I probably wouldn't like them. My mum says that from the age I could talk, I always had expensive taste, and I suppose she's right
Probably wouldn't matey. Had a look and I can't seem to find them. All I remember is they were unbranded and they cost about £7.

Pete, if I can find the strings on ebay again, I'll send you a link. You appear to be one of the few that likes them.
-
Hi guys, How's everyone been? Who wants the bass next? Who fancies having a go? Also, once once added the stickers Pete, could you supply us a photo? Ta James

I tried rotosound and was talking with Jason and he sounded really really keen, but nothing ever got sent. As a follow up to that, I tried D'addario/planet waves but for sponsorship they wanted details on all of the dates and how we would market them. To get them on board it's all about filling out forms and not actually speaking to a person. So, to date, we have no string sponsors, which surprises me as I thought someone would want to.
Thanks for all you efforts Sylvia ( btw theres another masterclass at the academy later in the year - tempted? !) Jim, I will be 'sticking up' the bass and packing ready for the next recipient complete with KaBLes . I am going to be on the radio later in the week .The Relay is gaining interest and momentum - theres no shortage of musicians around and I think that it will be only a short time before the next story emerges. Jim, just got to say a huge congratulations to you for having the idea in the first place and really pleased to have had a part in the bass's adventures! My youngest daughter aged 13 wouldn't put the bass down and just loves the popping and slapping sound ( what are the strings that are on it? Might have to invest in bass for her as long as it has that sound ....hopefully the auction won't be for a good long while yet !!). Peter
Cheers buddy, as for the strings, they're a £7 set off of ebay, nothing fancy and I'm really surprised that they've lasted this long.
James,it does seem to be going rather well.maybe there should be a Rocky I,II,III etc! There weren't any stickers or cables with it when it was on it's holidays so I'm afraid I'm no help there .
No, I sent the cables and stickers straight to Pete so he had them for when he received the bass from you.

Hi guys, Sorry it's been a while and I've been quiet. Well done on everything so far. When I got the justgiving email for the donation ubassman made I may have shouted a few exetives through shock, in the middle of a family beach. A phenomenal amount raised in an incredible timeframe. This is all going much much better than I ever imagined it would. Also, I forgot to ask/check, have the KaBL stickers been put on the bass and case? It's very important they get seen as Rob kindly donated some fantastic cables and picks to travel with the bass. Many thanks and do keep up the good work, James

Afternoon Pompey bassists. If any BCer's fancy it, I'm playing at the Jolly Sailor in Southsea, tomorrow night. All funk/soul/disco and Motown covers.

I thought this was going to be something about a Mecha-Streisand. Phew. -
As far as Ped's prizes are concerned, I reckon ubassman should get one for his recent relay contributions in getting it and making sure it got to Falkirk.
So you guys who were saying that I am a doer, and I deserve respect? Well, Peter, aka ubassman, is now driving to pick up the relay baton from BBBlackdog and drop it off to the UPS depot, as for some reason which we don't know yet, it wasn't collected this morning. I think Peter deserves our respect and admiration for his dedication, and if anybody wants to chuck a pound or 2 into the pot, we can sort him out with a nice little gift
I have a lovely Ashdown Cap he can have
Yo James.... I have a Notation part taken down, if it is of any use. To be honest it's a pretty easy part to learn by ear. Hope this helps. Garry
Cheers Garry and thank you, however, I can't read notation :$ I imagine it is easy by ear. It's just that I can't bear listening to it. I guess I'm just gonna have to suck it up and stick it on repeat and learn it
my frankenjazz: -around 1985 finished and unused esp swamp ash body I got as a present -2008 shuker neck with hipshot ultralites bought from here -nordstrand nj4se bought from here -audere preamp bought from a german board. -pickguard from the bay -unknown bridge my luthier had lying around killer tone and playability. and no, it's not for sale.
Have you picked that scratch plate to match your carpet? -
I tried the black beauties and although the sound and look ok, I kept getting friction burns off of the coating. I moved over to Rotosound Nexus strings. Sound amazing, feel just like regular un-coated string and a lot easier on the wallet too. I won't move from them now.

My turn... Started off as a Squier VM precision. P'up changed for a basslines QP, Basslines MM 'bucker fitted, ashtray covers, Farida Jazz Neck (due to change), Hipshot X-Tender, Schaller Strap-loks, The sticker gets changed every time it fades, was a hyrule crest previously. Mornin all, I've been asked to play a wedding. And they've requested "haven't met you yet" for the first dance. Does anyone have a decent tab of this? I would learn it by ear but the only bearable part of the track is the bass fill at the end. Many thanks, James
Sounds like a good idea, although I have next to no understanding of Drop-Box, other than it's like a cloud type storage thing.
You and me both
-
Also, is it worth setting up a Dropbox folder type thing so that everyone has access to all pics/vids at all times?
LOL and then keep at home it in its case, waiting for the next taker, as I can't play it cos it's a righty
String it lefty and let the left handers have a go?
