1. Well, just got back from the audition/rehearsal. The old bassist didn't even turn up or contact anyone. They handed me a set that he uses, next to all the songs he has the key written to remind him and they only expected me to learn 3 tracks. Turning up having memorised the entire set and requesting additional tracks...they've asked if I wanna join :-D WREY! Excited and pleased? Very. Tired? Very. Mighty pleased with myself though. Isn't it a great feeling when hard work pays off. If the old bassist continues to not turn up or eat in touch, I'll even have his gig slot in a fortnight :-D
2. Ooooooo I need to get me one of these
3.
I was into coated coloured strings a while ago, and like you used Black Beauties until I discovered the Nexus. Really nice strings! Hmmm... I might still have an old pair stored somewhere!
Old pair? They're great strings and only a score a set. Perfect.
4.
He's perhaps the most competent to give opinion on matters bass..? Sounds fine to me. Good luck, and enjoy...

He's probably leaving on good terms with them (good sign for you) and agreed to help them pick a replacement.
Good point both of you
5. Well apparently the old bassist has "handed in his months notice" so it sounds like he's chose to leave. Still can't figure out why he'll be there at the audition/rehearsal. I agree with the added pressure statement, though at the same time I suppose it could also help if they want something played in a particular way and I need showing. Other than that, really can't see why he's going to be there.
6. I honestly can't remember guys. However, on another note, I've an audition for an established function band tonight. Not been with a function band before so should be interesting. One thing that does strike me as peculiar, is the band want their old bass player present in the audition. I can only assume its to see if I'm similar to the old guy, but surely they'd know that regardless. Any of you lot auditioned for a band but had to get the old bassist's approval?
7. I was using DR Black Beauties and got on quite well with them. Recently moved on to Rotosound Nexus and won't be changing back. The Nexus' are fantastic, perfect sound and feel for me. They also for my bass' colour scheme which is ways a plus.
8.
Lots of TV shows with nice bass parts in the theme tunes.
One I've always liked is the intro music to "hey Arnold"
9. Make something up? Ermm...ok, Just seen on FB that TC electronic are pushing a tiny loop pedal. What do people think? How's that?
10.
Come on man, you can remember! Why did you post in 'General Discussion' instead of anywhere else?
Well I'm fairly sure it was bass/music related. It really has escaped me though :-( not to worry.
11. Yeah, let's face it, I'm not going to remember it now :-(
12. Paul, that's he one they've put me on to. If I can get one in black in the UK I will.
13. Hipshot just emailed back. Their A Style bridge won't be a direct fit. However, they actually make a bridge in the A style under their "retrofit" range that will be a direct replacement. Wrey! No re-drilling for me.
14. At 24 I certainly hope it's not about senile dementia. It was definitely bass/music related.
15. Also, I've not used the pre, or the SCPB-3, but on my P I've paired a SPB-3 (quarter pounder) and the MM bucker at the bridge and its a great sounding combo on its on. I had the bucker wired in series on mine.
16. The smb4a is passive. The "a" is alnico, I've got the ceramic version fitted on my P
17.
Was it about Bill Turnbull? I bet it was about Bill Turnbull. He keeps bees, you know.
And chickens too
18. Usually it's pretty good. I remember the thread idea being quite interesting. Obviously not interesting enough for me to remember right now.
19. Earlier, I had an idea for a post. I got a touch distracted, and now I've forgotten it. Hopefully it'll come back to me and I'll change this. Isn't it frustrating when this happens. Hmmmm
20. Seriously WTF!?! Ok the ad tickled me. However, only an svt or something to stand up against a 4x12? When building my 1x15 cab, I had to test it, so I took the "head" out of a 10w Ibanez practice amp to see if it all worked. It did, and loudly. So until I got my TC head, that's how I ran it. It drowned out guitarists with 4x12s no problem and now that I've my little BH250 running it, it's insanely loud. What tickled me in the "attacked" website link was the "mark was wrongfully targeted by an insane dictator" seriously? That cannot be genuine, can it? My mistake if so. Maybe he was unaware he was an extra in the making of "the dictator" film or something. And this, just noticed this: 22. Wrongfully misquoted on the Internet, when Mark Percy was computer illiterate and Internet unaware for years, and subjected to these abuses unawares. "When Mark Percy WAS computer literate". WAS
21.
If the Squier is a CV then the holes do line up ok. Ive changed the bridges on both my Squier's without the need to re drill.
Dave, what bridge did you replace it with? It's not a CV, it's a VM. James
22. Wouldn't need the re-chroming, it's a black one. A bit of grommet strip would probably do :-p
23.
I have some alternative plans if you want to keep the ashtray cover. Plan a; Get a spare ashtray cover. Drill large holes into it so that it is easy to see where the strings would feed into the existing bridge.
This. Fantastic idea. Brilliant, yet so simple. Cheers 3below.
24.
I recently put a Hipshot Supertone bridge onto an Epiphone EB0 and was *really* impressed by the quality. One of their A style bridges might do the job - not sure about screw holes etc but quality-wise it knocks spots off a Gotoh 201 I put on another bass.
You mention the screw holes, this is my main concern. I've put some research in and apparently, they'll still fit a 5 screw fender despite having 4 holes. So I've emailed hipshot asking them.
