1. I'd look for 2nd hand Ben, you will get something nice if you keep watching the adds on here. A G&L tribute is almost in reach. My own Bass Collections are around that price
 2.
is there anything there that interests you and which are ;left
I prefer a sale as I'm attempting to cut down on basses. I asm inyterested in the Jazzers Jeff but as I play 5's would need to keep a BC so I don't think the matths will work out. Personal Message me with any ideas.
 3.
Ok I guess this Q is vaguely related to our current discussion on PUPs and Ibby SR's... I do love the look of and definitely have GAS for a neck through bass, with the additional sustain that it brings. There's a neck through Ibby BTB with Aguilar PUPs - any views on i) Aggie PUPs? And (ii) more generally thoughts on the SR Premium vs BTB Premium ranges for those of you that have had them both? I note that the BTB 1805 is about £200 more new than the SR 1805 (£1,300 vs £1,100) so they're not a million miles apart on price.
I'm very pleased with the BTB1805, I played it several times before buying. It was a big purchase for me as I only ever bought 1 other new bass and was thinking about a custom build. The big differences are obvious, the "looks" the slightly wider string spacing, which I need, Also it is suprisingly light and nimble to play. You can hear why I bought it in this video. It is a pretty accurate reflection of the sound https://www.youtube....h?v=2osFbwuOyEE
 4.
what's the nut width Ed?
Hi John, it's 34mm string to string, 42mm neck width so a modern/easy to play neck.
 5. An interesting thread
The ATK doesn't really appeal to me. But that ATK-810-NTF Premium, (so it comes with the "soft/hard" case), and looks super cool with the wood pickguard, that several dealers have now discounted to £625....... Looking forward to hearing about that.
I am now using an ATK805 as my main gigging bass so here's my thoughts. I find that it bridges the gap between an MM and a precision very well, with more sound options than either. As a result has replaced my Stingray SR5, which is something that I never thought would happen. It has a 3 way switch, that is particularly well balanced and allows me to switch between a deep growl (and growl it does) to a more aggressive middy option without needing to touch the volume control. It has a great sound options that cut through like a knife when needed. An extremely comfortable bass with a meaty neck, lightweight and full of usable sound. I also have a BTB 1805, which I love and I find these newer generation Ibby basses amazing and user friendly. If recording I would use this as the evenness across, up and down the fret board is perfection. Add in in a great tone and it's bass heaven to play. I have owned a few ibanez basses in the past and loved an old prestige SR3005 that I had but found it at times complicated to dial in live. Nordstrands? I'm not sure why but the Nordstrands don't hit the spot for me. I tried them back to back with the Aguilar powered 1805 and ATK and they leave me cold...same with Delano.

 7.
Hi This used to be mine, would you take a Mint 4 string three EQ EB Stingray as trade against it, plus some cash? Remember we spoke and you said you would get in touch if you ever sold it, it was made on my birthday and I regret selling it. Cheers Steve
Hi Steve, price drop update heads up.
 8.
Here is a youtub clip of her playing it or one like it, sounds really good. https://www.youtube....h?v=nvaRgNNVPQ0
Yes I hadn't heard of her before but the guitar came to me with her 2011 CD and I was most impressed. I play it in the car regulary...only the best make it onto my travel play lists
 9. A lot of Gibson sound and coolness here for the money, no one interested?
 10. Save a couple of hundred off a new one? Guild, sounds great? If your interested get in touch...ebay beckons.
 11. This is a beautiful guitar and is one is one of the best players that I have had. Unfortunately it isn't what I need currently so needs a new home. Faith are designed by the renowned luthier James Patrick Eggle. The Venus is a compact guitar and one of Faiths most popular models. This one has a beautiful back and is a bit special. These guitars have gradually gained a considerable reputation amoung musicians. The build quality is superb and the construction This particular guitar has an interesting provenance as it was owned by recording artist Ellie Lawson. It is one of the older venus models and has both a DI and Jack out. This is much better than plugging into the strap button The instrument plays beautifully with a nice low action. It has some dings and scratches but nothing serious, just what you would expect from a guitar that has been played. The only damage worthy of mention is a laquer crack at the side of the pre-amp, due to a past owners clumbsiness no doubt. This doesn't detract from a fine guitar in my humble opinion It comes with a case. Any trial welcome or I will post at cost. 12.
