2.
Still sucks to be not good enough though and worst part is we never got to do a gig!
I would immediately get that idea out of your head. A band is very much based on the relationship between the members and problems surrounding that are probably more often the cause of sackings (IMHO). I don't doubt it feels like that as you are smarting after the rejection but you should not be questioning your ability.
3. They're great basses and Clarky would love to sell you his I dare say! It's an A/E Precision - Lace Sensor in the usual place and a piezo in the bridge - instant double bass sound.
4. Frampton Comes Alive is fretless P if the sleeve art is anything to go by.
5. Maybe I should have clarified my post. The 71 is original and the two 75's sport Howards work. My point being that you can't easily tell the two apart. Fake tort plates are my bette noir and I wanted to highlight the 'authenticity' of Howards tort plates. I dare say they're simple for him but it took me years to find someone who could produce something that looked right.
6. 3 basses, a 1971 Precision and two Japanese 75 reissues with tort plates from Howard. Now that's quality work.
7. Just sold my Ampeg PF500 and 1x15 to Ade. He is a delight to deal with and thoroughly trustworthy.
8. As soon as I heard it, I knew I'd be chasing the sound of John Deacon in Bo Rhap when he plays the run-down from D to G just before the 'nothing really matters, nothing really matters to me' bit almost right at the end. Those notes are just pure bass tone to me (I appreciate others won't agree).
9.
At the end, tell the guitarist he's a dick!
............. anyway
10. Well, I confess I'm only looking at it compared to the original I actually owned but what the hell ..........................
11. I'll be honest and say I'd prefer a 'clean' one but I just remember the sound of the bass being huge and if it does that ...........................
12. .... and maybe try not to ask for any extra screws if it falls out!!
13. There you are. http://www.classicandcoolguitars.co.uk/
14. That guy is taunting me now! Very nice looking (I know it's not completely accurate before the clever dicks get going) version of a slab Precision on Classic and Cool.
15.
Really referring to your collection of vintage Fenders.
Ok, I didn't twig as I don't really think of them as 'vintage' Fenders. I've done the pre-CBS thing but found that the period 66-73 seem to work best for me which is great from a buying them point of view. Thanks for the compliment anyway. Whatever gear you use, it is a very satisfying thing to be able to sit back and think 'that's me done'. I sometimes think I should look at Barefaced but then I love the sound I get so why take a punt for no real reason?
16. I may use it next time I'm up at Chorley but it's really for rehearsals and recording - maybe the odd small venue. I guess it doesn't take up much room so maybe I'll drag it along.
17. Bob - kindly you didn't add what you were thinking 'what a tw@t'. It's all a pain to move but I just love the sound and haven't really ever heard anything which comes close.
18. Welcome to the Boogie family. There is nothing better (for me, I hasten to add) and have been a dedicated fan for a long time. The Buster looks a brilliant combo and I can only imagine how good it sounds.
19. Man oh man!!!!!! I've turned down for fear of the wreck of the Titanic disintegrating!! Thanks to Phil-osopher10. Steve
20. Just picked up a Walkabout Scout combo bought from Phil. Excellent communication throughout and very well packed. A very good guy to do business with and an excellent deal all round. Thanks Phil, spend that money wisely!!! Steve
21. Wonderful basses. I have one exactly the same and love it. Loads of great sounds and practically no weight at all. Someone is going to be extremely happy with that. As you say, does the best double bass impression of any bass guitar.
22. First step, establish a proper band account (not bank, spreadsheet) and start putting every expense down. You will need this to fend off HMRC when your level of exposure brings you to their attention anyway. Record the gig/merch income so you can then determine the profit - THAT is what gets split and nothing else. If they have the slightest hesitation over that you walk and don't look back. They are taking the pi$$ pure and simple.
