1.
Even the 34" Spector and Warwicks will feel two frets farther left than a Fender style bass. It's fine, but if you're regularly changing between them as I was, it becomes more difficult to play without looking at your left hand and I hate having to do that. Frank.
Yep I found that. As a Stingray player I also struggled miserably to play fretless bass until I got a fretless stingray. Even thought I play 4's and 5's I now I stick to basses with similar dimensions and feel e.g. MM's G&L's. ESP's and the Yamaha BB series work for me also.
2. EBS Unichorus...Great condition/boxed with instructions. The same as the one in the vid but it doen't have the word "True Bypass" below the switch so I assume that it is the earlier version. Note Chorus works well with lead guitar too £60? 3. Going back to the original thread I understand your pain. I found a real bargain Pinball game and sold it on at the same price to a friend cheap. He had told me for years that it "was the game he always dreamed of owning". When I saw him 3 months later he told me that he had sold it as he had been offered 4x the amount I had sold it to him for.... ..I guess dreams have a price As long as your happy with the price you got that's fine. Once it is sold it's not yours anymore. People can ask what they like.
4.
Was having a play on this in the studio today, and can't stress how beautiful the neck is, and how good it sounds/looks/feels!
I can confirm the above as it is a very nice neck to play. Rock solid too....I'm still quite attached to it GLWTS
5. Don't rule out the SR3000-SR5000 series. I had a SR3005 for a while and it was a fantastic bass. As good a sounding bass as any I have played but a bit complicated for my needs. Good luck with your search
6. Hi, I tried a few Sandbergs and have owned 4 including 2 Delano powered JM's. I am a sucker for their lovely build and great sound and range when solo. The thing is that whenever I used them live I could never seem to find "the" setting that I was happy with. Either I didn't like the sound or it didn't cut though in my band. I wish that I had found an answer for you but in the end I simply swapped the last Sandberg I had for a Stingray which I just leave flat most of the time. Note: I use GB amps
7. We're playing on the Saturday evening and are sharing the bill with 2 of my favourite local bands, Karma Control and The Blunders. It should be a great night so hope you can make it. https://www.facebook...86551644846809/
8. I just bought a Sansamp VT pedal from James. A fast and easy deal and the pedal is as described and in great condition. Thanks buddy
9. Thanks for the speedy payment for my pedal, I hope you enjoy it.
10.
Thanks for the tip off. It IS brilliant! A totally modern and valid album. I know already that I'm going to listen to it alot. Nice one.
Yep our guitar player put me on to it to listen too in a week when I had to do a lot of travelling. I liked it on first listen and then liked it more on each subsequent listen. "Modern and valid" is a good description,
11. There is a lot of competition. There was a recent survey done of the value of live music in Bristol UK-population of 449,300 (from the council web site) On one weekday night there were 94 live music events in or around the city. It's a competitive business Details here http://www.ukmusic.org/research/bristol-live-music-census/
12. and a bump for a dirt cheap pedal...hahahah
13. Replied, still all here at the moment. Updated post above.
14. Others gone, only the unichorus now. EBS Unichorus...Great condition/boxed. Note Chorus works well with lead guitar too. Note: The doesn't have "True Bypass" written on it so assume that it isn't. A great pedal though with very useful sounds. £50? https://www.youtube....h?v=1xETWOvL_xU Collect or add £5 towards postage. Thanks for looking!
15. I certainly loved it and it still looks good too doesn't it You can see it in action by checking The Angry Badgers Video, Deep Red in their Facebook page. Why not like the page if you like what you hear
16.
Thanks for that Pinball - always rated him highly but hadn't heard anything from Loud Hailer. My vinyl copy of Truth (Jeff Beck Band with Rod Stewart on vocals) still gets a regular play.
The last one I bought was Wired in the lat 70's Some of the best tracks aren't on Youtube but as a body of work it's spot on and very sharp all round. It's the best I've heard from him. I'm not into guitar hero's as a rule.
17. Wow, is anyone else listening to this album. I regularly listen to new music from all sorts of genres and this really shines on so many levels. The musicianship and production are awesome, the lyrics and vocal are outstanding and it rocks. There are loads of highs and lows along with musical surprises. Here are a couple of tracks. https://www.youtube....h?v=F6dsffOrOoI https://www.youtube....h?v=G1xukJkcq1k
18. Hmm, I'm surprised with the responses so far. I pretty much always use a small amount of compression. I find that it helps keep everything stable and the volume even when using effects. Particularly with wah and distortion.
19. Yep we're an originals band with a heavy/prog feel. We are not young band so things are stacked against us I terms of social media competition https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujZTv4eTfXQ Bristol is a-wash with music. We don' really have away into the Uni scene at the moment. Advertising there is like competing with white noise Weston-Super-Mare different.
20.
Depends on the crowd you're trying to attract and the reputation/punters of the venue. if it's a younger crowd and originals then the distribution via Friends of Friends on FB is a good start. Posts on FB and Twitter get many times more views if you have a pic attached so make your poster landscape and reduce it to 900px wide to display as a photo then # it to the venue and any local rags or radio you'd like to cover it. For older bands with an older crowd posters and flyers are the thing. Older folk don't tend to use the i'net enough to look for things to do or gigs to go to.
That kind of echoes my thinking. It needs to be targeted in terms of area and audience. I reckon there is time to do that with the venue on side Thanks for all the replies..it helps a lot. I can see it is really easy to waste time and money
21.
I would suggest all that you have listed but especially Facebook. Posters and flyers all help. Get all the band members to push it as well as the venue. Also the local papers if possible, plus anywhere on the net does does gig listing. Don't fly post illegally or you could get into trouble, and you may lose the gig too.
We have done a poster (see below) and FB bit. I'm a bit disappointed with FB as it doesn't seem to work as well as it did-any advice there? A good point about the local press.
