  1. I have one of these, love it lots and it's a keeper. As the label says from the Peerless factory. If I recall correctly they kept making them under their own nail after the production moved elsewhere so a bit later than you suspect? The build is superb and it comes with lighter tuners and a smaller headstock. I upgraded the bridge on mine Jack Cassidys are great basses, it will handle any genre of music from country to metal. GLWTS
  2. These are great. I had one years back and it had a great character and sound. GLWTS
  3. Agreed, I was blown away by this bass and paid more. It is one of the nicest that I have played and I did think about putting it under the bed but it is sold now. Ed
  4. Lat call here at £600 as I have an offer elsewhere Thanks for looking
  5. I know this bass; it is a great instrument. GLWTS
  6. My gigging and recording pedal, great bits of kit! GLWTS
  7. What a wonderful bass. GLWTS
  8. Nice, I have the passive version and love it. These are way better than a backup bass and are the real deal. GLWTS
  9. Well, I've had this up for a while at £650 and offers so one last push. I may keep it (it is a brilliant and versatile bass) or sell elsewhere. Thanks for looking.
  10. A heads up that if there is no interest on I'll be advertising elsewhere or as I'm looking for a baritone may use it as a basis for a build project it has a great sound
  11. Hi, just a head up in the hope of some offers as I'm going to be advertising elsewhere or looking to trade.
  12. Yes, no problem but may take a few days to sort out.
  13. This is me playing this bass with Adam and The Hellcats in Treefforest I think, great gig! It looks great under lights IMHO
  14. I understand. I'll be detuning to C, G, C, F. Everything has been written like that and I can't make the needed in standard tuning. It's good fun actually and doesn't sound as bad as you would think 👍.
  15. The bass cut seems to have a dramatic effect as a big cut can sound like you have cut the volume. The treble has only minimal effect so I'm playing with the bass most of the way up and the treble quite far down. The tone is great though so a bit less control is no big deal for me. It is a nice smooth ray sound. I haven't tried it in a band yet though
  16. I recall a passive one on here a while back. I would have hesitated to buy one without trying it out first. The one I picked up was local. It had been the seller's dad/guitarists bass, so he didn't know anything about it. There wasn't an amp to try it with, but it played so nice I decided to buy it anyway. Thats why I was "pleasantly surprised" at how good it sounds as I was thinking that I would probably need to add a preamp. I'm now thinking that it is fine as it is.
  17. Me neither, there can't be much else that is available at this price with such a good spec. Overall it's a very refined instrument.
  18. Thanks for replying. I am starting to think that there aren't many passives out there. I have to say in your story, that I would have kept sending them back too-aswell! and...If a bass doesn't "fit" it takes the pleasure out of playing. I play with a pick and a crouching style, which may be why haven't noticed any similar problems. I have noticed on some of the forums that players sometimes modify their subs by shaving bits off for a better fit. I have wondered about the quality of the body wood as it is a bit of a lump but not heavy. Having said that, I really like the sound that comes out of it, which is the most important thing and I like the industrial look, so it is working for me. I still haven't tested it with the band yet though.
  19. I played Northumbrian Pipes, 6 String Guitar and Harmonica before bass guitar. I need to improve on all so I'm not sure that they did help much with my bass playing 😁....but my bass playing helped fix my poor timing so it probably worked more in the direction.
  20. Offers?
  21. A new purchase means I would except less. A brilliant playing and sounding bass. Before I start advertising elsewhere!
  22. A new purchase means I would except less. A brilliant playing and sounding bass for very little dosh before I start advertising elsewhere!

  24. Hmm just been playing some more. Great tone but friendlier on the ear than the actives that I have had. I have had 4 SR5's (3x MM's and a Sterling) over the years and loved playing them live as they sat just right in the mix and cut though in a great way. I never particularly liked the Solo'd sound though. Maybe this will need more care in terms of amp adjustment. All subjective at the moment. Only one way to find out!
