Morning all, Recently there was a thread about bitsa basses and how much they go for and people asking more than the original bass is worth. Admittedly, I've done this in the past, mainly to try and get back some of the money spent on parts and it got me thinking. With the recent arrival I've my new fiver, my old one is now surplus to requirements and I'm thinking of shifting it (especially now I've a wedding to pay for). The bass itself is one of the Harvey Benton deluxe precision and whilst (I think) it's a very nice bass and I know that shifting it would result in a massive loss. However, when it comes to bitsa basses, do you guys reckon it's better to shift them whole (in the hope that someone is after what you've created), or to deconstruct it and sell the parts off separately? Cheers, James

Cheers for the heads up, wasn't after one, but at £30 it's worth a go. Ordered.

Evening all, Ive got my eye on a few bits and acquiring one would make 2 redundant, so some have to go to fund things, others are going as I don't really need them. Easiest first - MXR M82 Bass envelope filter. Come on, we all know how good these are. SOLD MXR M101 Phase 90. Classic pedal, dead simple and sounds great. SOLD EHX Crayon. Brilliant overdrive pedal and I personally rate it better than the soul food pedals (A/B'd them when buying). SOLD TC Electronic Switch 3. Foot switch to pair with the BH series of amps. I don't use the toneprints anymore so pointless keeping hold of this. Should have a stereo cable kicking around for this which I'll include. Postage will be more for this compared to the others...it's somewhat heavier. WITHDRAWN...for now. Valeton Dapper Bass. An interesting unit this one. Valetons answer to the flyrig. Personally I think it's a brilliant bit of kit but selling as it doesn't get used as often as it should. For any bass guitar stuff I take my full board and used this for upright gigs, but even then found it scarcely used. In order from right to left you have a one knob compressor and gain/boost, then tuner, then what is basically an EHX Bassballs. Next up I should the little amp section closely followed by their take on an OC-2, ending with a chorus. Each effect lights up different to avidly confusion. Also features it's own independent effects loop on the back and DI out. Socket wise you've got - in, thru, fx send, fx return, out, DI out. Live I was sending the out to my amp and the di to the PA. Includes PSU. EHX Crayon - SOLD MXR M82 - SOLD MXR M101 - SOLD TC Electronic Switch 3 - WITHDRAWN Valeton Dapper Bass - £90 Happy to post any of it. I'M open to any trade offers, but really want an SYB-5 cheers, James

Evening all, My new Dingwall has Dunlop straplocks. My other basses have Schaller straplocks. Not wanting to change anything other than strings on the dingwall, I'm changing from schaller to Dunlop. So... I have a pair of genuine schaller strap pins (black) - £3 each A one black and one gold Schaller style pin - £2 each I also have 3 schaller strap buttons (black) currently residing on my precision - £1 each All I'm after is two (preferably black) Dunlop pins (just the bit on the strap). Everything is including postage. Ta, James

Sent the serial number off to Dingwall and they've replied confirming the spec but with a few more details. For one, I've now learnt that the finish isn't candy cola, but is actually "black cherry" which is definitely more apt. As for the dual density body, the top half is northern ash and the bottom half is swamp ash. I've also found out it's birthday is only a few days before mine and made in 2014.

Lava cables tightrope kit

Really liked it and found it ideal for a "not sure if I'm going to like this effect so I'll get a cheap one first" pedal. Only moved it on as I wanted something a bit more thorough.

It's certainly a fun one. Go for it, treat yourself. I use it more for the bit crusher side of things as it was the replacement for my old Mooer LoFi Machine, but there's so many different sounds you can get with it. Just takes a bit of time playing and tweaking.

Got my first Dingwall this morning and couldn't be happier with it. Thoughts and details are in my NBD thread.

It's just occurred to me that I haven't posted this. When I upgraded to a bigger board a month back I meant to post this photo, but for some reason forgot to. Only thing that is missing is my valeton dapper unit that sits across the top...

Afternoon all! Following on from my "which Dingwall" post, this morning I took delivery of my new (to me) Afterburner from Bass Direct. For a while now I've been eyeing one up and a couple of weeks back put a deposit down. It arrived this morning but not had much of a chance yet to thoroughly try it out, but my first impressions are that this is one hell of an instrument. Going solely off of trying three dingwall basses over the past few years for collectively for no longer than 10 minutes, it was essentially a blind purchase but I knew I wanted a Dingwall. Ok, out of the box and first thing is the gig bag. Never thought I'd be impressed with a gig bag, but it's a really nice case. Anyway, moving on. The bass itself is something else. The finish can look anything from black, brown or purple all the way through to a candy apple red in the right lighting. Perfectly balanced and very comfy at 4.5kg/9lb 14 oz. Before plugging it in, there was a concern about the learning curve of getting used to the fanned frets, but I sat down plugged in, tuned up and there was absolutely no need to worry. Straight away your hand just gets it. The neck is amazing and an absolute delight to play. The whole instrument is something else altogether. Harmonics sing from it, the mids cut through beautifully and the bass is tight and pronounced. All in all, very pleased with it. Only thing I'm going to change is the straplocks. It comes fitted with Dunlop buttons but my other basses (not they'll get much use now) and strap all have Schaller buttons on them. Only downside is that I've a gig tonight but can't use it as it's an upright gig. The full spec is as follows: AB1 5/3 33.25"-37" scale compound radius fretboard maple fretboard banjo frets hipshot ultralite tuners dual density swamp ash body Candy cola finish 3 FD3 pickup option Glockenklang preamp

It's here! NBD thread will be posted shortly

It's being delivered today! I've a fun morning of sitting by the window waiting for the delivery man.

Afternoon all, Well it happened didn't it. After much thinking and pondering I decided that with a bass as valuable (for me anyway) as the AB1, I'd be too precious with it and not want to use it out the house. So I set about getting a combustion. After a few emails and a phone call to Mark at bass direct, I put down my first payment on my first Dingwall. Really looking forward to playing it and can't wait for its arrival, but I think the AB1 will do me very nicely. Yep, irrespective of my own logic I went for the AB1. Heres the spec: AB1 5/3 candy cola finish maple board 3 pickup model Active preamp dual density ash body Dingwall USA strings Dingwall gigbag

Cheers Dan, As I posted this thread I was hoping you'd chime in. Especially as it was a few of your videos I watched regarding the combustion/NG2 models.
