1.
Oh I didn't remember that - i wont bother if you have one there already. No point cluttering things up
No worries, I'm sure that it won't be cluttered. Anyway mine may sell. It would be good to compare a tribby to a USA
2.
I believe that they are MIM and the neck is on the thicker side. The skinny P-Bass neck come on the Nate Mendel sig model. GLWTS, really cool bass with great features ( Badass, CS pick up... )
I'm sure that there were a few USA made ones about. I remember one being on here
3.
if anyone has a Fender P or P/J 5 string or a G&L 2500 I would love to try these. Graham
It looks like your covered already but I am down as bringing a for sale, G&L Tribute L2500. I can switch it to my L1505 if there are a few of those already
4. Thats what happens when the seller won't post.
5. It certainly complements your other basses....lots of mojo there
6. here we have a beutifully made Godin SD guitar. Now a bargain at £250 ono for a really versitile and beutiful pro instrument. The buyer won't be dissapointed I bought it used as a spare and have gigged with it a few times in Bristol. I really like it but don't use it enough to justify keeping it It is Canadian made and the construction and electrics are superb. It is nice and comfortable and most importantly it sounds great and suits many types of music.. Note: The case and strap aren't included in the price but we may be able to come to an arrangement I don't have a tremolo arm so have never tried it as I don't use it. Thanks for looking
7. These G&L Tributes are amazing basses and are well known for thier good construction and wide array of sound options. My reason for sale is that I already have a G&L L1500 and wanted to compare them. I now need to slim down the number of instruments that I own. This bass plays and sounds superb and has really nice wood grain. It is also in showroom condition. Save yourself some money and buy it...any trial is welcome. There is a nice vid of someone here putting one of the L series though it's paces: https://www.youtube....h?v=_5-VEr_M9I8 To quote the G&L web site: When Leo Fender† launched the G&L L-2000™ bass in 1980, it was clear he was ready to make history all over again. Never before had such a wide range of tones come from a single bass, and today the L-2500™ packs all the features of the latest L-2000 into a 5-string. Like its L-2000 brother, the foundation of the L-2500 is a pair of G&L Magnetic Field Design™ humbuckers backed by the flexible Tri-Tone™ control system, providing the sort of versatility that’ll let you find your tone no matter what kind of bass line you’re laying down. The Tri-Tone system features a trio of mini toggles for pickup selection, series/parallel signal routing and active/passive operation, as well as a trio of knobs for volume, treble and bass. With all that under the hood, the L-2500 brings the kind of chops that’ll fit in any situation, from classic R&B to power-packed rock to poppin’ funk. What’s more, the L-2500 features an innovative Leo Fender-designed Saddle-Lock™ bridge to transfer string energy right into the body end-grain for an incredibly resonant instrument. The Tribute® Series L-2500 delivers the magic of Leo’s revolutionary design at a price attainable for every working musician. Once you play a G&L Tribute Series, you’ll never look back. 8. 5 String Thunderbirds aren't currently made so are quite rare. The Pro series are among the best of the Epiphones and this one is in nice condition other than a ding on the top/front edge, that can be seen in the photos . A nice video on Epiphone Thunderbirds here: https://www.youtube....atch?v=PF5uWbwJ This one has a great and tone well made but I find the B string quite quiet. It comes with a soft case. It is also nice and light and a beautiful bass IMHO, It would be a great beginners bass and is well made so able to be modded into something special-that was my intention but I'll never get around to it. 9.
it might be worth getting in touch with Epiphone, explaining your problem and seeing if they will be able to supply the correct replacement pickups.
It's been a couple of days and I heard nothing back from Epiphone, despite a supposed 24hr web presence.
10.
I want a thunderbird but after playing an epi one at PMT yesterday I found it hard to get on with given the neck being so long.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that the 5 stringer (Pro V) balances really well. It is a very light bass
11. Hi, I was pleased to score an Epiphone Thunderbird Pro V. I want to replace the pickups with something that doesn't cost the earth and gives a nice even volume across the strings. The existing pups are an unnusual size of 93mmx40mm. If I can't get reasonably priced replacements I'm quite happy to go slightly smaller and fit surrounds of to do a little routing. I have seen kent Armstrongs that sound good but no idea what to look for. I'm assuming they they are passive pups with an active pre-amp. Is that correct? Any advice would be much appreciated. The bass spec is here: http://www.epiphone....bird-Pro-V.aspx
12. There is a chance to try them all hrere: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/300501-the-big-fat-south-west-bass-bash-nr-taunton-2nd-april/page__fromsearch__1
13. Bleedin-eck, somebody slap me! I began asking advice for someone else and have now ended up buying a Thunderbird myself. I thought I was safe as they were 4 stringers but I have a Epiphone Pro-V, 5 stringer is incoming. Thunderbirds are go!
14. I've got a lot of nice basses at the moment. I'll probably bring the following: G&L SB2, Stingray SR5 fretless, Thunderbird Pro-V, G&L Tribute L2500 (FT/FS) I also have a L1505 and a 90's USA precision Fretless (FT/FS) so if anyone wants to play anything in particular let me know. They are all nice guitars IMHO.
15. Pinball

Bristol Bash

If I'm around I'll come down and bring some kit.
16. I have changed my basses more ofton than my flat strings as I have sometimes kept the flats They can foall off the cliff though as I had a set of rotosound 77's that became became dull and lifeless. You will hear it if they need changed
17. A beauty still hanging around waiting for a new owner
18. I used them on my Stingray fretted and fretless and love the sound...I don't think you can buy them at the moment though
19. I put some La bella on last night and like them...I think they will be stayiing Thanks for the advice
20.
I do love the bridge on that new Epi...mine's almost, almost there: Actually, looking at it more closely, I couldn't have a two-piece bridge: the saddles are too far forward on mine. Ah well, I'll have to struggle on...
Niceeeeee!
21. Thanks all, that's lots of great advice to pass on. I love the wasy the BC community respond and share info. Personally I never really hankered after a "bird" but remember watching a clip of someone playing Greco on here and thinking that it would be great fun. A tribute to the player as well as the instrument
Having said that, there is a new Epiphone model coming out later this year which appears to be the best attempt yet to get close to the original 1960s Gibson version (if that is important to him).
I will be interested to hear how this new/old one plays
22.
I'd give them a try.. if you like the results, by definition they're great! I have different strings on different fretlesses for different results.
I guess that is the only sure way as to some extent it's down to personal taste...I thought I would try and get some feedback before I start snipping them..strings seem to be expensive these days
23. Hi, I need to change strings on my fretless Stingray 5 and am wondering which way to go. I was using Status Half's which aren't curtrently available and I like Chromes but am thinking of giving La Bella low tension flats a go. I'm not sure how they will work on a fretless though . Any one out there have any experience of them? Am I just over thinking this? The string tensions are: B: 28.3lbs E: 34.2 A: 30.5 D: 34 G: 36.2
24. Hi, I have a drummer buddy who has always fancied playing bass and has a craving for a Thunderbird. He's just waiting to start a new job in the summer and getting the money together to pull the trigger He was looking at Epiphones and is now wondering it it may be better to save up and get a used Gibson. I mentioned that there are other fine used verions such as greco and Tokai but to be honest I don't know much about them. Any recommendations of what to look out for on the used market?
