1.
i did have an SGC Nanyo 5er and it was a lovely bass - one with 2 J pickups. GLWTS
Yes they are nice, these ones were the high end modwes with very good elecronics packages that stand up well today IMHO. The damage on the green one is a few chips to the hear, I touched them up with a green permanent marker and you can't see really or photograph them
  2.
Nice, especially the honey burst. Sadly I've given up on 5 strings too much thinking for my tiny brain
Yep I have been there, went back to 4's and came back to 5's with a diffrent approach. I now play 5's them like a 4 string most of the time, using the lower B as a rest and then using it when I need it. It works for me
  3. £1000 Putting my beautiful early 2000's translucent red stingray up for sale. I searched long and hard to find this colour and recall seeing another 5'er. It has been my gigging bass for the last couple of years and I'm only considering selling as my G&L hasn't sold. It comes with it's MM hard case. The bass used but in good condition. It has some damage on including a couple of tiny nicks and a patch of missing paint on the top edge that can be seen in one of the photographs. It still has loads of life left. I'm not sure of the weight but its lighter than my previous SR5. Nice neck grain. It's a stunner IMHO! It's in this vid: https://www.youtube....h?v=OXPhW7z2UJ0 [
  4. Note: now just this one so £400. A nice lightweight bass, great looker and player with a great tone to match. Pretty rare and origonal. Active/passive switch, 2 band EQ, volume and and pickup pan. Gotoh hardware. Both active and passive tones sound great to my ears... When new around 2000 it was a high end bass. Muse fans will know that Chris Wolstenholme used the 4 string BC back then: https://www.youtube....aXfuf8I&fref=gc If you want more pictures PM me and I'll send you a mail. Price is + postage
  5.
It depends if it's old stock, for the store, and whether they'll be importing any more or what strand of rosewood it is. As far as my knowledge goes, there's different varieties of Rosewood and similar woods like Pau Ferro which Fender have started using on the new mexican Noir models.
Your right there are lots of different species of rosewood and also ebony and probably lots more. They aren't the same at all really
  6.
https://blog.anderto...k/guitars/cites Worth a check
Thanks that includes some really useful information....nice yo know that you can still travel with your guitar without worrying
  7.
I managed to preorder an Ibanez SR1400 for £899 last week when both the MLG and NT variants were at this price for a few days . They are now up to £999 and £1099 respectively with the same retailer - I asked if I could change the bass to the other colour but was told I would have to pay the increased price if I did as the suppliers had increased their prices. I'm awaiting stock so I hope I actually receive it as it seems I've been lucky getting in just ahead of the hike..
Ibanez are exceptionally good value at the moment. I bought a BTB Premium last week and there was nothing else new that compared to it in terms of price/quality/spec
I think there's also the consideration for CITIES protecting rosewood too, so the import/export of it has also been impacting the price of guitars. Mostly due to exchange rates.... we need to stop having elections in the UK XD
Lots of rosewood in my BTB, my understanding is that rosewood needs to be licenced but maybe some don't have the licenced stocks to draw on.
  8. Hi, Hi I'm just wondering if ther are any epiphone of Gibson SG 30" scale bass owners in Bristol who would let me have a try of their bass for a few minuites. I quite fancy a Gibson but they are so radically different from anything that I have that I would like to get the feel of one first. Just PM me Thanks for looking.
  9. I mean, these sound amazing don't they? I don't think there is anything else out there like it for the money. New vid up https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2osFbwuOyEE
  10. I really like them, they handle well and I like the looks and but then don't fall in love with the sound. I'm not sure why. Maybe it is because it isn't really distinctive and just falls into the already crowded catagory of "a modern bass sound".
