1. Nope, someone has done a good job of removing the logo.
2. It's actually pretty rough. Some paint touch ups on the black, a bit of rust here and there, damage to the nut, significant fret wear etc. but it plays and sounds nice so........ yes a bargain. I thought there was a problem with unwanted noise when I tested it but on my amp at home it plays nice and clear.Am happy!
3. Indeed it is. It isn't as tidy as the pic implies. It is filthy and more battered, some fret wear, a noisy pot, a bit of rust here and there but....... It plays well and sounds nice and will look better after a polish..£45 has to be a bargain. I'm either going to keep it to play in my lunch break or may give it to a friends son if he wants it..
4.
I've owned 2. They are fab basses, high quality Japanese build, excellent components and the best necks, with beautiful ebony boards.
If this was bought from Musical Express it is is the one you sold me John. Very nice bass but I wasn't playing it and it was too nice to sit around a work for lunch breaks. Congratulations on your new bass Pete, it certainly is a thing of beauty.

8. I snagged 80's MIJ jazz as it was only 15 mins away. A bit tatty with rusty strings and a pot is noisy when turned up but it plays really nicely, great balance and sounds sweet. Someone scratched the name of so can anyone tell me what it is? Distinguishing features are in the gumtree pictures. 9. AAh I saw this late last night but too late to phone then. I phoned this morning and snagged it as it was only 15 mins away. A bit tatty with rusty strings and a pot is noisy when turned up but it plays really nicely, great balance and sounds sweet. Someone scratched the name of so I post pictures for an ident when I get a chance. Cheers
10. Just an update on the boss ME-70 guitar effects with Bass. I was messing around with it again last night and stumbled across some relay nice delay/chorus/echo effects. I also set up several combinations of effects and didn't notice any drop off in sound on low notes. It was easy to set up like a series of stomp boxes and I could switch from straight through to various effects combinations. I don't use effects that often so being able to use this is very useful, I like it and don't feel the need to rush out and buy anything specifically for bass. If I find any specific problems I'll update.
11. Thanks Geoff. I have a Boss ME70 guitar multi effects and have been experimenting with the Comp/FX settings while running my bass through that. That is certainly headed in the right direction so I will check out the boss unit. In-fact I was wondering if I could get away with using the Guitar Multi-effects ME-70 as quite a few of the effects sound greart. My only concern is that I may be loosing some "bass". I saw a Youtube a comparison between a digitech unit and Behringer and the behringer was very much as you described. I really didn't like the roughness/noise. The Digitech sounded Ok to my ears.
12. Thanks, I have Korean models in the past, two were Legend 4's and found them great to play. I also had an NS2005 that I bought unseen and was taken aback by the chunkiness of the neck and weight of the guitar in general. I must say though that once I started playing it I soon became comfortable with the neck, although I never thought "I love this". That's why I asked the question because if the rebops and Lx 4's have necks comparable with Legend 4's I would be confident that I would like them. In fact one of the Legend 4's became my "go to" bass for a while. I never should have sold it.
13. That looks like them thanks everyone-especially for taking the picture.
14. aah not the simple answer I was hoping for. They are very nice whatever they are. They are bright red. They have a shiny brass ring at the bridge end but I'm guessing most strings do. If I had bought it in the UK I would have guessed roto's but it came from Spain. I'll have to do a bit more research and look all these up. Whatever they are they are very nice.
15. On hold subject to the beer money heehee!
16. Hi, I have a rather nice set of flats on a quitter I bought. They have red windings at both ends and are nice and shiney. Any suggestions?
17. I have an old rough Peavy BW 15" cab sitting in the garage. its big its heavy and it is in the way. I got it with an my first amp and it did the job for a while in my home before being relegated to the garage. I would like to think someone else could get some use from it. Its rattles a bit but works as far as I know. ooh I have to put a price on it-basschat rules. errrr £3 (1 pint of thatchers). Collection only from just south of Bristol.
18. A used but not abused universal aluminium bass case in good condition. From memory its a Warwick Rockbass. No key unfortunately. Great for keeping your instrument safe but overkill for my needs and too big and heavy for me to lug around. Will sel for £50 (I'm sure it would cost a great deal more) or trade for a good sturdy\quality gigbag or maybe lighter case. Would need to collect and I'm just South of Bristol.
19. Hi, I'm kind of missing my humble Spector Legend 4. I always thought that I would upgrade to a higher spec model at some stage and I see them come up for sale fairly often like Rebop's or LX's but don't feel I know enough about the range to make any decision. I have occasionally noticed that some players give the reason of "don't like the neck" as a reason for sale. I have to say that I found the Legend 4 neck really nice and never noticed any problems. Are there differences between the NS's Legends, Rebops and Lx's are all the necks pretty similar? Note: I did briefly have an early 90's 5 stringer that was build like a tank, 5 stringers are a totally different matter Any advice greatly appreciated.
20. The link from 51m0n is very useful to see graphs of the result of different playing styles. It makes total sense that I'm looking for something subtle as I play finger style for 90% of the time. It also point out that I should re-assess compression needs if I change to slap or pick. No wonder there is so much written about this when you take into account all the variations of gear, playing styles, music styles individual tastes and compressors themselves. its a complicated subject and down to using my ears I guess.
21. OK thanks.
there's a post somewhere with a massive description on how to set up a (proper) compressor properly. Think of anything with one or two knobs as a cut down version that only lets you change some perimeters- then try and understand how each one works. Otherwise you'll just get a list of folk saying "i like this pedal" etc As a direct response- the ashdown amp compression is a very woolly beefy up type thing. Not all will be like that. It depends why you want compression?
Basically I want something subtle and don't want to loose much character from the sound. I've put a lot of effort into finding basses that I'm happy with. I accept that I will be altering the sound but I don't want to loose their character. Also I want to be able to retain the ability to give more "attack" through my playing style. It's finding a compromise I guess.
22. Hi I'm easily confused and there are lots of posts discussing compressor/limiter pedals on here. I read a load of posts which explain what they do, with lots of different recommendations and advice. It seems to me that this subject is more confusing than any other subject on basschat. Anyway I'm sure I would benefit from some sort of "limiter" to cut out the peaks when playing live-not something that I have done yet with bass but i'm headed there. Before taking the plunge I thought it best to check out the following. 1. My Ashdown Evo 2 300 already has a "compression" setting and although using it "beefs-up" it beefs-up the sound, I just don't like the results. Is this typical and does this mean that I going to be wasting my money on pedals here when my amp already has compression?? 2. The Harke Bass attack VXL tone sharpener/pre-amp is my favourite pedal in terms of tone and to my ears it seems to have some natural compression., Is that correct and if so am I wasting my time looking further? Sorry to bring this subject up again but any help would be much appreciated. I do get the "it's a personal taste thing" but need some advice to get started.
