Hi, I say annoying because I have a couple next to me in my guitar rack and tend to pick them up in preference to my other basses because they are so tactile and nice to play. Two of the most tactile basses I have ever had in my hands and nice and light. I was blissfully unaware of these Japanese gems when they were being made. I'am now considering selling some of my more expensive and hard saved for items in favour of keeping the blighters, I'm unlikely to use them for gigs as they don't have enough guts for hard rock that my higher end stuff has. Anyway I normally need 5 strings. What to do? Keep them I guess and consider myself a lucky man Here's a couple of pictures but pictures. Both are in great condition but you need to play them to appreciate them fully. The 310 had been in its case for 20 years until I bought it and the action was awful but a bit of oily love and a tweak on the truss rod and I have a superb playing bass-plays like butter with flats on. It has beutiful wood grain too but you can't see it in the pics. Not sure which model this is but it has a Gotoh bridge and tuners and a wax/oil finish. It's active so maybe a 320?? Fretless ebony board. This one also needed a set up. The truss rod had been slackened right off for some weird reason. Again it plays great although I'm looking forward to changing the strings for some of my favourite flats. Hi, dreaming of making a combo bass. A quality fretless-maybe graphite neck so I want a donar bass..Maybe a fender precision or jazz or a MIJ bass e.g. Greco, Ibanez Do most of the fenders have the same neck pocket size? What about Ibanez blazers etc. ?

Thanks, I can do fretless. Also this bit nails what I'm trying to achieve
With flatwound strings I can get a nice little percussive edge that works very nicely without a drummer.
Cheers!

Hi, I normally play Stingrays or an Ibanez SR3005E but am now working on an acoustic song based guitar/vocals project and would like an alternative bass sound. I have a modest budget and or could trade or sell my Ibby I normally play 5 strings, 34" scale in rock bands and loads of pedals Whatever I listen to sounds good e.g. P basses, Jazzes, EMG's, That should make it simple but just makes it more confusing HELP! Any suggestions or am I just overthinking this? It sounds like a "which guitar is good for metal post"
Go for separate pedals - I don't know of any decent fuzz/wah combos where the fuzz is useable standalone on bass, and the EHX is terrible. The Zoom B1Xon has a decent fuzz model but unfortunately the bass wah isn't too great. A used Dunlop 105Q or Ibanez Weeping Demon would be your best bet for the wah, and for fuzz there's the Bass Big Muff or even the aforementioned Zoom modellers which would give you a decent Bass Big Muff sim and a whole lot more to boot for around the same price!
Agreed, I use a Weeping Demon and keeping them seperate it allows you to use the dirt of your choice.

Senario: A new originals band has been playing for about 1 yr and is on Facebook, ReverbNation and Soundcloud. We're getting better gigs and have better recordings but aren't making money. We really would like to set up our own web site. Low cost would be good. 1. Any suggestions 2. Any advice on selling on a web site Note: We did try one of free ones but found it a bit constricted and soon came up against barriers that needed cash input-not quite as free or as fit for purpose as it first appeared. Any advice, with examples would be much appreciated! Ed

What's the deal with Ibanez basses - educate me.... Sr6/700?
Pinball replied to goonieman's topic in Bass Guitars
SR500 or upwards and you can't go wrong, I have a real soft spot for "woody" Japanese SR's from SR1000 upwards. The ones that I have tried are gorgeous and sound great and worth searching out. -
Is it really in the fingers and not the bass?
Pinball replied to jazzyvee's topic in General Discussion
Yes the tone comes from your fingers but its also the bass.... and the amp, the cabs, the strings, the shape of the of the room, not to mention the tone/EQ nobs! -
I like most of the Goblin themes for Dario Argento's film. Always menacing and intelligent. This is an example: https://www.youtube....h?v=3nHV6MAA1K8

I bought a wee pedal from Stu. I arrived quickly and as described. Thanks for an easy deal!

I always recall me and Mornatts trying each others (totally different) basses. I noticed him smiling when I was playing and asked what was up-his answer was "When you play my bass it sounds like and and when I play yours it sounds like me. A great bass sound it down to both equipment and style A good analogy would be taking a photograph. A good quality image depends on a decent camera gear but getting a great picture is down to the photographer. -
Eeek, the monster I created returns This was great and did what it was intended to do and gave us a step up in terms of credibility. The problem is when the thread grew it became a bit of a chore to like everyone. I recommend you start another and let it run for a couple of months and end it.
Wish I'd noticed this before! Are we too late? https://www.facebook.com/afterburneruk Looks like I've got a lot of clicking to do!
Start a new one DeBassmonsta call it the Facebook liking thread and catch all the new bands that have started up. Thats where its useful
