3.
Mine is first in the chain as well, but I don't run envelope filters or wah pedals either.
Mine is near the front but I have my tuner and Wah pedal in front. It just sounds better to my ear that way around. I do have other envelope filters but I don't feel the need to tame them.
4.
Every Fender Jazz bass I've owned, and I've tried a few... Sound brilliant Look even better Love the sound... Play in a band with them and I'm like, "argh where's that nice sound gone?" I want to love them, but can't
I recognize this. I had Delano driven Sandberg JM's on two occasions and had the same problem. I have been wary of Delano driven guitars ever since.
5. Don't fight it buddy, if you start guitar you will come back and enjoy bass also IMHO I play both and love both
6. I'm really looking for a trade It's A superb delay pedal with memory slots and simple imtuative controls I'm looking for a Trelolo, reverb I notice these are going for around the £450 mark new now in a lot of places. Great condition, boxed with adapter and has velcro on the bottom
7. I owned a Saturn Shadow Eclipse, which was a beautiful instrument and very nice to play. The on bourd electris were also nice.. They have a great name....
8.
If anyone is interested how it sounds in a mix, here it is from live practice last night, not the greatest playing but maybe you'll get the idea. https://www.dropbox....%20new.mp3?dl=0
Cut's though well, nice one. I gig with an ATK805. I've tried a lot of basses over the last 4 years and It's the rest of the bands favourite along with a Bass Collection
9. Looper pedal recieved fast and as described, many thanks!
10. Why not sell find another bass that you are totally happy with?
11. Well I have a Crafter SA, which I feel really does fill the space between a solid body and acoustic 6 string. It's Maybe worth checking out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Tx_c2E9U9M
12. Wow that is super nice and lightweight too. Have a bump
13. I always fancied one of these, nbut never got to play one. I'm sorted now though. This one looks great GLWTS
14. An interesting thread for me as I'm looking at recording with an acoustic guitar. I have a couple of great MIJ Takamine guitars that I like very much but I wasn't convinced that they suited my voice. I have a deep voice and wanted something with more sparkle so am selling them and have settled on a Simon and Patrick Woodland model and an old Yamaha LL6, based purely on their acoustic sound, playability and how they complement my own voice. My thinking is in line with this bit below as both are electro acoustics.
Why is this relevant? You might want to prioritise ergonomics and acoustic performance over onboard electronics given how much sonic improvement is available from hardware/plugs, and you might not need to spend top dollar on buying an axe with a cutaway, which might let you hang on to one of your existing instruments (if you feel they have another worthwhile flavour to offer, or writing mojo etc).
15. Interesting scale chat. A good bass is a good bass. I've had a bunch of very handy 5 string 34" scale basses including Stingrays, a Sterlingray, Bass Collections, A G&L L1505 and tribute L2500 and an ESP Ltd Surveyor 405. The ESP's are definitely worth a look if you are on a tight budget .
16.
Thanks for that - that's very helpful. The non-rounded flat edge of the older models, you've pointed out, seems is a little Rickenbacker reminiscent and I can understand it being less ergonomic than something a bit more rounded. So I suppose that modification in the latest model is a plus (and also the re-positioning of the battery so that it is no longer cutting across the neck through on the back!). But hopefully neither will detract from the fact that you have got a LOT of gorgeous bass for the money!
I don't usually like 35" scale basses. Note: My build is wide body/short arms and I have dodgy shoulders. I really struggle with any bass that has me reaching with the left hand for the low notes. The BTB isn't such a long reach on the strap as it happily balances with the head nice and high, with the frets well in reach. It was one of the things I insisted on trying before I bought it. When sitting once again the bass doesn't feel like a stretch with my left hand. I suspect that is no accident.
17. Bump for a seriously cool guitar...very responsive to playing styles...I may need to keep it....another vid here: https://www.youtube....h?v=W7OmTtvlyVM
18. A lovely compact OD/distortion pedal. A great sound and in great condition. I got this in a trade and although I have had a play with it have no real use for it in my band Like the one in the vid. It has velcro on the bottom. No crackles and no marks...nice! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1BlU5kbCa70
19. A nice black L1505, pictures to follow G&L arguably represented the pinnacle of Leo Fender's R&D. This is a great playing and sounding bass with plenty of thump. This is my back up bass and is in nice condition for it's age. It has a couple of indentations in the body-great for a late 90's bass. Note: The pervious owner made a reversible mod. : "I have fitted 5 machine screws into the through-body holes, secured with nuts and washers that sit flush in the ferrules on the rear. They are easily removed if you want to string through-body". The bass sports one monstrous MFD (magnetic field design) pickup with adjustable pole pieces, a volume control, and passive treble and bass controls. There are also 2 switches: one selects series or parallel coils in the pickup; the other brings in the active circuit, which effectively takes the sound of the bass from vintage to modern. Current draw for the circuit is incredibly low - my batteries go out of date rather than running flat! Any trial Welcome
