1. I've got my busy sixteenth note-feel from him and that has changed my whole bass-style. I can listen to him in small doses.. I don't think I have ever been able to listen to an entire cd or record but I remain a fan. He's amongst the greats...
2. I was listening to a lot of punk and new-wave at the time here in Belgium and I loved Echo and The Bunnymen, The Sound, etc.. A friend of mine introduced me to "Teentown" and I thought it sounded awful. It took me years to get into his style but then he had a huge impact on me.
3.
Actually recorded this in January, but only got around to finishing the edit last night:
Watched it already four times...one of the best things I've seen and it beats the original, great atmosphere, nice ideas...
4. Great pic...got confused for a moment and thought I saw Eric Idle at the right...
5. Glad to be of help and thank you for the compliment.. good luck with the sale !
6. I got one of these as a spare...great bass when you compare it with the price. Recorded a YT clip with it. Only sold it because I got my Lefay back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Xd2394nEYs
7. I always expect Neil Peart to say "Life is a box of chocolates"
8. Enjoyed China Crisis a lot (saw them together with Simple Minds in Brussels years ago). Thanks for the music and greetings from Belgium...
9. It struck me that you can't say Jim Kerr ever sang out of tune... great band. Had a huge influence on me at a certain moment years ago.
10. I used to have one but I didn't keep it...it lacked a bit of warmth imo..it had that sort of trebly thing going on which you find in active basses but takes the character away in your tone. I have a '77 jazz now and that's the real thing..I wouldn't get rid of your Fender..This is a clip of something which I recorded with the Bailey.. Controls were also fragile, didn't give me the impression that they were sturdy and the tuning pegs needed adjusting frequently. 11. I keep forgetting this one although it's one of his best studio-sessions.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6iYCMbyw-g
12. Love that song...thanks for posting.

14. I still don't understand why Jerry Barnes replaced Edwards...He's a totally different player than Bernard, has another sound and his playing is more than sloppy occasionally (countless times he looses the groove during solo's). He also incorporates slap a lot during these songs while Edwards was very selective in using that...while Edwards was more the quiet one in the back, Barnes draws a lot of attention which gives it another vibe. I don't want to see an Edwards clone but Barnes doesn't do it for me... This is a great Chic instrumental with some tasteful slap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_RqOsLrAv2k
15.
Actually, I found it interesting but the quirkiness wore off quickly. A minute into the song I was yearning for a melody. The bass player was fine, but I wasn't hearing anything especially creative. Not a knock -- just a critique.
+ 1... I found the voice irritating, sorry...
16. Nice cover and love the bass... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRk-1fc1_-Q&feature=youtu.be
17. That's the weird thing with Palladino.. in a way he is a very busy player but he does it so well that it doesn't bother. Someone asked me once to learn "New York Minute" on fretless because he wanted to cover it and I learned it note for note. When we played it he told me after one rehearsal "that bass is just too busy, you should play it like on the record". He was surprised when he found out I played the same thing and hadn't added a note. I once asked Pino for advice when people would ask me to play like him in the studio.. he said "Tell them to f*ck off" :-)
18. Watched it and liked it a lot...
19. Thanks for the reminder...I always enjoy BBC4 around here in Belgium...some great documentaries have passed the review...
20.
I think he's a truly remarkable player - I just loved his work with Paul Young at the time. I have to say though, that he is not really the man for the job with The Who. I love that band to bits and simply can't bear to watch them with Pino on bass. It's not his fault, but his style is not what The Who requires. As said above, he was drafted in when John passed away and who in their right mind would turn down that gig? John was pretty close to deaf later on in his life, lip reading and watching Pete's hands, to keep up on stage. That explains why he went for that mechanically processed distorted sound, which was a bit grim. To get an overdriven sound, he had to process it, as Daltrey was going ape about stage volumes (as was PT). To his failing ears (and I really don't mean that as an insult) it probably sounded decent, but on it's own, it was a horrible tone. Anyone who doesn't get Entwistle's unique playing style doesn't get what The Who were originally about. That's not meant as an insult to anyone either. Even with Zak doing 100% the business, it's not like The Who without John. They have the perfect right to change the band, but it saddens me. Who should they get in? God knows!
Maybe some consider it a bad idea but I always thought Billy Sheehan would have been a good alternative... not the tapping Sheehan but the rock solid bass player he has proven to be in some occasions.
21. I'm a huge fan of Palladino and I consider him as one of the best bass-players I know (saw him with PSP and that was one of the best concerts I've ever seen). However I still prefer him on fretless...on the fretted bass he has a style, on a fretless he has an identity. I know it's Pino when I hear him play the fretless, I don't always have that when he plays fretted...but I guess the bills have to be paid.
22. I would leave even then ! :-)
23. Sorry but it would drive me crazy to hang around with these drug-orientated musicians however good the music might be... Two days in this environment and I would pack my bass and leave ...I'd rather work and play with other people who don't seem to be somewhere else in the galaxy.
24. Just bought another bass from Isabass and I want to say that the transaction went like it should and that Isabass is a trustworthy bass-chatter... Good luck with the sale...
25. Saw this on YT but I wasn't really into this sort of thing...I am a King fan but this is just meaningless slapping. I'd rather hear this within the context of a song.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-OZglo3u28
