1. Bump.... Possibly it'll turn out in a trade within a couple of days although a sale would have been preferable..maybe someone still turns up who wants to buy this bass. Thanks for the reactions so far...have a great weekend.
2. Really enjoyed that clip...pure magic and my admiration has only become bigger.
3. Thanks for the compliment but rarely get impressed by what I'm doing myself.. In fact selling this bass is part of a bigger sell-out which I have been doing the last years.. I used to own 29 basses but I found that all those great ambitions with certain instruments turned out to be a dead-end street in the present climate.. Never has the musical perspective for bassplayers been so little stimulating to own a wide spectrum of basses when in the end you seem to need only a plain bass which does every job.. Why own fantastic five-strings capable of alternative tuning with d-tuners or have fancy fretlesses when in the end I end up doing gigs where I have to play root-fifth basslines...Not that there's anything wrong with that but the climate has changed and it depresses me as a bass-player... Seems like I can only be creative anymore in my livingroom but as a free-lance bassplayer it's not that obvious anymore to do that on stage anymore.. Playing fretless live for instance doesn't seem to exist anymore, things have become so conservative.. Sorry for the off-topic but wanted to have that off my chest..
4. Thanks Jens, had just looked it up myself and made some new measurements.. It's around 18mm.. hope that helps.
5.
hey thanks for your answer. 7mm? that would be rather tight ;-) maybe you mean 17?
Think I got it wrong, sorry.. like I said : I know a bit how to play a bass but have never been interested in the specs of basses, they just feel comfortable to me or they don't :-) I started measuring the space between the strings near the nut and I came up with 7mm..but I guess that's not what you wanted to know. If I'm still mistaken, correct me.. always ready to learn :-)
6. Stringspacing is around 7 mm, bridge is not sideways adjustable...
7. Our version of Paint it black for who it may concern :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAMwOsoT4WM
8. I'll check the bass tonight as soon as I'm home, still at the office but I'll get back to you..
9. I played Honky Tonk Woman live last year on a Pedulla fretless and I was free to have a bass solo.. I added some distortion and it was great fun..still in 4/4 though..
10. Deal didn't go through in the end... This is available again..
11.
this is me and my depressed self haha
It's not the style I play myself but actually liked this.. It doesn't have to be virtuoso playing just as long as your timing is ok and the fun shines through. Good job..!
12. Sold pending payment...
13. I always thought this was one of the best looking basses ever but there is one flaw which "bothers" me..:-) This bass has such a huge (and beautiful) headstock so I can't understand why they put all of the tuners so closely together while you have all the space in the world.. It doesn't minimalize the value or the beauty of this instrument but they could have spread it a bit more...
14. These are amazing basses...I used to work in a shop where they had Ken Smith, Alembic, Wal, etc... I found myself playing this sort of Peavey-bass a lot, it could easily compete with all those more expensive basses imo.. Good luck with it..
15. I read an interview once with Raphael Ravenscroft who played the immortal saxophone on Baker Street. He said that he had a good thing going doing studio sessions until he was asked to play on that particular song. He noticed that he had less work àfter that song and wondered why.. He heard from the people he used to work for that they thought he would be too expensive to book since the success of Baker Street and they didn't dare to contact him anymore :-)
16. Apparantly he wasn't the easiest person to work with but when I listen to the recordings there are these clever arrangements and the care for detail.. Amazing how he had a clear grip on the production (the importance of the percussion for instance) and got the best out all of these musicians..
17. A couple of weeks ago while I was soundchecking in a club just before a gig I heard some music coming through the stereo and suddenly I remembered the tune and it felt great to hear it again after so many years.. It was "Night Owl" by Gerry Rafferty. The next day I started looking on YT for some other stuff and found this documentary about Rafferty and I admired his love for music and his stubbornness when the marketing side was concerned.. It's in four parts and I found it very interesting.. Also included here is the video with Mo Foster supplying that great fretless bass-line on Night Owl with some nice close-ups of his vibrato.. If I 'm not mistaken this particular fretless bass is for sale at The Gallery... Been listening to Rafferty since a couple of weeks and really enjoyed his music while driving in my car.. 18. Looks great, amazing how low the action seems to be...
19. I have owned a lot of Fenders and even a '66 Fender Jazz... It's a matter of taste but I prefer my Sandberg bass above everything I have ever owned. I would buy this as an extra Sandberg but unfortunately a friend of mine is building a bass for me and this holds me back from buying this.. These are amazing basses which combine all the best from the "competition". Good luck with the sale.. these are the best and they cut through anything when playing live in a band.
20. I don't like it...I get the feeling they are trying more to impress than to move people.. The arrangement is also too busy for me..every gap there is, someone has to fill in and this song makes me just nervous. I'm fond of some fusion pop but they ruined a good song with this Frankfurt Music Fair-approach. Can't imagine listening to more than two songs in a row..however great they play, it starts to get predictable.
21. Best amp in the world imo...good luck with the sale.
22. I didn't think I would be so devastated when I heard the news... I love his feel and he's the kind of drummer you would be proud of to have in your band.. Thanks for the music, Levon !
23. Everytime I hear PYT I remember this thing which happened yéars ago.. I was working at a big firm which constructed helicopters etc and my boss was an American here in Belgium. We always listened to the American Forces Network and they played this song PYT a lot.. Me and my boss (who was at the other corner of the room at his desk) had a habit of shouting out the "Ooh" part very loudly, no matter what happened. At a certain moment he was in a big meeting with some really important Japanese people and they were in this big transaction-discussion. Suddenly PYT was played on the radio and I was in big doubt : should I yell "Ooh" or not ? I decided to take the risk and to my surprise my boss turned away from the discussion and shared my "Ooh". Brings up memories every time I hear this song...