  11. ooh I do love the high end SR's. I had a SR3005 and still remember its awesomeness. PMT have a very ordinary looking used brown SR4000 sitting in its ibanez line up in Bristol at the moment. Coolio
  12. loveley, I would love that one if funds allowed GLWTS
  13. Farida D-5212E Steve Hacket. An amazing high end spec instrument from those talented guys at Farida who produce many fine models for the major companies. It is a real exlusive as there were only 25 made and it's list price was just shy of £800 when new. It knocked the spots off the opposition at the time. It is a really nice easy playing 12 stringer that my wife bought me a few years back. I play mainly bass guitar now. Any trial welcome. The sales spiel: Created for the legendary Steve Hackett of prog-rock icons Genesis, the Farida D-5212E is an impressive 12 string dreadnought model which sits nicely at the top end of the Farida line-up. Used by Steve live, this 12-string is yet another Artist Designed model that will live on in the history books, as it is a highly limited edition run of just 25 pieces. The Farida D-5212E was thought up by using the awarding winning D-52E as a base model and adding some of Steve’s favourite elements. As a 12 string player for a number of years, Steve knew what he wanted and we delivered. There’s all solid-wood construction, using a solid sitka spruce top partnered with solid African mahogany back and sides. Both of these parts, and indeed all of the woods used on this model, are high-graded and therefore of the utmost quality. This means this guitar just doesn’t look good, it sounds amazing too. One of Steve’s essential requests was the inclusion of his favourite electronics system, the LR Baggs Element. We obliged, of course, and the result is incredible amplified sound. By using extremely sensitive parts this system is highly delicate, in a great way, to dynamics. This makes sure you have the truest sound possible that’s perfect for playing live or even quick and easy recording. The rest of the Farida D-5212E lines up just as well, with a mahogany neck and rosewood fingerboard combination, a classic which provides serious comfort, especially considering that this is a 12-string guitar. D’addario strings feature too, the top choice for many players across all musical genres. The small details have been given just as much attention too, providing a luxurious feel. There’s a bone nut plus a 3-ply Ivory/Black/Mahogany binding. Although those features might not be the first thing to catch your eye, they really polish the whole experience off well. MODEL FARIDA D-5212E Type Dreadnought Top Solid Sitka Spruce Back & Sides Solid Mahogany Neck Mahogany Machine Heads Diecast Chrome Fingerboard & Bridge Rosewood Scale Length 650mm Nut & Saddle Bone Binding Ivory/Black/Mahogany Strings D’Addario Equalizer LR Baggs Element Active Colour Natural Finish Satin
  14. This is a well gigged gibson SG. None of your cheaper faded etc.cost cutting. There are lots of signs of use but that doesn't detract from it's quality and playability This guitar sounds amazing and can manage everything from jazz and blues to rock, punk, indie and anything else you can think of. The neck is smooth and fast and is a dream to play. The pickups are 490T and 490R and are excellent quality, as you would expect from a USA Gibson. Loads of life left in the frets. Solid Mahogany body with fixed Mahogany neck and Rosewood fingerboard. Has Kluson Deluxe machineheads so stays in tune forever. A classic USA SG. It comes with a usable gibson soft case. Trail by arrangement
  15. An amazing re-isssue of a Guild classic. It is comparable to the original in terms of specifation, sound and finish. I used to have an Guild M75 back in the day and bought this for old times sake but haven't played it. It is in showroom condition and comes with it's fitted case. Most importantly it also sounds as good as it looks Check reviews on line and you will see that it is highly thought of. Any trial is most welcome. Guild spec. Solid body. Guild style from the ’70s is back and better than ever with the return of the solid-body S-100 guitar. With its solid and slightly offset mahogany body, the new S-100 Polara™ evokes its esteemed and hard-rocking predecessor of more than 40 years ago. Responsive and versatile, it also features a distinctive 24 3/4″ scale, rock-solid mahogany neck, brilliant Black finish, and a potent pair of Guild HB-1 pickups. Also available in classic Cherry Red and White finish. The welcome return of a true Guild classic. Played in country style here but it is also a formitable rock machine: https://www.youtube....h?v=Z1xWlb_10Kw PM me for more pics
  16.
