious as I couldn't find very much about them so I wouldn't have paid the full price for it (or any other bass to be honest). My ears tell me that it is a great guitar so if you have the disposable dosh check them out!
  10. That looks a killer and a great spec. I was about to pull the trigger but reckon the 35 inch scale would throw me as all of my other basses are 34". A very good price for a capable instrument. Good look with the sale!
  11. Well I have to say that your post has but me off buying one of these unseen. One thought about the above comment though. G&L pickups are hotter in general and you can't max out the tones and volume and expect to get the best from them. I have had an L1500, L2000/2500, and a Skyhawk and ASAT Special 6 stringer and all of them play better with the volume dialed back a touch. That approach opens up a really rich world of beautiful tones from what I believe are fantastic instruments. Enjoy your new bass.
  12. Hi, any7 suggestions to avoid me going down the usual Amazon route? I normally use Thomastik or Elixur
  13. Brilliant bass, I want it but don't need it! Very cheap for that kind of sound quality but expensive for a toilet seat GLWTS
  14. Updated 1st post to include trades and in that this is probably a limited edition rather than Elite Custom. To all intensive purposes they are the same guitar (thanks Jay). Ed
  15. Hi, apologies for the late reply. I prefer not to export far the way things are at the moment. I had a possible buyer the USA but am not comfortable to ship far ATM Thanks.
  16. Thanks, A buddy gave me some "stuff", like round granules to try. Thinks it should do it, although I prefer to source a Burns replacement if I can
  17. Hi, not sure of the exact weight but it is somewhere in the middle? It isn't lightweight. I would guess at over 10lb but less than 10.5.
