Ok I’m sorry alright. I’m sorry it’s changed again. My name’s James and I had a problem with GAS. I’m a few weeks clean now (pedal-wise anyway. Still really want a TE ELF though). Anyway, went a bit crazy buying stuff I wanted but quickly realised I would never use a lot of it. Invested in a pedaltrain nano+ yesterday and built it all today after being snowed off work. Got one spare power point available for something to sit next to the board, that’ll be reserved for a spectradrive when they’re out.

I don’t suppose that was my one was it? I’ve recently been thinking of shifting it where I’m not using it (and don’t really have a use for it) and going back to the Mooer Lo-Fi Machine just so I’ve still got something should I ever need it.

Just finished installing mine today...

I had the helicore mediums and found them too stiff to play. Moved on to the lights and still found it too stiff. I messaged D'addario customer service fir some advice in the Zyex and they offered to send me a set in exchange for a review. Opted for the lights and loved them. Nice and gentle on the left hand, works both pizz and arco nicely and can even get a bit of slap too. My only gripe with lights was that the E sounded weak compared to the other three. This was mentioned in the feedback review and shortly after a medium E arrived in the post and that's the set I've used since. Medium E, light A, D and G. Either way, the synthetic core on the Zyex will feel easier. Personally I prefer the Zyex and continue to use them. I prefer every aspect about them. Basically, go through the contact us section on the D'addario orchestral page, explain everything and you never know, you might get an email from Sabrina offering a set of strings in exchange for a review. Won't hurt to try. James

Afternoon all, It all started many moons ago. My tax rebate had just come in and I wasn't finally in the position to buy the rig I wanted. Nothing flash, just a nice and simple TC rig, the BH250, a BC212 and a BC210. I loved it. Perfect rig for me, enouh output, nice and light and I liked the sound. For a few months I gigged it regularly with a funk/soul band a weekends, up until one rehearsal when the band fell apart and disbanded. After that I struggled to find a band I enjoyed playing in and decided to sell the 2x10. It was surplus, so it went and I kept the head and the 2x12. I started planning again but with a loud drummer and louder guitarists so I sold the BH250 and replaced it with the BH550. Brilliant. For the past few months thats been my gigging setup and it's worked. Then a friends band got in touch about a dep and I helped out but found the 2x12 being a tad quiet with them and started thinking about going back to two cabs to get the most out of my head. Originally I was looking at the Hartke Hydrive 112. The switchable impedance was the selling point, but part of me wanted to stick with TC. Wait! TC do a 2x8 with an extension socket. That'll be perfect, nice and light, and small enough that the Mrs won't complain about it taking up space. Anyway, last week I spotted one on eBay and got it for a pretty decent price (£140 shipped). Whilst waiting for its arrival I started looking in to removing the head unit and just found loads of pages saying you can't without opening the head unit, it won't work, don't bother, etc, you get the picture. Anyway, with little work on (and conveniently over delivery day) I thought I'd have a crack at it. First thing i did was set up as a full rig for a test run of bypassing the built in head (and to take a photo). Next up, after seeing the thread on putting LEDs behind the mesh, it reminded me that I'd wanted to do it for ages. These conveniently arrived a few days before so they went in. After that, justify it to the Mrs. As I shared in the current BG250-208 thread, I've now incorporated the 2x8 and my Roland street cube in to some kind of surround sound/stereo system using the aux in on them both (she loved it...and doesn't it look lovely with the LEDs in it). Last up was the head removal. Following on from the general consensus that the head unit needs to be opened up, I started inspecting that and realised that there's no way that the head is screwed on afterwards. Looks like we're going in through the front then. Mesh back off, driver popped out, and hit a wall. Star security screws that have been filled in with resin. Nothing some pliers and a screwdriver can't fix. The star screws can be turned with a small precision screwdriver. Driver back in. Mesh back on. Flip it over and the head is still in place...hmmmm. Let's see if I can lever it...yep, there it is. So now my rig is a BH550 into a "BC208" into a BC212. The speakon "fly-lead" out the back is remedied with a speakon straight coupler and the extension out is, well, the extension out. You guys knew that though. All I need now is more LEDs so the 2x12 matches the 2x8 and we're all good. Oh, and now I've a surplus BH250...with no feet. Cheers, James

Mine arrived today. A quick test confirms what’s reflected here. They’re ok for home use and home practice, but wouldn’t want to gig with it solo. However, after playing with cabling options, I’ve got it so that my BH550 powers the 2x8 solely as a cab and then on to the 2x12. It’s brilliant, full range, lightweight and and plenty of volume. Give it time and I’ll probably end up taking the amp unit off of the 2x8 a a it’s not in use. After getting it and trying out the cabling options, I got creative with the aux inputs and 3.5mm splitters. In the pictures you’ll see how it’s currently set up and it all works as a giant surround sound for the tv (the 2x12 is hidden on the other side of the room). After playing with all that and a trip to the shop, I get home to find my LED kit has been delivered so installed one, just need to order another for the 2x12.

The BH250 is brilliant. Had one before stepping up to the 550. If I had the choice now though, I might lean towards the TE ELF for portability and size. The TC is great for the toneprint benefits (if you think you’ll use them though).

Ive just bought one off eBay. I've already got a BH550 and a BC212 and I only really want it for the cab section, but I'm curious about the combo. Once it arrives and I've had a play around with it on its own and with the other gear I'll report back.

Afternoon all, i imagine this is going to ruffle a few feathers being a bits and more than the original basses cost, but here's one of my bits a basses. It'll be on here for a month and if it doesn't shift it'll be taken to pieces and parted out (if it should come to that, feel free to PM any part dibs). Included in the sale is the bass itself, a Thomann deluxe gigbag, all the original wiring, pickups and bridge, a spare rotosound nexus B string and a brand new, unopened set of Rotosound Tru-bass 88 Black nylon strings, spare brass scratchplate screws and some Schaller style straplocks to go with what's fitted on the bass. As for the bass itself, it's a Harley Benton PJ-5 HTR Deluxe. After receiving it, I removed all the original electronics and pickups Andy had the bridge rout made a little larger. The current spec is as follows: Body - Alder Nut width - 45mm Neck pickup - Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder Bridge pickup - Seymour Duncan SMB-5D, ceramic musicman pickup (wired in parallel) Electrics - Ki0gon loom made of 500k pots Bridge - Babicz FCH Tuners - Hipshot ultralite HB6-Y, discontinued satin brass finish Extras - original knobs swapped for gold finish, strap buttons swapped for Schaller style ones, scratchplate screws swapped for gold ones, red self adhesive vinyl applied to give "matching headstock" appearance Happy for collection or postage at buyers cost. Would rather not part it out as it's a great bass, but having just bought a Dingwall I really don't need it. Also sorry to anyone this post upsets or annoys for the time being. As for px/trade options, I’m really after either a TC Electronic BG250-208 or a Line 6 wireless system. For anyone wanting to try it out, I'm based in Portsmouth. Cheers James

Especially as we all enjoyed the process and result, to each of us the function and look better as theyre made. A couple of years back I shifted a bitsa to took me a while to pit together, and I sold it whole, huge loss and only just managed to get what I paid for the neck alone.

Mornin all, Recently I've been toying with the idea of going wireless and quite like the look of this system, especially mounting the receiver on my board. Does anyone have any experience with these? Tried them? Own them? Love them? Hate them? What are they like? Cheers, James
