Ok, so I know it's a tad early, but I thought it start it up and update it as we go. This all started as a crazy idea, and thanks to everyone's ideas and inputs, has started to come to life. First of all big thank you's to Paul S and 3below for pickups (which will be installed on Saturday morning), Chrismanbass for supplying a hard case for the bass to travel in (which will be collected this weekend), Paulgm1 for escorting said hardcase from London to Portsmouth, to Ped and Kiwi for allowing us a polo to go with the bass, bluejay for keeping the world informed and updated via twitter and to all of those taking part and wishing to take part. Now, the bass in question is somewhat special to me. It was my first bass. I remember it being plugged in and dumped on my lap in PJ's guitar shop, roughly 9/10 years ago for the first time. All I could manage with it, was a blank expression and a shrug. Throughout school though I taught myself Red Hot Chili Peppers lines, some Metallica and then on to weather report and Jaco. Seeing RHCP (well, Flea) as m biggest inspiration, I loved the look of his "punk" bass, this getting heavy handed with the stickers. It remained "bastardised" (as my mate Jordan once delicately described it) for years, unused whilst other basses came and went. Eventually the electrics died (around about May last year) and were removed. Up until this idea came around, it just sat there unloved. However, at the weekend I went down to my old flat and picked up the bass in question. I knew it needed work, so I thought I'd start the thread with that. As I've previously mentioned, it still had all the stickers on it when I collected it: On Monday, I got snowed off at work, and spent m afternoon removing the stickers. It took a few hours, but managed to get them off in the end. It's been a long 9 years since I last saw the bass' actual finish. Tomorrow I'll be getting some lighter fluid to remove the sticker glue and to give it a good clean up. The pickups will be added at the weekend, and I'll keep you posted with pics. There's a strong chance I'll have a gig Saturday night. If that's the case, this'll be used, this starting the relay.

Also, the relay may begin sooner than we think. There's a possibility I may have a gig Saturday night :-D

Huge thanks to 3below for the jazz pickups. It'll be wired up and ready to go soon.
Here you go mate http://www.fender.com/en-GB/support/articles/bass-guitar-service-diagrams/ The Frank Bello bass is a P / J layout, or the Hot Rod Precision.
Cheers, the hot rod P is pretty much the same as the SD diagram. What's throwing me off the most is the capacitor on the volume pot from the P. Is it ok to leave it on? Should I take it off? Does a tone pot work without one? Saying that though, this thread's outcome is all done to whether or not I can find my soldering iron. If not, I'll take it to a shop, but I'd rather do it myself. I quite enjoy the tinkering/learning side of things. -
Evening all, The BC relay bass is coming along nicely. To wire it up, is was going to use my old P bass harness and add an additional volume pot. Just checked out the harness I have, jack connected to a tone pot (with no cap), wired to a tone pot (with cap). Now, wiring definitely isn't my speciality, but I thought only the tone had a capacitor? James

You mean something like: I've been using a pair of Jaybird SB2 headphones (http://www.jaybirdgear.com/sportsband-bluetooth-headphones/) for about two years now. Absolutely love them. Previously I only used earphones (mainly sennheiser) so this was my first set of proper headphones. They're intended for use as a pair of sports headphones (gym, running, etc), but I got them as they're wireless. Considering they're wireless (Bluetooth) the sound quality is amazing, deep, thumping lows, sparkling highs, the works. Which is great for me as I listen to just about everything. Where they're designed for sports use, they hold tight on m swede (not too tight though) and are sweat resistant too. A nifty little feature is on the right earpiece. There's a central button which is on/off, play/pause, answer call/hang up. In addition to this, around it there are 4 more buttons, skip tracks back and forth and volume up and down. My only gripe with them, is I'm worried that if I drop/lose my phone, have it stolen, I won't know until I'm 30 odd feet away. Other than that, they're great, nice range of colours too. Got me an orange set.
You guys! I tell you to keep it quiet at the weekend because I was going to be busy, and when I come back... two hours just trying to catch up!!! Found the sign up thread, and signed up.
Haha, sorry. Na, I'm really not.

Indeed
I suggest me make a list with participants and: 1) Location 1a) if applicable, would they drive to collect/deliver? How far? 2) agree to post if necessary? 2a) are they "hand in locally only"? ... it's doable, come on, let's do it!
Way ahead of you buddy. Already compiled a list and constantly adding to it. At the moment it's only name, screen name and location. Just before it kicks off I'll be adding handover details and contact numbers. Once this preliminary list is completed, it will be sent to every member that has "officially" signed up.
I think this is whats Jimryan has gone for mate with half to BC and half to cancer research?
The best degreaser is naptha (lighter fluid).
Really?!? I wouldn't have thought of using it.
Count me in if it gets to my neck of the woods (East Yorkshire / Humberside). Great idea!
Hi pete, mosey on over to the participants thread to sign up
Does your degreaser have to come from Poland or will you accept suggestions from other countries?
*sighs* I suppose other countries will suffice.

Evening all, Not an overly interesting topic I know, but... Can anyone recommend a decent polish/de-greaser? For years I've used the Kyser "dr stringfellow" polish. It's ok, but I'm after something that'll not only make my bass look new, but something that helps get some of the grease and oil off and that doesn't just smear. I remember this stuff being pretty good and now it's rubbish. Any recommendations? James

Hey everyone. A wee update, I started prepping the bass today. I've stripped the stickers off, and tidied up the fretboard. Whilst going through my box of odds and sods, I found a nice little pin badge to go on the strap... BC Wants You!
Richard 'iconic' Overcross South Norfolk
Rich, not wanting to sound too stupid, but is overcross the place or surname?

Cheers vinny, I've found one on the Seymour Duncan site that would work.

Haha, only just noticed something. The bass' model number, BC300. It was clearly meant to be. Keeping that in mind, how about we push for at least 300 members/handovers? And make the BC300 do the BC300?
-
That's what I thought. At the moment it looks like it's going to be between the BC Baton or Trailblazer.
spotted a pm is winging its way to you now paul
Haha, I just ok'd Paul too. Is there any way of inviting me in?
