1.
Very Clever! But reggae??! Why do you think what you did has anything in common with reggae? Not a challenge, I know how good you are, just interested.
Thanks for the compliment... well reggae, hmmm... perhaps it has more to do with the hi-hat on the 2 and 4 than with the bass. I'll just call it fusion
2. Just bought myself a Victor Bailey Fender Jazz this weekend and I've been busy playing it at home with drumloops to give me some rhytm..Bit of noodling around on a reggae-feel while trying to keep the timing as tight as possible... Jazz

Just bought this Victor Bailey jazz bass yesterday... Always loved the look of these basses and finally I got one..
4. I totally agree with you... he's a great bassplayer with a vivid imagination and plenty of energy. I wish him all the best...!
5. Nice shop where you can take your time to try out lots of basses...Owner is a kind and great bassplayer who helps you out any way he can.
6. Probably but he was at the Grammy's...
7. I was blown away too when I saw the band at the Grammy's but if you look closely at that video of that show it's not played live (you can hear busy fills but his hand doesn't move)..however hat's off for that bass-player.
8.
I bought a new one last week to take on hols. I have no problem tuning (just takes about a million turns of each tuner) but I have a problem with it staying in tune - each night the string (esp A,D, and worst culptit G) have detuned at least a semitone and sometimes much more. So how long is it before the strings stop stretching?
I have the same problem still (after having it around two months)..I tune it everytime but it is very fragile.
9. It happens to all of them.. I was recently talking about James Taylor and a bit later about The Pretenders...no one had ever heard of them. I used to date a girl who was twenty years younger than me and we were talking about music and I said" If I'm not mistaken "Nothing compares to U" was actually a sort of B-side of a Prince-song" to which she replied "What's a b-side ?"
10. Don't agree about the lack of decent records he has put out... "Chaos and creation in the backyard" is one of his best albums in years. If you say you don't like it, you should first listen to it..the collaberation with that Radiohead-producer was the best move he has done in years.. On every Macca-album there is still enough to be enthousiastic about, I admit that not every song is great (not abnormal if you think what has come out of that head during all these years) but Paul has made my life "better" with his music. I see it as a privilege to enjoy this music and I am so glad that it has been the soundtrack of my life.. No one can take that away..
11. I've owned three.. a white, pink and red one. The white one was the nightmare.. the others were ok. It's such a huge disappointment when you put all your money in your dreambass which in the end wasn't any good.
12.
I think they're pretty decent. I've always wanted one, but then been put off buying them in the past as I am told some can have very thin necks that bend like mad and need constant adjustment.
In the eighties I saved all my money to get a Jaydee.. It took me years to get that money since I didn't have a lot of money and hardly had anything left. Finally I made the trip to the bass center in Wapping and bought a white Jaydee.. It was a nightmare, the neck was absolutely no good.. I had it set up in a shop and by the time I got home it was curled again. Send it back to John Diggins, the bass got lost during the transport back home, I finally got it back heavily damaged and the neck was the same as before..I wasted on my money on that bass, still angry about that and the way they made these badly build basses..
13.
Family Snapshot by Peter Gabriel, nice work by Levin on that one.
If I'm not mistaken, it's not Levin but John Giblin...
14. This is one of the most beautiful basses I've ever seen...would love to have one of these. Still really weird that they didn't include side dots but it was probably the former owner's choice.. Good luck with the sale of this fabulous instrument..
15. If I'm not mistaken it"s Padouk.. I opened up the cavity but there were no specifications written inside.
16. Because of the snow just staying inside and jamming along to drumtracks on the internet to stay in shape.. Still a great fretless Pro I have in my possession. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mac1ZdZnGsM&feature=youtu.be
17. Thank you, Greg ! Enjoy the bass...
18. I'm actually not that good in smiley's so I don't have a clue what these ones mean...
19.
Waaaay back in the mists of time, before I discovered bass, one of my favourite tracks was from Bryan Ferry's Bete Noire album, entitled "Kiss and Tell" Upon reviewing this track, I found a bass tone to die for, a laid-back but punchy groove with tidy technique... Oh and a bass credit for one Marcus Miller... Super player.
I thought that Kiss and Tell was played by Guy Pratt... (he mentions it in his book how he came up with the riff) One of my favourite Miller-vids, the stamina blows me away http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zaHKL3uOkLc
20. It's okay to not take yourself too seriously but you should take the music seriously...when you notice that you are playing out of tune you should practice until it's better and I certainly wouldn't put that on an instructional video. I appeared at gigs like this in the late eighties but I still played my bass in tune..
21. I don't pretend to have the answers but I surely didn't find them through Tony Franklin.. There's nothing worse than playing fretless out of tune. But he has a great signature bass, that I have to admit..
22.
That's a peach Clarky! I may be trading my fretted Custom for a fretless very soon!
And he did.. Got a Wal MKI Custom bass which appears to be made around 81-82 and was a custom model made for Roxy Music bassplayer Gary Tibbs if I remember correctly..? Bit of dings and dongs but it sounds great and it has all the nice Wal-ingredients.
