1. Bassace is spot on. Easy enough to run at a loss (I usually am).
2. Actually the handle prevents completely stable portrait stacking but I may replace one set of feet with longer ones.
3. Bought a BF Compact from Si. As brief meetings in a car park, resulting in an exchange of cash, go, it was very pleasant. Would like to have more time to chat but nevertheless, an easy transaction and the cab is just as described.
4. Kinda with you there. Easy to demonstrate the signature is not yours (unless Thomann review this forum). Absolutely scandalous though.
5. Pick up change in the 2010? I have Kent Armstrongs in all my Japanese basses and find them much the same as my older basses.
6. I'm down in Portsmouth. Bit of a trek from Leeds. That said if you're that keen I am happy to drive a decent distance.
7. Thanks Geoff. No point in hanging around now I've made the decision. It may get withdrawn though - this is a real wrench and it sounds immense.
8. Ok, the first question answered. It's because every other flight case you see is black and so you won't lose this at a festival - at least I haven't! 2 EV15's at 400 watts each. 4ohms. It's been flightcased for all its life and is in excellent condition. The custom made case actually makes it easier to move around. You tip it up and take the front off and there you go. Trap door at the back for the speaker connection. The case was over £200 (its on its second flightcase). Apart from being made specifically for this cab, I also made sure it wasn't standing on foam when you stand it up, that was to maintain the sound as it was designed to be and not cushioned by foam. Happy to talk about the price or trade for a Barefaced Gen 2 Compact (or even Super 15). This has been all over with me for very many years and has impressed sound men constantly. Good enough for Macca after all. Collection makes most sense but happy to meet up. Go on spoil yourself (maybe when you hear it, soil yourself).
9. Having parted company with the 2x18, this is surplus to requirements, You all know about this head. Approximately 300 watts of monster valve tone. The range of tones is immense and I remain convinced any sound you want is in there. It took me a while to get to grips with the way the controls work with each other but perseverance pays off. Feel free to ask any questions on that front. I've had my Bass 400 for 25 years so have a lot of experience using this set up. Condition is excellent and it comes in a rack case made specifically for it (the rear of the amp is right at the back so air can circulate freely). That cost over £150 itself. I think collection is pretty much the only way but I am happy to meet. Two trade possibilities - A Barefaced Gen 2 Compact or a Mesa Walkabout/Fathom/Carbine M6/M-Pulse 600 head) - 0k that's 5!
10. Agree with everyone else here Geoff is an absolute gent. Bought a Barefaced Compact of him and visiting him was a pleasure. Lovely guy to deal with lovely guy to talk to. You can deal with him with total confidence. Steve
11. Do TKS cabs make a good pedestal I wonder? It would appear so.
12. Good grief man, you must be crazy. I hope the new owner is a virtuoso worthy of it?
13. Ok, I've overcome my fear that a Bass 400+ would squash a Barefaced cab and have invested in a Compact. The question is, can it be used on its side? The old site suggested not but then it's half an old Super 15 isn't it? That's orientated 'landscape'.
14. There's about to be a £20 fee and rather a lot of activity in the for sale section!
15. Hi, when you say Brighton-ish, are you north, east or west (accepting you won't be south)?
16. Seems he is preparing to leave us finally. Few people have ever been able to make a single note count more.
17. I have done two, an Abba tribute and a Dire Straits. Both were great fun and it was wonderful to play some really great songs.
18. Big fan of Fender Japan (check my signature). Very good instruments and outstanding value.
19. Gad, that is pretty. It may even be the one time when a pearlised scratch-plate is acceptable ;-)
20. Indeed. I'm probably just sub-consciously envious of people that can do it
21.
Basically though, I think it should stop.
Agreed. Each to their own but I cannot abide bass solos and don't recall a single one that worked for me. Very much my own opinion, I hasten to add.
22. Excellent, mine will be worth thousands in a couple of weeks then!
