  1. Thanks everyone, I'll try all these out when I get some time
  2. I love my SB2. Between that and my passive Dimension I have all bases covered Tone mod?? Why mess with perfection?
  3. I had a delivery of a bass last week. They left a card and said they had put it around the back of my house. By the time I got home it had poured down but luckily it was in a hard case so OK...not impressed/
  4. In answer to the leads and phantom power questions, I have pretty much ruled those out. At some point I'll double check with a little mixing desk I have tucked away somewhere.
  5. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated. It definitely seems dead I'll look into it more when I have time.
  6. Hi, I have a Rode NT1 microphone that appears lifeless. It has been sitting on a mic stand for months with a poly bag over the top to stop dust. There is no sign of a signal though my Scarlet interface Any suggestions or advice on fixing or if it is worth sending to get it fixed? Ed
  7. I use the B string quite a lot in our origonals songs. Both up and down the neck and I love to bounce between octaves. Like on the end of Fear of Flies : https://theangrybadgers1.bandcamp.com/track/the-fear-of-flies
  8. I agree with this, if the sound isn't there the electronics will struggle to bring it out. I have had a a few basses and my Ibanez ATK and BTB were great in this respect as is my American Dimension..they really sing and aren't .
  9. I guess it goes with the style of music
  10. My ears tell me that his control is good but my eyes say WTF!? I'd be lucky to last 2 songs playing like that but my hands are a problem and I've had to adapt my style. I also use the B as a rest for most of the time
  11. I struggle to play finger style and play mostly with a pick. My fingers are getting old and I struggle from RSI so I'm quite jelous when I see people play like this guy in the following video. Is that sustainable or is he going to end up with bloody stumps after a few years? I have to say that I like the results.
  12. Still here but not being pushed for a while
  13. The MIJ ones that I played had Bartolini printed across them so I assume so. They also used some Bart designed ones like Cort do now
  14. The prestige SR's have custon designed Barts and if you sind an old SR MIJ with barts it is worth a look. I have tried a SR1300, SE1000 and SR805 in the past and all sounded good ro my ear. I also had a prestige SR3005 that raised the bar to a whole new level. I found the controls a little over complicated for my needs, otherwise I would still have it.
  15. Those are the cheaper series 1 "made under licence" jobbies. They are cheap basses. You should try something like a Ibanez SR5000 or even some of the older MIJ Ibanez...great sound
  16. I've tried a few longer scale basses but came back to 34" scale and was happy until this thread. I'm now rethinking and on the looking for one of these. The only problem is that I mainly play small venues. 😂
  17. Hi, I hope that this is the right place to post this. So I recorded some of my songs what started out as a demo ended up as an album. A friend heard it, liked it and offered to make me a video (below). I'm over the moon with it and feel that it really brought the song alive. What is the best way to make use of it? Positive suggestions appreciated... note I do play bass (that G&L) on the recording but not in the vid.
  18. I remember thinking that when I played a MIM deluxe in PMT, "nice bass but what makes it stand out" I thought. It is a mind set when the market is already saturated. If I had thought "nice bass" and stopped there that would have been equally valid
  19. Yes I couldnt find one so thought I would start one. I like to follow the Bass Collection page on FB. It will only work if people post stuff etc. We'll see if it takes off or not.
  20. Yes it was Yolanda's video, the bass whisperers reviews and trying out a 4 string version that gave me the confidence to search out a 5. Note: Yolanda joined the page, which is cool.
  21. Fender didn't sell enough. They certainly seemed to have faith in their product and tried to sell a decent volume. That flooded the market and they started selling them off cheap. Why didn't people buy them? Try discussing that on the page. My opinion is Fender already have a big chunk of the market in Jazzers and Precisions and the competition is tough! Smaller volumes may have worked. It lasted longer than most other attempts to establish volume sales of a new design in the bass market. Such a sweet sounding bass and easy to play. (I have American Standard/passive v's) There are quite a few threads about it. It is definately not a Music Man replica. I know as I also have a Stingray. Note: The USA ones are pretty scarce new now. https://www.facebook.com/groups/382848225624135/
  22. Hi, seeing as Fender stopped making these basses I thought it would be cool to set up a page for them on facebook with the following aim: Post love, information, pictures and stories about these most excellent instruments. One of the best bass designs to come from Fender for years! Please keep posts nice, fun and focussed on these great basses. Anyhow, here is the link if anyone fancies joining or moderating. Strangely I can't embed a link but just look for "Dimension Bass Page (unnoficial)" and you will find it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/382848225624135/
  23. Well each to their own but don't let unlined put you off. I find unlined much better. I know where I am I just glance at the dots on the top of the neck and know that is where to place my fingers. My ears tell me the rest....I really stuggled with lines as I found myself trying to look at the fretboard all the time. Lines were a confidence breaker for me and were why I gave up on fretless for a while..
