1. SOLD The Esh is back up for sale as I need more cash (don't seem to have enough these days ) To be honest I don't know much about it's history but I was told it was produced just before the company changed hands in the early 2000's. The controls and pup set up are unusual. It has 4 pots. One volume, one tone, one with several "Eshtronic" sound options and one with pickup combinations. With some of the pup combinations you get very little or no tone control due to the preizo (hope I's spelling that right). The other settings use the "Eshtronic system" and vary the tone quite a lot. with passive/active/recording etc. There are a lot of variations. The body finish is also interesting. It has a nice flame maple front but the edge has what I believe is a sandblasted finish so that the ash? wood grain stands out. Run you finger down the edge and it feels corrugated. Construction is good and solid. one of my lighter basses Here on some pics, PM me if interested
2.
The Nighthawk basses look the business http://www.sandberg-...al-nighthawk-tm
Agreed but it needs a black/ebony fret board to finish it.
3. I wanted one of these back in 79 GL with the sale
4.
Well I know I would choose ESH: They look awesome. Incredible build quality. I like the way that the body shapes can look outrageous, but they've kept the woods and colours fairly conservative. They sound incredible. ESH piezo circuit sounds like a DB. No-one else uses them. Ergonomically sound; no dive, nice and light, comfortable on the strap or sitting position. For a handmade bass, good value for money. To buy new, you need to go to Mark at Bassdirect. And he's awesome. Truckstop
i +1 especially on the sound of the Prezo. I'm playing lead now and keep thinking I need so move some basses on but I'm loathed to move the move on the Esh because of the priezo sounds-so do I move on a Sandberg or my fretless-no no no can't decide. I'm a tormented soul
5. Congratulations, great looking machine!
6. Interesting thoughts I was tempted to say that "I have always done my own thing" but then I suddenly remembered that is plainly not true. I'm playing lead guitar again and although I wasn't rich I remember trading in all my kit for a brand new USA Strat as I loved Clapton and Hendrix. What a waste of time because 1. I wasn't that good and 2. it wasn't my sound or style so it sat in it's case for the next 20 years. so... It all depends what floats your boat. If you enjoy doing covers then obviously you need to copy and its a useful way to hone your technique but...... if you just want to have fun and/or the creative type it can be both surprising and rewarding not to be restrained by someone else's style or sound.
7. I'm frustrated because I have ended up playing guitar when I wanted to play bass. I'm in a merry band of 3. One plays bass, one guitar or bass and one vocals. That is me in the middle. It's good fun though so I'm rolling with it. Probably better at guitar anywayz
8. oooh, An incredible array of sounds from this bass and a real eye catcher. GL with the sale Bargain!
9. Thanks for the info., so its probably just an older verion rather than a factory option.
If you are listing it on ebay, how about listing it on here first? Assuming you haven't already of course!
Yep I agree. Basschat is always my first call for buying and selling but in this case I'm trying to get funds together for something and haven't donated or signed up for selling yet (hangs head in shame and embarassment) so it seems mad to shelve out £20 when my fund is empty. Once I have sold some items than I will sign up and start advertising here-I promise Hmm but them I won't have anything for sale Chicken and egg syndrome haahaa!
10. Edit: Ignore most of this, I'm a fool I just needed to read the label properly as it says "Mag 115 Deep" (blush), but I'd still be interested to know if the covering is standard. I bought an Ashdown cab off ebay last year. I stuck it my my garage as I had a bad shoulder and thought It would save me carrying my kit through the house when I started gigging. Well I have started gigging but am playing guitar not bass so I need to sell this on to fund some other kit. I'm sticking it on ebay but am not sure how to list it. I know its not your standard deep 115 as I have one of those and this one seems more sturdy, has a blue speaker, carpet covering and a metal grill on the front. Is it just called an ABM 115? I can't seem to find the exact one, the woolly covering is especially confusing as it seem like it has been there from new. Any help would be much appreciated as I don't want to miss-sell
11. it would be nice to have another. Could people handle 2 per year? If so I could make some inquires here in Nailsea/just South of Bristol to do something in say May. That way I get some good banter and to play lots of nice basses as I really enjoyed the last one
12. Good stuff! the sort of stuff I love to listen to live due to the infectious rhythm. The recordings do a great job at carrying over that atmosphere. GL with your adventure.
13.
MarloweDK plays Sandbergs - indeed, has his own signature model - and he definitely got da funk!
Some nice comparisons here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1B9eEjU83gs Passive Umbo sounds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LA1-L-dQybQ
14. The Esh is interesting. I was told it was produced just before the company changed hands in the early 2000's. Some of those add a lot more "pop" and once you know what your doing there are a lot of variation, all be it in a more narrow range than say the Panther. On the other hand all of variations sound good to me. Note: If you don't know how it works it would be easy to pick it up set on a Preizo setting and think that the tone and Eshtronic system don't do that much. The body finish is also interesting. It has a nice flame maple front but the edge has what I believe is a sandblasted finish so that the ash? wood grain stands out. Run you finger down the edge and it feels corrugated. Construction is good and solid. My only gripe is the back control cover looks flimsy and doesn't have enough screws. It's a worthy addition to the Sandbergs and very usable/gig-able. I like to have something different as it inspires me and this does-especially the Preizo settings. I haven't played it enough to decide if I really love it or not but am impressed by it.
15. Here you go some pics of my Sandbergs. I love em both dearly. [attachment=129269:Pangrain.jpg
16. Thanks TRB, yeah its interesting. that you like the Basics so much. I haven't played one but they look great. Sfter trying a load of Sandbergs I was saving up when I was lucky enough to bag a high end California off bass chat. That left me with a bit of cash so I then bagged the Umbo (above) off Spanish ebay. They were both great but I always picked up the Umbo because it handles beautifully, was lighter and the sound was just what I wanted. The California sounded amazing but I was for ever fiddling with the controls and have come to the conclusion that masses of control options is not for me.. I then did some trading and got the Panther, which again felt and sounded right and gives active options. The Esh was a trade for my Carvin 5 string. I loved the Carvin dearly but never played it-that is certainly up there in terms of class but I wanted 4 strings. The Esh is a very natural sounding bass that gives a different option. If you use the preizos in the mix it can almost sound like a fretless at times. It's a different beast entirely and more specialist but feels and sounds really good. I couldn't be happier with them. I would be really upset if anything happened to either of the Sandbergs in particular. There is a Sandberg thread somewhere I'll put some pics up on there if I can find it.
17. Somehow I have ended up with pro-European bass tastes (German actually) It wasn't planned but I'm a happy bunny so thought I would share now that I got around to taking some pics. I have even stopped looking at basses for sale on Basschat.
18. Ouch that is sooo nice that it hurts( Good luck with the sale.
19. hmm these are all a bit good, here's my humble effort. I just like the flow https://soundcloud.com/mole-music-1/caught-in-glass-v2
20.
This looks great, I have the long scale 5 string version XB75p, which sounds awesome. Carvin make great basses. Good luck with the sale.
+1 I also had one. Beauty and beast all rolled into one and a sound 2nd to none. Only traded recently for a 4 string. GL with your sale.
