1. I've never liked that song before but I do like it now in the major form...
2. I've got one weapon against GAS : there's a lot of water between the UK and Belgium...luckily that solves some problems.
3. I watched the concert on BBC4 with the big orchestra and I was floored by it.. No in-ears at that time but he was spot on in every note, his time was unbelieveable although the arrangements were tough and his guitarplaying was superbe.. All that from a musician who can't read a note. What an amazing talent.. Funny that he appeared with the bagpipes which he could also play :-)
4. Thank you... he has worked with several bassplayers but apparantly he didn't like my playing.. Those things happen, not much you can do about it. It was a bit painful since I performed with him live after which he said that it was an honour to have me in his band. The next gig I got a call that it was cancelled .. I was walking around in Oostende (Belgium) with my girlfriend and pointed at a bar and said "Normally I would have played here now but it was cancelled" but as I was saying it I heard music and it turned out to be Tony was playing there anyway but with another bassplayer.. I called him for an explanation the next day and he told me that 'I was bringing the blue shirt on stage and lacked energy because I had to work during the day.." (I work as a receptionist at a police-station but I'm not a policeman). He's been gigging every now and then around here in Belgium but with another bassplayer (excellent, by the way) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJnb8Yon-nU
5. Years ago when Tony (the man Pino is doing this session for) lived in Belgium I got a call to do a gig with him so I had to learn all the Pino-licks from the excellent live cd "Naked Flame". I did my best but I got fired :-) (I heard an excuse that I was unable to give energy on stage because I combined gigs with a daytime job... maybe I would have preferred that I just wasn't good enough, there's nothing wrong with saying the truth, I can handle it :-)).
6. I love the bass-lines of Stories for Boys or Two Hearts beat as one.. also the simple pluck in Unforgettable Fire.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIuAFBRyjj4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdKdl3e8sl4
7. It makes me feel really good that so many people around here share the same feeling for "Wichita Lineman". I'm from Belgium so I'm not that good with words in English but I completely understand the feelings and thoughts that are shared here. If you read those few lines it's practically nothing but there is such an immense world behind these words.. I'm moved everytime I hear the song and the weight of those sentences is just incredible...genius songwriting especially since it's not clear what it's about but everybody "understands"
8. Venus and Mars - Wings....great songs especially "Love in song" (touches me everytime)
9. Nice bass but according to the forum rules you have to state a price ...
10. I'm in a Campbell mood for over a year since I bought his last cd.. thanks for the tip.
11. That's my bass I sold to him.. he takes good care of it so it seems.
12. I paid 1500 euros for my new Wal MKII around 1994 which was a lot of money at the time...
13. I had one of these and liked it a lot... very well build, a great fast neck, versatile electronics. Just a great bass for that price.. I only sold it because I could get a Squier JV Precision. You won't be disappointed with these basses.. Made a short clip with it (just the two separate pick ups, no blending) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNXO67PQdQk
14. Beautiful, why would anyone sell such a thing of beauty...
15. A Belgian luthier build this one a couple of years ago and I play it every now and then.. Has a parametric eq system which gives you a lot of sounds.. Five string fretless and four string fretted.. Short clip without changing the sound, only the pick up balance http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tQjTEaC5zTk
16. Got my old Lefay back through a trade for an Elrick...nice to hear those slides again. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjcsReNQjoI
17. Barend has excellent taste ! :-)
18. Trade for an Epifani cab + some extra cash your way can be considered...
19. I read somewhere that those high parts were played by Simon himself on a sort of sixstring-fretless ? 20. Have a bump so this can be sold and stops teasing me ...
21. Thanks for the democracy !
22. Just to say that Blackadder is a trustworthy person to deal with..(but Baldrick might disagree) Good luck with the sale..
23. This is my JV (it still has Fender on the headstock followed by Squier)... Really like it, one of the best basses I have ever owned and not planning to let it go (even my cat likes it !)
