  1. I've got the PF500 and PF115HE combination and it's awesome. Truck loads of depth and all the detail you want with the horn. The 500 is a great amp and has all the facilities you'd want (and a couple I don't). I didn't buy it to gig with but will be using it at smaller venues but suspect it could do most pub gigs certainly. Very happy with it. I did have an issue with the 350 that went before but the shop I bought it from changed it without question and I upgraded (150 extra watts for 15 quid). I have thought about a Walkabout head bolted to the lid so I know where you';re coming from. I can do some measuring if you want.
  2. D'oh, where were you 3 weeks ago when I put up a 'wanted' ad for just this? I have just bought an (excellent) PF500 and PF115 combo. Good luck with the sale.
  3. I think that's the 'nail on the head' for me. The Mesa just sounds immense and has plenty of volume for me so I'm fine with that. I have a daft desire to get another Bass 400 (though the M2000 currently going is very tempting) to drive the other cab but that's a vanity project pure and simple because I cannot imagine ever needing to run the 2x15 AND the 2x18 - mind you, imagine the sound!
  4. As already said, ther 400+ uses a different power section (more powerful using more valves) and has one extra graphic slider than the 400. Never used a 400+ so wouldn't know the difference in sound.
  5. I don't know any of the techy stuff but my Bass 400 (6x6550 power valves) has ben faultless over the 23 years I've owned it and is running on Winged C valves and it's always sounded great. Always buy valves from Watford Valves and I've never once had a problem. Now if you had a Bass 400 I'd be offering you the Earth for it!
  6. My Boogie 400 uses 6550's and I switched to Winged C's and was really impressed with the sound. Can't help with the cryo bit though.
  7. Some excellent valve reviews and test on the Watford Valves site.
  8. You can see from my pic that I have a Fender A/E and I thoroughly recommend it although I have seen posts suggesting the stock pre-amp for the piezo can be tricky. Mine has been modified and sounds great but very 'upright' in tone.
  9. I had a beautiful Wilkes 'Stingray' in the '80s and it was an exceptional bass.
  10. Unhappy to report that the amp didn't work at rehearsal last night. Rear power light on but nothing from the front and no blue power light. Not great as this is it's second outing!! That said, Andertons have been great and will swap it without any quibble so full marks for after sales.
  11. Just bought a PF350 and PfF115HE from .................... Andertons. Recorded in the studio next day and had the same 'hot from the DI' issue mentioned earlier. That said, wonderful tone and suberbly portable. Highly recommended rig.
  12. My 'indoor' rig is the 2x15 but I use the 2x18 outdoors precisely because you lose a lot of bottom end. Mind you, you have to be a total idiot to want to use a 107kg cab at all.
  13. I might qualify for a record! I've had my Boogie Bass 400 and Diesel 2x15 for 23 years and wouldn't dream of using anything else. As soon as I heard it I knew I needn't ever buy anything else. I notice Sting and Macca caught up with me after a few years! I started out with 2 cabs but just never needed the pair. I use a 2x18 for outdoor shows as you lose some bass outside and the 18's are just the job.
  14. Yes, please give us an idea, I may well be very interested.
