2.
mine arrived yesterday, lovely looking piece of Walnut too, gonna try it this evening
Nice, looking forward to getting mine. Any pics of yours?
3. After taking my time settling on a height i ordered myself a walnut one last night.
4. Very well. Mine didn't have any dead spots, just a nice even response all over. The bass coped with the low F# a treat. If it helps, I left a review on the website too.
5. Sorry matey, they were as follows 175 135 105 85 65 40 30
6. Rotosounds, a set of dropzone plus for the lower ones and swingbass for the higher
7. I flew about with a bass a couple of years back and used an SKB bass safe checked in the hold. My experiences echoes that of twigman above. Great case, flew about because of the wheels and weight. Biggest issue was the latches as stated. It got to the stage where I started taping it up to hold it together, which worked until Chinese officials searched it and slung it on the conveyor as just the two halves and gigbag. Was not happy. When I got back I kicked off to SKB about the latches and had a replacement shipped out from the states. The Americans get the upgraded one with a wraparound strap. One massive plus for me with the bass safe was being able to ditch the "shell" at the hotel and get around town with a gigbag, made taxis and tubes a doddle.
8. I usually have a 18mm spacing on my basses and the 7 string felt comfortable, tight but useable. You also have to factor in the strings I was using and it still felt comfortable to play. Do it, you'll love it. Couple it with a delay pedal and you'll be in for a treat.
9. I had a seven string a while back (strung it with a low F#). With this I'm afraid I won't be much help as I don't have it any more (wish I did though). Weight, light for what it is. When I ordered it I was expecting it to weigh a ton but was pleasantly surprised. Best person to ask is BCer "annoyingtwit" he has one too and I believe still owns his. The string spacing is tight but bearable. Do it, order one.
10. Put me down for Portsmouth. Been doing set-ups, basic repairs, mods and refinishes for a few years now. EDIT - The Hampshire Portsmouth, not the other one.

Help!?!

Afternoon all, A friend of mine seems to keep finding old basses she bought years ago and forgot about. The last one was a Westone Thunder and asked me to tidy it up and give it a set-up and she was very pleased with it. She found another yesterday and has asked if I'd give it a once over but has asked if it is worth it. Along with the text she sent me a picture of the bass and I haven't a clue what it is, apparently there's no markings hinting towards a maker, but does anyone recognise this... 13.
There was a thread on here about the heavy duty Thomann gig bag- it's about £30/40 and sounds like it might be the kind of thing you are looking for.
Beat me to it
14. before Xmas I treated myself to two new pedals, only just got round to playing Pedalboard Tetris and updating the board... 15.
Good idea! Nothing springs to mind instantly, but there's plenty about to do such a thing! I do believe we are already friends on Facebook, send me an inbox any time mate and we can arrange something a bit more
James, I believe we are. Let's both have a think and try arrange something for in a few weeks time?
16.
Only just seen this mate, def up for meeting for bass chatting and beer drinking!
Pick the right pub with a quiet back area and could also take basses along to see what each other has/uses
17. I've got a status Jazz neck fitted on a Squier P body and I've installed one on a stingray body too. Piece of cake, no luthier required.
18.
That's the sort of thing I've found with a lot of people, they know what they like and don't always go looking for new things. There's an absolute plethora of AMAZING bass heavy music out there, if you ever fancy grabbing a beer and chatting bass some more, drop me a message on here and I'm sure we can arrange something!
I'm up for a pint and chatting bass too, let's all make an afternoon of it
19. Greetings from another Portsmouth player
20. Evening all, So today whilst at work my parcel from GAK arrived. For a while I've been considering treating myself to a new pedal as an Xmas treat and this weekend has been full of umming and ahhing. Finally I made up my mind and placed an order online with GAK for a DOD Meatbox...and a Mooer Pitch box (why not, it's Christmas). Ahhhhh, then it was time to sit back and relax. Though, do I really want the pitch box, I've never tried one before. That said, I've not tried the Meatbox either. It'll be ok, I'm sure I'll love both. Hmmmmm, not sure now. How about ringing GAK before they're despatched and asking the guys there. Usually in day to day life I don't have little moments of doubt like that, but this time I'm glad I did. Having called GAK and speaking to a very helpful (and cheerful) "Jim" I may have altered the order. The order was sent yesterday and I had been counting down the hours until getting home from work where I found these... So far I've only had about an hour to have a play around, but both are awesome pedals. The Meatbox had the least play time as most of my belongings started rattling and shaking. That'll be saved and trialled through headphones. The Harmonist has been trialled the most so far and I can see it taking a while to get used to. It's a great pedal, but it's going to take some time learning all the things it can do. On the plus side, I've some time off to try them both. Try them both and start a game of pedalboard Tetris. If I can't get them all on one board, I'll get the small Mooer board I have out and have two separate boards.
21. I've got a Lo-Fi machine and love it. It's mainly only used on either the guitar or synth settings as I didn't find the bass setting all that. My only criticism on it, is that if the sample rate is set at a certain point or higher (2/3 o'clock I think) you get a lot of background noise and a swirling sound. So on mine it's set just below that point to eliminate it and by sticking it in synth mode it boosts it a tad.
