1. Why do we have to pay more ? :-) 750.00 GBP = 944.562 EUR
2. A fellow bass-player (thanks Nick) posted this on a Dutch bass-forum.. Some famous bass-players talk about the influence of Jaco.. Didn't want you to miss this ..great watch (hope this hasn't been posted before) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxqIbF4Pka8
3. Could you tell what the controls are on the doubleneck...?
4.
I think the term "inimitable" applies to Mick Karn far more than most other bass players. He was a one-off in terms of his sound and his whole approach, to playing the bass. As this line demonstates , along with so many others you could point to, he is always close to the centre of attention when he plays but no matter how busy he might be, never gets in the way of the song. This is no mean feat. Like youself, i like to have a go at one or two of his lines now and again, but find it very hard-going to accurately follow what he is doing, probably because he has a genius for throwing in the unfamiliar and the unexpected. His playing is completely unfettered by conventional patterns and the cliches that many bass players rely on because by his own admission , he never learnt any of that stuff prefering instead to develop his own unique style. The chap in the video does a great job on a tricky, disjointed bass part and reminds me how brilliant Mick was. Good find.
This is so true...
5. Played it this morning with a new set of strings, it inspired me and I fell in love again...I'm going to keep it. Thanks for the feedback and the emails anyway..
6. Doing a couple of gigs around here in Belgium with Katrina (from the Waves), clip (not the best quality) filmed during of these gigs this summer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb9NqZ8St9w
7. No problem, I'm always eager to learn :-) (still a nice song)
8.
5/8
Why 8 and not 4 ?
9. If I understood the new rules well enough, you have to wait 36 hours before a bump or something ? Well : bump :-)
10. Thanks .. Not expecting to get rid of this soon since this is rather a "niche" bass but you never know.. When the right person comes along who finds "something" in it which appeals to him that's a comforting thought for both of us. But I guess I will have to be patient :-)
11. Got this bass some time ago from Scooby here on bass.chat and have played it with great pleasure.. Still noticed that I got back everytime to my old Sandberg which has a humbucker in the bridge position which I prefer a lot.. So this bass is for sale again... It's a very light bass (3,3 kg), has a very low action which demands little effort while playing and the quality of every aspect of the bass is amazing, versatile enough to cover a lot of styles. Especially the weight is such a nice surprise. Some specs : Lightweight swamp ash body Crotched walnut top (350£ option) Maple neck Two way adjustable trussrod Width at nut 42mm Wenge fingerboard radios 12" 24 frets + zero fret Medium fretwire 34" scale 19" string spacing at bridge Bartolini J Coils Bartolini NTBMF 3 band EQ Switching for active/passive and three way mid frequency switch: 250/500/800Hz Black Hipshot Ultralight tuners and B style bridge Dunlop Straploks This bass wasn't used a lot (two or three live gigs) and costed 2650 £, I'm selling it for 1850 euros (no trades please since I got my eye on something else (with a humbucker :-)) Local pickup is possible but I can ship it for around 30 euros to the UK (you can always check my feedback around here) Some pics and a quick vid which I made a while ago for some other bassplayers (unfortunately Dutch spoken but the sound is still there). Thanks for looking and always ready to answer questions or send extra pictures..
12. Could you tell me where the dots are situated on the side of the fretless neck of the doubleneck ? (between or on the lines ?) A picture would be helpfull.. Thanks..
13. Then I was mistaken for a long time.. Surprises me still since the tone and the phrasing seem so "vintage" Pino (especially the fills in the muted guitar section are very Pino-like) but I don't claim to be right so... Bit disillusioned still... :-)
14. "Wifezilla".... priceless :-)
15. Probably wasn't your intention but thanks for pointing me out to this instrument.. Didn't plan on buying a Fender again but I was so drawn by its looks that I checked the video and loved the sound and the possibilities. I'm going to buy one over here in Belgium, thanks !

18. Been playing my fretless Wal for a while now during gigs (sorry about the costume) and if I had to choose between a fretted or a fretless bass I would go for fretless.. there's the melancholy, the freedom, the madness and most of all : the lack of routine since you have to pay attention every time you play a note..good luck with the bass !
19. I once tried out my new amp with this bass but got so excited that I kept playing without changing anything on the amp :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW4BOQeXUDw
