I picked this up from Basschat earlier this year.
Bit of a resurrection of this post with an update. This is now definitely my number 1 bass. I just love it. Interestingly, as the strings on it die off it sounds better and better. I've had a set of Elixirs waiting to go on this since October and they're still sat in their packet. I played this at Mr Wolf's in Bristol a few weeks ago through my MarkBass CMD 121P and the bass player for the next band complimented me on the sound of it
Paul and I play together regularly and his P bass definitely hits the spot. When practising I prefer the sound of his P bass as it just sounds right and fits with the 12 and 6 stringers and with my voice. Just like a good recording mix

I love Schecter stuff but haven't played one of these yet, nice bass
My question is, if I stick to same string gauge will I have to get the bass setup at all.
Basses all vary so the only way is to do it and then tweak the set up if you need too

Although my current band is basically a rock band we do have prog/prog metal (ish) leanings - and it's starting to show in some of our newer original material.
Same here but the big problem is that I can't find many places to play it. It seems to me that most "prog" festivals, radio stations and other outlets are interested in retro rather than new music. Check them out and you will find lots of 70's bands playing. Some of the sub-genre's that I would have called prog back the day are those that are now at Festivals such as ArcTanGent. "ArcTanGent is the world’s ultimate music festival for connoisseurs of Math-rock, Post-rock, Noise-rock, Alt-rock and everything in between." The band that I play in (The Angry Badgers/See link below) is a cross genre/prog band and we get played by rock and metal stations I think prog is currently a dead or retro band term.
I have the older 5 string Legend with bolted neck. They are excellent guitars although I am thinking of selling mine soon as I just don't use it.
I like those a lot. I prefer them to the neck-thru as the bolt-ons I played were lighter and sounded just as good.

Tom bought my Telecaster...no problems and pleasant to deal with. Deal with confidence

Two reasons here. I like the sound...Stingray + pick hits the spot for me I find I get a lot of finger pain if I play a whole set using my fingers. A combination of digging in too hard and old fingers I Play most of the set with a pick

Just concluded the purchase of a G&L bass. A pleasant and easy to deal with and I'm very happy with the bass. Thanks Rob

Amazing top of the range bass but a bit of a luxury item for me. I may trade for a G&L 5 stringer (USA or Tribute) with some money my way. I'm also interested in 5 string P style basses-nothing too heavy. The reason for sale is that I got it in a trade and I don't need it. It is a pleasure to own and play though. Any trial welcome (Bristol). This Bongo 5 HH was made in 2004 and is graphite pearl. I don't know much about its history but it is has a few knocks to headstock and back of the neck. They aren't something that is apparent to the audience and they haven't bothered me. There is one ding on the top edge of the neck that is visible to the player. The body is in great shape and the controls work well and are silky smooth The outstanding feature for me, other than its sharp/individual looks and playability is its superb pre-amp and control system. The HH system gives a wide range of usable sounds that cut through like a knife. The intuitive mids controls and pickup balance are a winner IMHO. I will post at cost.
