Traded my Squier Bass vi for John's Hohner B bass vi over the weekend. Lovely guy to deal with and great comms throughout.

One of my necks has this, I found using a shim at the head end of the neck pocket and adjusting the truss rod resolved this.

Morning all, Recently I've been contemplating shifting my Squier VM fretless as its not getting used and I'm starting to think I don't like jazzes/offsets. Anyhow, a bloke on FB near me has offered me a Dean 6 string as a swap for it. The 6 looks nice enough, but I haven't a clue what it is. Having done a bit of a search online, all the ones I can find have either different controls/headstock shape/available finishes. So, can any of you lot help figure it out? Not a band, but tricky from massive attack. He arrived 30 minutes late and too pissed to stand. Did a couple of his songs and then a cover of ace of spades. After realising the crowd sang along, invited 30+ of the crowd on stage and did ace of spades again and repeated the chorus. This lasted about 20 minutes. Could've been longer, I got bored and went to the pub instead.

Evening all, Every Wednesday I rehearse with a film Noir inspired jazz group (singer, acoustic guitar and me on upright bass). Been with them for just over a month now and really enjoy it. Unfortunately, over the past week I've had a wisdom tooth coming through and with it, it has brought one hell of and earache and the pain from both has messed with my sleeping. Why is that relevant? Well, the lack of sleep and pain I've had meant I really couldn't be bothered to lug my upright on the bus all the way down to rehearsal and back let alone stand there and play it all night. Instead I decided to take my fretless and things went brilliantly. Anyway, halfway through we took a small break and the singer asked to try my bass. This surprised me as I didn't know she could play and this is when she admitted she doesn't "play", but has a bass and can play the odd line. The fretless through her off and she handed it back with a "I'll bring mine next week". Fast forward to this week where she called my bluff and brought her bass. A Westone Thunder. After all the threads on here about them, I finally got to try one. First thought, bloody heavy. Neck feels fantastic, and acoustically I'm impressed. Apparently it's been in a cupboard for just shy of a decade, but is still in tune and the intonation seems ok. Needs new strings and a battery though. Unfortunately I'm not gonna have a chance to plug it in until the weekend, but I'm looking forward to having a go. After having a go with it I got told I could take it home with me :-D It needs a new battery, set of strings (don't know whether to use roto nexus or nylon tapewounds), some lemon oil and a bloody good polish, but I like it. What are the controls on these beasts? Spotted one of these on Amazon on Monday for £20 now.

Ive got them fitted on my two main basses and love them. Never really used drop D before installing them, but since I have I've started to use it a lot more, mainly for the D#. Very easy to install and setting it is pretty straight forward. A lot of the time they stay in tune when switching, but every now and then (and I mean very occasionally) when tuning back up it comes back slightly sharp. Morning all, Been looking around online this morning and found this. Wasn't sure if there's been a thread on here yet, but noticed a very long one on TB. Anyone know any more on these? A bit late now but only just seen this. Down by the moulin rouge there's a row of loads of music shops. From what I can remember, if you're looking at the windmill, they're to the right and on the opposite side of the road.

I'm pretty settled on my playing height as I've been experimenting with different heights for a while and my current height offers the most comfort and playability. Now the difficult choice of whether to go for oak or walnut.

I recently got one of these and absolutely love it. Had to change the stock strings, but when I did it made it a different bass altogether. Much more playable and sounds fantastic. Mine is strung with rotosound strings.

That's the main reason I looked into getting one (the set height). My current end pin stays where it's meant to do a little bit and then does what it wants.

Morning all, Over the weekend I've been looking into getting myself one of the wooden Endpins from Ben Bastin. How do other users rate theirs? My bass has a stock steel rod in it at the moment, but was thinking of upgrading. At the moment I'm torn between the oak and the walnut (based on descriptions). That said, I found another company online (in Germany I think) that also do them, but offer them stained black (looks pretty good) and are cheaper too. Cheers, James

I had one of these delivered a couple of weeks ago. When I ordered, I put in the instructions box that I wouldn't be using a bow very much and that I would like the strings nice and low. When it arrived the bridge location was nicely marked out on the body for me and the underside of the bridge had E and G on them. The strings that came with it though really weren't for me and the tension was far too high (for me), so I got some low tension rotosounds and the bass plays beautifully now. It's all I'm using at the moment and my electric basses are sat on the sideline (I came to DB from 14 years on electric). If I can help any more with this (where I've recently ordered and received one) I will. James

Afternoon all, So for a while now I've had anSKB bass safe and I'm quite happy with it. My gigbag however is in need of replacing. Having read a few of the "what gigbag" threads, I've got a few in mind. My main problem though is I'm not sure which ones fit inside a bass safe. Having seen one in a shop near me, I'm pretty certain one of the mono ones (the one with the massive rubber sole one the bottom) won't fit as it was massive. I know I could just buy the same as the one I have, but I'd rather invest in a decent one for once. So basically, if anyone owns/uses a bass safe what gigbag do you use? Cheers, James
