Barefaced Compact Gen 2 Metal Grille - SOLD PENDING

I can say quite definitely that it's not a heavy combo, by any means - unless you talk about the sound. I love mine and reckon it's the best combo money can buy. The fact that the head is also easily removed makes it even more versatile. Supreme quality, infinite variety of sound and truckloads of power.

Ok, it took an age (sorry) but this guy is the man to go to for all your Ampeg spares - so I was told. It cost me €23 for a caster and caster socket (€15 of which was UPS). Sincere apologies for the time taken to track down the invoice.

This is the second Gen 2 Compact (again, at the price I paid for it). This is a metal grille version in very good condition and includes the Roqsolid cover which I bought (and is therefore included at no extra cost). All the usual Compact attributes which are well known and documented on this forum. £300 collected and add £20 for a courier in the UK (I'll get a quote for anywhere outside). Being the creature of habit that I am, I have pulled the trigger on a pair of Boogie Subway 15 cabs. As a result, I have two Compacts for sale (at the price I paid for each) - this is number one. Silver cloth Compact in good (used) condition with a Roqsolid cover (with hardboard insert). All the usual Compact attributes that you all probably know by now. I am not keen to deal with couriers if I can help it but am happy to do some travelling to make life easier.
A term used by my 21 yo nephew who attended BIMM for a few years studying bass. Apparently I do not hold my fretting hand "properly" and that I would fail Grade 1 because of this. The fact that I have played bass in bands for nearly as long as he has lived, that he suffers from RSI in his left wrist and thumb and he has the highest grade possible leads me to believe I am missing something and I should continue to learn so I can be like him.
Ah, music college. Maybe I've got music all wrong but part of me thinks that if you have to learn it, you can't do it.

National Health, supporting Steve Hillage at Lancaster University in 1978. I enjoyed SH but jeez NH were tedious rubbish. Next day me and a friend travelled down to the Rock Against Racism gig in Victoria Park in London, The Clash, TRB- somewhat better!!

Good news - and I see the Ampegs are still going strong!

I am assuming your P-bass is a maple neck. I have owned a '66 slab and feel there was a certain extra something about them. The consensus is, however, that they were not unique, in any way other way than the slab body. To that end, I wouldn't worry too much about the bass and see where you go with the pre-amp suggestion above.

As a Virgo, I would only have one choice - a. -
Horribly, I'd have to write it off to experience.

Just received the guitar rack from Pat. Kept me fully informed throughout and packaged to survive a nuclear onslaught. Very happy to recommend. Regards Steve

Being the "house" band at a jam night. What does it involve ?
Ah, I forgot you've seen me jam!
But, luckily, not heard you sing. :-) -
I haven't ever timed it but I reckon 'Say What' by SRV has got to be lengthy. Of course that barely counts as a song but it's a lyric.
It can be great fun, and a# good way to learn and build your repertoire, and don't worry if it all goes to sh*t...it's a jam.
This. You're in goal and facing a penalty in the last minute. Just enjoy the 'seat of the pants' experience. -

Generally that's right. I haven't ever yet had to lend my bass and I would be suspicious of anyone who turned up at a jam without one. If anyone does then it's your call but I wouldn't expect to be lending my bass to anyone. You do get the fret widdlers and I also used to encounter a guy who would get rather 'confused' and get up and do his version of King Of The Road but it's usually good fun. -

I would certainly imagine you'd be providing your rig for other bass players to use. Generally, the form is you play a couple of numbers with your band and then they start rotating the other players who have come along. You may do the last couple of numbers too. I have done it in the past and enjoyed the experience. I haven't ever had my gear thrashed (but then it's capable of being far louder than it's ever used) and it's actually quite good to hear your rig being used by other players.
