1. I always have at least one. Forgetting lyrics mainly... though last week I missed a G in the Sweet Child of Mine intro. Luckily only my Mrs noticed! The weird thing though, that night I had this vivid dream that I did the same thing in rehearsal and got so pissed off I smashed my bass against the wall. Had to check it was in one piece in the morning!! Anyone else had that kind of dream?
2. Bump. Photos available.
3. Just from my own experience - I am 20 now and have been playing for about 5 years. Jam nights really helped me along with my playing, there was this one particular guitarist who used to play at jams regularly (though unfortunately doesn't much now due to having cancer ) who would always take his folder with chord charts and playing off of these helped me to follow, then hold my own, then hold down and finally nail the songs. If there is someone at your local jam that does something similar then try and get up with them. Playing with different people each week has also helped me to develop skills for different genres - I wouldn't be half as good with Reggae and Funk if I didn't mix it up with the old boys at the jam! Hope this has helped with ideas, if not then have a hug ... and some beer
4.
3mm Big Stubby - mostly play with fingers though.
+1 Or sometimes if the stubbies have hidden themselves away (as picks often do in my house...) then I still have loads of 2mm Tortex lying around
5. What is your signal chain rushbo?
6.
My only complaint is the the dual jack/speakon outputs are a bit iffy. When the speakon locks into place, it has to be jiggled to get it to connect.
My Marshall MB450H does exactly the same thing. Perhaps it's a universal fault with speakon connections?
7. Still for sale
8. I think so, I'm pretty sure the III is not made in the UK. I thought I read it was made in India though? The only front panel difference seems to be the compressor, and if the jury is out on that then I think I'd rather get a II and a decent external compressor.
9.
If I was you I'd email him direct - he did give his address - and he may not be looking at this.
+1 Geraint is a top bloke, he sent me a new set no questions asked. I haven't actually used the replacements yet though as he also sent me some fancy new Helix SS strings which are now on my Precision. I'll get round to a review soon!!
10. Bump. £100, delivered for an extra £10
11. Thanks for the suggestions guys, the M9 looks quite interesting. Do you know whether anybody makes a Multi-FX which doesn't feature amp modelling and distortions? I'm only considering a multi-fx to cover filter/synth/compression/chorus/modulation etc etc

Big muff advice

It does have a bass boost setting as well remember, try that with the tone past 12. The problem I have with mine is that the toggle switch is broken in that position to I don't have any other option! It really comes in useful for dance tunes though, Tone at about 11:00, sustain at about 1:00 brings out some nice sub frequencies I use it with a Danelectro FAB chorus and it sounds deeper than the abyss itself!
13. Interesting... But I prefer to masturbate at home rather than onstage
14. You'd need the exact same bass, strings, amp, effects, EQ settings, compression, mixing console, playing technique etc etc. I wouldn't bother personally, find your own tone!
15. Hi Guys I'm wondering if there is a multi-fx unit out there with good synth/chorus/envelope filter/delay/octave type features (not worried about distortion/wah) which would fit onto a pedal board. Suggestions below please
16. Based in Penzance so might be a bit of a mission but he's a great chap. Top quality work and the price is very reasonable. http://www.guitardoctor.co.uk/
17. This is where it's handy to have a day job Insurance for my Micra is £660 with Elephant, but paying in monthly installments with the interest it works out at about £800+ so it's still not cheap
18. Kyuss Orange Goblin Bongzilla Goatsnake Slo Burn Slowwwwww and lowwwwww
19. I used to play in a brass band! Euphonium was my main instrument though I spent most of my time there on Trombone (tenor, unfortunately!). I also dabbled in the dark arts of Eb Tuba but I always struggled to get on with the bigger mouthpiece. It's a shame that I never owned my own Trombone though, I could pick up loads more gigs if I owned one - shame I don't have the funds to make the investment
20. Isn't Trace Elliott just a fancy term for muddy plonk? At least that's all I ever managed to get out of them. But then again, they were the amps in the college rehearsal rooms, which are a bit of an amp graveyard. Wouldn't mind trying a Trace properly to get a proper opinion, but I wouldn't hurry out to buy one (even if I had the cash!)
21.
Nice rant but I have to say it sounds like every time I've ever tried to use rotosounds.
Doing it wrong.
22. I saw my favourite at a jam night last night. Two "experienced" (60+) guitarists got up and spent ages puzzled as to why neither of them had any sound - turns out they had plugged their guitars into each other!
23. I went through a phase of installing a pickup cover on my Highway One P. I found it fine for playing fingerstyle, resting my thumb on the cover itself, and it's nice to rest your hand on when playing with a pick. I did find it got in the way when playing more lively stuff though. If I had a second precision I'd kit it out with pup and bridge covers and flats, just for those special occasions
24. I've tried Elites, Ernie Ball, GHS and D'Addario in the past but I always go back to Rotosounds. Worn in 66s, mmmmm.... Recently I've been trying Dean Markleys. NPS Roundcores are good but nobody in this country seems to sell them. After receiving some dud Blue Steels, I've just started using some brand new top-secret, not-yet-in-the-shops Helix HD SS strings (the A and E are also tapered) Review to follow once they're properly worn in
