Hi all, Does anyone have any old fender catalogues laying about? In particular I'm after one I used to have. I got it just before I started playing, so about 10 years ago. A mate gave me it and he'd had it for a while. I believe it's from between 97-02 sort of time. All I remember about it was it had a blue strat (I believe) on the cover and a section on guild acoustics in the middle. Can't find it on the fender site, but an online copy will suffice. Many thanks James

Drum kit trade for starter bass

Barkin took my wireless kit off me about a week ago. Great guy to deal with, prompt, quick, and informative.

Afternoon, posting this to help out a mate. He's asked if I know anyone that is after a drum kit (and cases) in exchange for a bass. Now you'll have to excuse the lack of info (he's been a bit slow on sorting out photo's and details, but I thought I'd make a start). As far as I'm aware, it's a basic white (i think) kit; snare, toms, kick drum (has a Tama skin I believe), breakables, stands, what you'd expect really. Comes with all the cases too. Neither he, nor myself drives so would need to be a collection job. However, he does live above a pub and should one of you lovely lot help him out, I'll by you a pint whilst he loads the vehicle. From what I've been told, there's nothing wrong with the kit. He got it, but has decided he really wants a bass instead. Just a starter bass will suffice, Squiers, Ibanez GSR (I think), you get the idea, something that's easy to pick and look after, but something that'll actually last. Like me, the kit is based in portsmouth. As soon as I have some more info and photos I'll post and update. Any questions? Fire Away Help this guy become the bass player he so badly wants to be.

Amp

I've a 12w practice amp at home, I'll test it through that later and see how it fares. I can't yet mind, as I'm in the pub. That said though, I run all my bass gear through a guitar head.

If you're ok with budget gear just to get you started like me. I managed to pick a cheap pickup for £20 in a local shop. It's a stick on piezo made for acoustic guitar. It does the job perfectly and gigged with it. It's ideal to get you going and if you're tell into it, you can always invest in a decent one at a later date. I just stick it on and run it through my normal to no problems.

I bought one of theirs a few months back. Like yourself, wanted one as was curious. They're good to get to grips with the instrument. Sound is ok, what you'd expect for the price really. As for trying one...I just took the chance and now I love it. For value it's good as you've got the hardcase, bow, rosin and gig bag with it. Defo need to get it set up though. Hope this helps :-)

Still watching it now :-)

I've got their digital delay pedal, and for the money I think it's brilliant. I can get the exact sound I want from it without hassle. Anything from a heavy echo to a light chorus type sound.

Post your pictures, Lets see what you all look like.

I have this one from a gig last week: And a couple from years/gigs/gear gone by: -
Hi All, Bit of a clear out really. Just a few bits I no longer want, use or need. Ibanez 10w practice amp: IBZ10B, my first amp and still going strong 9 years on...well...sorta, the cone's shagged, but the "head" part still works fine. £10? [s]Nady Wireless Kit: Encore II (http://www.nady.com/encore2.html) gigged once, sat in a bag, in a box ever since. Still works, probably needs a new battery mind. £20[/s] [s]D'addario strings: Bought a box of two, used one set, don't like them, so the other set can go to someone that will appreciate them. £10[/s] 3/4 Size Double bass case: Gear4music one, only time it was used, was during my basses delivery. Since then it's been a very large ornament. £60 For the case I'd rather collection...same for the amp really, but I'll happily post it all at buyer's expense, and as always on here, trades and offers are always welcome.

Hi again, My bass (3/4) came with both a gig bag and semi hard case (gear4music one), are they worth keeping hold of? Or am I better off trying to shift it?

stick on dots are a good idea. Fortunately, I've made a few reference points on the neck with the way it's finished, quite conveniently one on what would be the 3rd, 5th and 7th frets

The bassist from the John Butler Trio used a load on a live gig, I'll try and find it.

Morning all, A Couple of months ago I got my first fretless. A Squier VM Jazz bass. Well, at least that's what I've been told. I'm happy with, a delightful bass indeed. My biggest concern, (well, not so much a concern, but a curiosity) is that it's not a squier one. Either that, or it's been modded or it's a non standard one. It doesn't really bother me what it is, I still like it. I just want to know. I'm sure there are some of you out there too that just like to know. For the sake of knowing. So... According to Fender/Squier, the VM Jazz is as follows: http://www.fender.co...rtno=0326608500 Whereas my one: http://s1258.photobu...i527/jimryan88/ So, is my one just modded? Or something else? The finish looks nothing like the one that's available, the neck looks like it's been forced on (chips and on the back at the heel it looks sanded to fit), the bridge and pickups dont look like the standard ones, obviously there's the second jack socket and scratchplate holes (it came with one one which I removed). The only mod I'm aware of is the straploks. So, any Squier experts here want to chip in?

They look good. I'm still using a IC100-L head to power my rig and to this day it's the best gear I've ever used.

Cheers for the advice guys and keep it coming. In particular, I love the EHX idea. I've never thought of using one of those amps as a little in ear monitor. I might just get one for other gigs too.
