  1. Well, it just hit me. This time next week I'll be gracing the stage at one of the local music pubs. The big difference this time, is that I'll probably take my double bass. I've get loads of times over the years but only with an electric bass. I've only been playing double bass for a couple of weeks, but feel confident to use it live. Admittadly the bass is only a cheap Chinese one (yes, shame on me), but it's doing it's job of getting me used to it until I can afford a decent one. Anyway, back to the matter. I've never gigged with a double before, any tips or advice that applies this time round in comparison to gigging soley with a bass guitar? Many thanks James
  2. Bump for edit on trade options
  3. Looks pretty good, how come you want shot of it? If it's anything like the Big Muff pi I had years ago, I know they can take up a bit of room. I like the idea of it living in a wooden box, could possibly double up as a humidor?
  4. Don't suppose you'd consider a trade for an EHX Micro Qtron?
  5. I had a listen to a FT-2 recently and didn't like the sound of it I'm afraid. The Q-tron +, does your one have the little switch that reverses the filter?
  6. Morning all, I've had this about 2 months now, and like many of you out there, it's not the filter for me. So, it's up for trade, either another envelope filter/auto wah, but could possibly be swayed by a synth pedal as I've always wanted one. preferably a straight trade as I've not much spare cash at the moment. It's not been gigged, just lived in front of my amp. It's a good pedal, just not what I'm after. [attachment=106781:photo.JPG][attachment=106782:photo(1).JPG][attachment=106783:photo(2).JPG]
  7. I've heard a lot of good things about Brecon Jazz. Alas, I can only afford one festival and for me it's bestival.
  8. A bit late, but I don't use my laptop very often. Found his MIA Jazz bass in the for sale section, messaged him about it and was very helpful. The following morning I transferred the cash to his account and the bass was shipped. When it arrived I felt like a kid at Christmas, I'd finally got myself a MIA Jazz...and she was/is beautiful. All in all, very helpful, prompt and great to deal with.
  9. Morning all, With all the lovely sunshine we had yesterday afternoon, it got me thinking. well, more excited. Looking forward to the days of summer and the ever so lovely "festival season". This got me thinking, on a lot of the festival's own forum, a lot of their members for little "forum campsites", a pleasant way to match a face to the type-face we've all been reading and a nice way to socialise in an environment surrounding by the thing that brings us all on here...music. So, as you would a tent, I'm "pitching" (haha, get it?) the idea of festival campsites. If you lot are up for the idea then arrange and organise away. Depending on how things work, BCer's could unite in travel to (depending on location). To start off, I'll be attending Bestival this year and am very much looking forward to it. What are you going to?
  10. You sir, are now £550 richer. payment has gone through.
  11. I had the 4 string version of this in desert gold. Fantastic bass. Got really excited when I noticed the finish and price, shame about the chip.
  12. I have owned a couple of 6'es before. I love using them for chords and such and it will be my main bass. My dilemma is that I've not played the bongo 6 and am fussy with 6'es and although I'm torn between finishes. I just really want to see them.
  13. I'm the other way on that. The only thing I'm certain on other than wanting a bongo, is I want the HH model, I loved the sound of it.
  14. I loved my old 4, but I cant decide on the colour as my favourite no longer exists, and everytime I think about it the thought process is... "I'd love the 4 again...but I'd like a low B...but there's no point in the low B without the high C...but I've not tried it...but I might love it more than the 4...I'll post on basschat...they'll know" lol
  15. Morning all After recently getting laid off, all plans on bass purchases were put on the back burner. However, now that the magical tax rebate time of year has come around once again. I've decided to treat myself. Originally I had loads of basses I wanted...I still do come to think of it, but after much consideration I've narrowed it down to one model. The Bongo. A few years back I had a 4 string in the Desert Gold finish, a bass which I've never got over getting rid of. My problem is this. I know I want a Bongo, but do I want a 4 or a 6. I've previously played 6'es but never a Bongo 6. So, I can either: Stick with the 4, I've played it and know it. Get the 6, and hope I like it. Or, try and track down who has my original one (probably impossible...unless it's one of you lot ) In addition to the above, I also ask: As Desert Gold is now discontinued, does anyone have a Musicman in Tangerine pearl with a picture that does the finish justice and does it have that slight sparkle in sunlight like the desert gold and blue pearl does, And, does anyone in the portsmouth area, have a Bongo 6 I could try to see if I like it before just ordering it as I'm fussy about 6'es. Any help would be fantastic. It's gotten to the stage of losing sleep over deciding what to get. Cheers
  16. A bright orange car sub. I wanted to see how powerful I could make it for the cheapest I could make. Plus, I wanted an orange speaker that was 15". Only problem is I don't have a head to power it at the moment.
  17. It's currently on eBay with a reserve of 255 but would happily trade for a jazz when the listing is over.
  18. Ok, my house mate has had this bass a while. He doesn't know what it is and I don't recognise/remember it. He doesn't play anymore and I'm not a big enough fan of it to warrant keeping it. Any info on it would be fantastic. If anyone has/had one even better. Cheers [attachment=101985:photo.JPG] [attachment=101987:photo(1).JPG] [attachment=101986:photo (4).JPG] [attachment=101988:photo(2).JPG] [attachment=101989:photo(3).JPG]
  19. As I'm sat here doing a it of general up keep and a bit of tidying up on my bass. I wondered if anyone out there, started on one of those awful build, dirt cheap beginner basses and not only started with one, but continues to use it, all these years down the line. Some people use them purely for learning with aspirations to move on and actually do. However, to some (possibly many) these thoughts of moving on do happen, but the original bass turns into "old faithful" I started about 8 years ago with a Stagg BC300. I saved all my pocket money and got it as soon as I could. Yet, as terrible a bass as it is. I cannot bring myself to part with it and frequently use it. One of its pick-ups died earlier this week so I'll be upgrading the electrics when I can afford to do so, but she's still in use. How about you guys?
  20. I built one over Xmas. Did it as a way to save cash and as a fun project to busy me during the time off work. Admittedly, I failed woodwork at school, the challenge added to it. I finished it in about a week and although it's not pro build quality, if that's what I wanted I would've bought one. However, all in all, I'm happy with the end product. It's loud, sounds great and only cost about £75 and that's including the driver at £45. End product: ported 1x 15" rated to 1400w at 4 ohms
  21. Hi all, Just out of curiosity. Any fellow BC'ers heading to/thinking of going to Bestival this year? If so, what you looking forward to?
