1. The title "threatening" was in no way to be taken seriously :-) Seemed like a good thing to draw attention...
2. I thought that was Pino....
3. How much I love Pino I can't understand what he's doing in the Who.. You need someone with a bit of frustration, agression or wit in that bass chair (you play what you are) and Pino is far too sweet to deliver the thing Entwistle supplied.. Not that he has to copy Entwistle but it takes a certain kind of egoistic over-self confident bass playing which still blends with the rest of the band. It's more than putting a leather jacket on, like someone said "cleverness is no substitute for true awareness"
4. I saw it and then bought the cd (which I'm afraid had never heard before..)

6. I watch a lot of stuff on Youtube in the hope to be inspired as a bass-player... Not everything turns out to be as great as it should be because for instance great bassplayers are sometimes lousy composers or the technique overshadows the song. I enjoyed this and it sounded refreshing...great stuff imo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PIcuqDaMQWI
7. I'm actually quite a fusion-addict but I find myself really happy playing bass on "Sultans of Swing". It's just a great song and I never get tired of it... When you play it with a great guitarplayer who can stretch it out the way it should, it's just great fun.
8. It's an interesting path you're following...from high end basses to vintage Precisions...it's a surprise every time. I hope you'll find what you're aiming for (luckily I got it solved after 30 years but I'm still looking at the pictures :-))
9. I had to learn a couple of Stones songs and I was amazed just how good Wyman and how unique his style is.. It has its roots in rock but it still sounds funky to me in a way.. Give me Wyman anytime (above Flea :-)) People who mock him should have a go at learning a Stones song, you'd be surprised. I'm always amazed by the people in the UK and how they can put their "own" people down while the rest of Europe (also here in Belgium) is envious of what your country had contributed to pop music (same thing with McCartney around here). Weird folks .. Have a listen to this (the whole song !), it has some great fills and the feel is unique.. 10. Thank you... not much you can change about the tone but I like the simplicity of a Pro Wal. There's just one pick up and volume and tone are all the way and I love the sound. Just put it through a Tc Electronic RH450 and a Bergantino AE212 in my livingroom and it keeps inspiring me.. Let's not forget the great Mick Karn.. I can try to avoid his style but he was a huge influence and everytime I pick up a bass his spirit appears. Not that I pretend to be any good but it's a great thing that he lives on in the playing of hundreds of bassplayers, that's a great legacy !
11. Since it's raining most of the time I'm just keeping myself occupied with some programmed loops while I try out my new in-ears.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=20CM_uDBOZI&feature=youtu.be
12. I love these amps and it's so easy to fit them in the gigbag of my bass. I have a more powerful Epifani UL902 but the TC Electronic is so easy to use and sounds just great.
13. How much I like Graceland, "Hearts and Bones" comes really close.... By some (even Simon himself) it is considered as a flop but there isn't a bad song on it and the rythm section with Steve Gadd, Anthony Jackson and Marcus Miller is just great.. It is true that since Graceland Simon hasn't put out anything stunning...(a couple of songs on "You're the one" are nice) but a cd like "Surprise" (with Pino Palladino) didn't move me at all... His singing hasn't improved either and he seems to have some mental issues imo..when he was a guest on "Jools" they showed some footage of "50 ways" and he refused to watch it and it didn't look like a joke.
14. Graceland had a huge influence on me (and still has). Still not too fond of what he's showing here to my surprise...seems so out of tune http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAgd9Ijw6WI
15. Great price for such a fabulous instrument.. beaucoup de succes !
16.
In its melodic and historical context I'd go for Sir Paul on 'Something'.
+1
17. This is just gorgeous, one of the best looking Wal-basses I have ever seen....
18. Same thing.. If I hadn't heard "Mrs Vanderbilt", it would have been a different life for me..made me want to pick up a bass.
19. Hi Andy, collection is getting really small after finally understanding that sound is in the fingers and that I actually like basses with humbuckers, took me some time to figure that out :-) I'm still busy (playing concerts with some local bands and with Katrina (from The Waves)). Can't complain for someone who hasn't got ambition.. Good luck with your sale !
20. Andy is a great seller to deal with...bought his Fodera Monarch a couple of years ago and nothing to complain about.