This: http://www.ibanez.co...d=67&color=CL01 I personally love the tone of the big Nordstrand PUPs and I suspect you won't find an easier to play neck. But it's 34" and not 35".
I agree, alternatively a high end Bass Collection or what about a newer BTB if you want 35" scale. They are also pretty lightwieght (or at least mine is). The Prestige and some of the high end premium Ibanez have different pup and pre-amp combo's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2osFbwuOyEE
 13. I currently have three very different basses that I am happy to use at band practise as they all sound good. A Bass Collection 335, ATK 805 and my SR5. If a bass works for me and the band in practise I'm happy to take it as a backup.
 14.
Really? If I was the current drummer I'd be very pissed off!
The new drummer wasn't up to speed at that point...no worries. He was desperate for us to record the next one though
 15. Our drummer was no longer in our band when we made our first video. As he played on the recording he returned for the vid... The best solution I reckon.
 16.
I use public transport to travel all over the UK to gigs, and even to Paris earlier in the year. I use a trolley for my gear which carries my combo, pedalboard, cables, MacBook etc.
Where did you get the trolly, I've been looking for something like that for ages?
 17.
What strings do you prefer? What style of music do you (mainly) play? Are you a pedal-tastic player, or strictly bass --> amp?
Pedals? I love them and tend to use the amp pretty flat and to use a BB bass pre, octive, envelope and wah. I guess that this is the area where I usually mess with sound. Strings? That's complicated as Status half rounds were my preferred string and I have also used flats. I'm trying Elixir nanowebs at the moment to get a bit of growl back into my sound in addition to thimp! Music Type? well it's proggy and at times heavy. If I was emulating sounds it would be bands like Placebo, muse ...it's probably easier if you judge for your self. 18. I have a couple of Bass Collection SB335 5 string basses. Armed with 2x soapbars the controls are Vol, Pan, active 2 band/treble and bass together with a passive or active switch. I really like their tone and they have plenty of oopph under the bonnet but I don't need two basses that sound identical so would like to differentiate their sound. IIn the past have been content to change sound thought changing strings so where do I start? Pickups? Pre-amp? The good news is that the pups seem like pretty standard 4" x 1.5" I suppose the obvious question is what sort of a sound am I after? Well in the past the basses that I have used are Ibanez with custom barts, Stingrays and G&L's so I'm after a dark sound with character. I'm not keen on typical Delano, Norstrand, emg's....Jazzers generally don't do it for me. Therefore it makes sense to make one of the SB335's sound a darker and more agressive. So where should I start?
 19.
Good stuff. I've heard it said a few times the SGC pre amp lets the bass down. ps Skinnyman I've an SGC 5 stringer I may part with if you're interested
I agree with that for most but not all of them, I have a 2x SB335's that sounds great and also have a great tone and plenty under the bonnet together with active and passive options. This thread has got me thinking though. I was thinking of selling the other but maybe I should try some different electrics in the one and keep them..I'll start my own thread. Here's a vid in which a bass player with a band called Muse is playing a SB334...check out Plug-in Baby about 30 mins in...I love that track https://www.youtube....zQgV1Yek&t=460s
 20.
I have experiences with high-end Prestige SR basses (SR3006, 5006, 1005). They have superb playability even for six stringers and sound great. The 5005/6 models are the current ones and go around a grand even used, but if you look around for the earlier 3005/6s (the ones with natural mahogany body) they go lower than a grand. These are Japaneese. There was a time when Prestige series moved to Korea, I owned a SR1005, they go around 500GBP and fantastic instruments for the price with a great neck and Bartolini pickups + through necks. I'm hearing good things about the Premium line too. Playability was never an issue with the SR models, the body, neck dimensions and ergonomics are pretty much the same throughout the range so they all play great.
I agree with all that Paul says. The SR basses with numbers above SR500 are very playable and great value for money. The premiums are now up to, or close to the standard of the prestige basses IMHO. The new BTB's are very versitile. Of course you are better to try before you buy
