1. Cheers for the good wishes guys. Don't tell anyone, but someone's may have leaked tonight's set :-p
2.
James - how about a publicly editable google map that we could pin with potential venue/date map pins?
That's a good idea, wouldn't have a clue how to do it mind.
3. Just a reminder guys, I'll be kicking off the relay tomorrow night. I'll be down at the "Jolly Sailor" in Portsmouth, on stage about 9ish. Cheers, James
4. For those that missed it on Facebook; I've just done some last minute checks ready for tomorrow night, ladies and gentlemen, please meet your new partner in crime... Also, in addition to the collection box, cancer research have also sent me some seals for the box, a second box and a blank poster. I've made some copies and included the original card one so you lot can make copies too. Here's a poor example of what you could do: Cheers James
5. I did also email Rotosound about the relay asking if they'd be willing to donate a few sets of strings, but it looks like my message has been ignored.
6.
If the BC Relay comes to the LBGS (which should happen, as James is organising his trip) I'll be happy to take photos and also videos, if we find somewhere that allows us to plug in and play the bass. [Keeping in mind that we won't be allowed to do anything more than play literally a few notes.]
Are there any local-ish members that could be willing to bring a wee practice amp along? or failing that, if any amplication firms are close to the BC stall that are willing to help. After all, it's for a good cause.
7.
I think if everyone records their gig, and then puts it onto a DVD (remember to label the DVD with name, date and gig) and send it over to me, I'll try and make it into something good to watch.
Great idea, would help with guinness world records too. If people cant get a full track recorded, I imagine lots of short mobile video clips could work and would be easier to mix together?
8.
If you're looking to go on Saturday, then possibly me as I think I may have one to spare
Fantastic. Keep me posted please
9. Don't worry, I have every intention of showing up, with the baton in tow.
10. Mornin all, I like using Nexus strings, but my gauge isn't available. I prefer to use 40-105 which isn't available. Does anyone fancy going in with me on buying two sets and swapping them. You'd get the 45-100 set. I'll cover all postage, cost to you, £19. Cheers James
11.
You in Ashford again, James... I will be up the music shop today.
Na, not in Ashford matey, sorry.
12. It's Saturday morning, I've just received my wages, actually remembered to order my ticket, got to the website and now the we wife's playing silly beggars and won't let me order one. Where else can I get one from?
13. In fact, where my preferred gauge isn't a available, anyone fancy splitting a set? I like 40-105, but usually means buying two sets and changing them round, anyone fancy a set for £19 and I'll cover postage? That means you'll get a set of rotosound nexus strings 45-100 with free postage for £19. Let me know soonish James
14. Morning all, Just thought I'd get myself a nice new set. I've been using roto nexus strings since before Xmas and love them. Just looked online and they're all around the £30 mark (give or take). Just before Xmas, I went in a little music shop in Ashford and picked a set up for just shy of £20. I've yet to see a website that can even compete with that. Did I just strike it lucky with a bargain, or have prices shot up recently? James
15. All I've got it a new and unused Polytune.
16.
Unhappily it won't be a note from me saying 'keep the Bass 400+' :-)
Haha, you sure? :-p cheers for that matey, massive help. It is a fantastic amp.
17. Love the masses of stacked pots idea.
Hard part is where to position the MM? More or less where it should be, or further back so the rear coil in s/c mode gives you a good P/J approximation? A bladed unit (Bartolini) would prevent there from being polepiece alignment issues if you put it somewhere unconventional.
As for positioning, it's positioned...there
18.
You definitely get the 'coolest bass case' prize - but what's with the capo? Do you use it much?
For playing, never. It comes in handy if I add a shim, just to keep strings in the nut slots when removing the neck, or if I'm swapping my necks over.
19. Evening all, I've got a SD Basslines MM pickup (ceramic) in my precision. I want to swap it for an alnico 5 one. So, my ceramic basslines pickup, for an alnico one, either an SD or a genuine ernie ball one. For a 4 string bass Cheers Unlikely, but would love a bongo pickup too