Found an L2000 for £300. I think that'll do.
A great choice in my opinion. It is a pro-quality bass that covers all
Ibanez ATK series get a lot of love and are supposed to be very MM like
I have an ATK 805 and it is fantastic and my go to bass at the moment but it isn't the same as an MM. It has loads of power and it's own very special sound I have had a couple of Bongos and have to agree nothing else sounds like them. They are fantastic but they are too powerful for my predominantly pick based playing style This post seems to be covering all my favourite basses
  17. Almost pulled the trigger too but ended up with something else..happy with my choice http://basschat.co.uk/topic/309751-nbd-ibanez-btb-1805-content/page__fromsearch__1
  18.
Glad you're enjoying your new bass! I've liked the look of the 2017 Ibanez BTBs since they were unveiled. The extra sculpting makes an already handsome bass shape even nicer IMO. I did wonder how the move to Aguilar pickups would compare to the Nordstrand pickups in the previous generation Premiums...
They are totally different beasts. I tried it side by side with an SR with Nordstrands and much preferred the BTB sound. Nords sound very modern to my ear where as this is more of a growly beast, It sounds great played passive or with flat EQ that can then be tweaked as much as you like. The electronic package is something special and very usable IMHO Note: I always preferred the highend Barts on the Japanese Ibanez my self and rate an ols SR3005 as one of the best basses I have ever owned/played. The BTB is a different sound again and the bass is very responsive to the way I play. I have yet to try this live but bought it primarily to record with so the sound is all important to me.
I love the contrasting woods. Is it really light, I was always under the impression they were heavy.
Not this one, I'm not sure what "really light" is but it feels lightweight for what is quite a large guitar. I notice in the video at the top the guys weigh theirs in at about 9.7 lbs. This one feels even lighter although I suspect that is due to the weight combined with good balance handing. I was very wary about going back to a 35 inch scale bass but I found it really comfortable to hold and play both when sitting and standing. It feels right for me I remember picking up one of the older BTB's a few years back and quickly putting it down again. It was an uncomfortable big heavy slab of wood. This is a heavily refined bass that oozes class. Terrific value for money.
  19. After three different trips to PMT Bristol I decided that I must have an Ibanex BTB 1805 today. I like everything about it. The 2017 BTB's have more sculpting, which makes them feel great both sitting and standing up. It is surprisingly lightweight too and the neck and action are a dream. It looks like this: The Aguiliar pickups give iot a really growly tone all of it's own and it is outstandingly consistant across the strings in terms of sound...it also sounds eually good passive or active. I tried lots of others e.g. Sandbergs, Fenders and other Ibanez's but after much thought I couldn't really think of anything that I would rather have so snapped it up today. When I first played it it was like a breath of fresh air. I felt like this guy when he tries it around 9min 30 secs in. It's a very refined sound IMHO, just what I want for recording. https://www.youtube....h?v=o4u81uannrQ It is only my 2nd ever new bass and I couldn't be happier. Check one out if you get the chance.
  20. Putting these out there. I had been hanging on to them but I'm not using them. All are in great condition and lightly used with Velcro on the bottom and I probably have the original boxes for them all if you want them. Here we go: AMT Japanese Girl Wah (not bass version). A super compact wag with great sound and build quality. £60 https://www.youtube....h?v=P6tWLEm-z0c On HOLD: TC Alter Ego V2 Delay, like new and hardly used. i love it as it sounds super natural but now use a Empress Superdelay as I need the pre-sets. £100 https://www.youtube....h?v=fKp7ilQJ0Jg Baby Boom Compress X...this one was on my guitar pedal board and worked great with my Tele. I didn't like it much with bass though £20 https://www.youtube....h?v=oEvte09OsL4 Thanks for looking
  21. Hey ho, I thought it was sold but the cash wasn't forthcoming...back up
