1. I've just picked the bass up from my old flat, I've got 3 pots and knobs, PU's are nearly sorted, gonna dig out the soldering iron, just need a wiring diagram to work to (anyone got one?) I'm gonna remove the stickers so we've got a blank canvass so to speak.
 2.
Jim , I think the BC relay sounded good , your call I reckon , charity /BC sounds good , we could even anounce the event at each gig and put a hat round, though that would be optional .
Really like that idea.
Should the bass get it's own billing at gigs??.."Appearing now on it's tour of the UK..."
Haha, awesome, imagine it on a gig poster "plus special guest, the BC Relay bass"
 3. Just walked through the front door, the intro to Agatha Christie's sparkling Cyianide's pretty funky
 4.
Hi! +1 ... fantastic idea/thread ... happy to help out ... How about the BC 'Trailblazer' (?) - a Bass which marks a trail through a musical wildness ... not wild(er)ness.. I'll get me coat..!
It's going on the poll
 5.
If I can add my tuppence, I think we should collect for BC rather than for charity - after all charity begins at home etc. and the site is in dire need of cash.
Sounds reasonable. Depending on how much it gets, how about a 50/50 split?
 6. Another thought, like TimR's post. How about, with the bass, a white BC polo goes with it. The shirt gets signed and worn at the gig/ rehearsal. How's that idea?
 7. The photos will be one of hand over and one of it being played. Once it kicks of, I've open a tracking thread and a photo thread which will hopefully be pinned. Charity, cancer research is who I was going to choose, with (depending on how much I accumulates) some proceeds going to the site as well, as it wouldn't be possible without it. You're right, it has, I thought it was a fun idea, but expected it to get shunned as ludicrous
 8.
I've just tweeted this thread and will tweet the "real" one periodically, when the relay is up and running. Thanks Jim, looks great fun!
Cool, cheers bluejay, The BC Bass Relay's official Twitter correspondent :-p
 9.
Maybe this needs to be pinned - a bit obvious really but nobody else has suggested it...
Not so much this thread, but the "real" thread when it gets underway should be
 10. This is going to be AWESOME! Haha. One problem though. Needs a name. I'm on my phone and don't think I can do it, could someone add a poll. The BC bass, either the torch or the baton Thoughts?
 11. Just remembered, I've still got the old wiring harness from my VM precision (minus the PU), could someone help out with how to use that and to wire in a second volume pot?
 12. If anyone can help with the pickups, ideally as cheap as humanly possible, either message me or reply to the items wanted post
 13.
I was going to suggest that as there will be too many suggestions, if anyone has a problem they can go and think of their own awesome idea
Cheers pete :-p
 14. I'll sort out a mock up of a wee set of rules later this afternoon and post them. Also, Can I at least choose the charity please?
 15.
What about anyone that uses it puts a pound in a jar (paypal or similar)?
That could work. Could work quite well actually.
 16.
Great idea - if it gets to the North Thames Delta count me in. I have a Kent Armstrong pup lurking in my bits shoebox you can have, if you still need a P pup.
Hi Paul, Still sorting PU's so would be appreciated.
 17. Also photo of a couple more cool photo opportunity "awards" highest and lowest passovers, most northern member, most southern member, most long distance hand over (eg, say I travel to London one day, just for a day out, and a member from the highlands, is also in London that day, the distance is counted from members homes).
 18.
I've got a hard case that you're welcome to use if this baby has got a lot of traveling to do...
IF it has a lot of travelling, it's starting to look that way. Hard case would be cool, as we could all sign the outside of something, but I reckon a gigbag would probably do it.
 19.
Make sure you get good contact details of whoever has the bass next. We did this on another forum only with a shirt. Everyone had to wear the shirt at a gig and put something in a memory box that travelled with the shirt. The contents of the box were kept secret and there was some interesting stuff in it. The shirt and the box are now with a bass player who hasn't answered any correspondence and hasn't passed it on... I'll see if I can find the website.
Cool, any other organisational tips or info to share tim as I'd be very appreciative.
 20.
Great idea - strikes me as a great opportunity to perhaps raise some money for charity too. Could this be sponsored in any way or perhaps a competition 'guess the mileage', or even a world record - with the bass being auctioned at the end. It would be fantastic if some celeb players could be persuaded to play this for one song and sign it too. Mark King always strikes me as a very decent guy for example and if he came in, who else does he know? Just a thought.
I suppose you're right there. Wouldn't have a clue about how to sort out a sponsorship thing for it though. Guess the mileage? I wouldn't know where to start with a guess for that. I'm down with the world record idea though, what would the category be? Celeb players would be truly awesome, if anyone knows or sees any, the photo won't need to be a gig, and it won't be down to the celeb to pass it on, the current BCer would just need a pass over like photo and one of the celeb playing. It would still remain with the BCer though. Charity's a great idea, failing that, proceeds towards the site (...and a BC polo shirt as I've yet to get one :-p)
 21.
On the off-chance this gets held up somewhere, as we won't all be gigging every night, we should probably include filmed rehearsals or other clips - just get some evidence of it being played, eh?
I agree, though gigs will be preferred, filmed rehearsals will move it around a bit quicker.
 22.
Jimryan, you should get some sort of award for this if it works mate I reckon it would make a good story for your local newspaper or radio station or something too. Whatever, it should definitely go on the BC blog, or maybe set up a BC Facebook site for it. It's a f***ing brilliant idea man!
Cheers dude :-)
 23. Also, had an idea, along the theme of the photo competition thread, a best change over photo, most innovative change over and best gig photo. How do they sound?
