1. Well it was a great night last night, we ended with the acoustic version of like a stone by Audioslave and the crowd seemed to really enjoy that. The highlight for me was when we were giving out our demo C.D's at the end, one kid had got his mom to ask us if we could give him a C.D because he liked us soo much but was too scared to approach us. We had a little chat with him and he just looked so inspired. Made me feel really great about the gig as even if the rest of the crowd didn't like it, at least one person really enjoyed it!
Dude, you should've told me earlier! Can't make it now Is it at the Harlequin? Newton Faulkner used to support my function band about 5 years ago when we played in the Feathers in Merstham, hehe. Small world
Yeh sorry Martin, it would have been great to see you again but i actually only found out about it on Thursday so we had two days to get our act together. Its been quite a crazy two days! It was actually held in the St Beads school hall. The lighting guy did an absolutly fantastic job turning the hall it into a professional looking stage. Faulkner was a great guy to talk to aswell, sooo chilled out and such a nice bloke.
2. O no doubt! I might try and get a few pointers from him as he used to be a fellow bass player aparantly!
3. My band have finally got ourselves a gig and we couldnt be happier. Its supporting the amazingly talanted Newton Faulkner at a charity gig in in about 18 hours. Im so excited about it and even though its only a 20 min set i can't wait to be playing in front of 500 people. So if anyone is going to a charity gig to see Faulkner in Redhill on Saterday evening then you will get to see us play acoustic versions of our songs and a few covers.
4. I built an Omni 15 a while ago but i never had time to actually slap some tolex over it all and thinking about it now im torn between the conventional Black covering or going for a White covering. Iv got black handles, cab corners and wheels and i think a contrast between the Black and White would look pretty sweet but it might get dirty WELL quick. So my question to you lot is; given the chance to cover you bass cab yourself, what colour tolex would you cover it all in?
5. You are an amazing photographist Lysdexia, amazing photos and a cracking bass! Good luck with the sale
6. WOW! this is a great read so far tombboy, looking forward to seeing more pictures and good luck with the rest of the build
7. If it feels like its a muscle type pain then cover you hand in some tiger balm! I used to use this stuff when I would sprain my ankle when skateboarding and id be able to get right back on and carry on kick flipping those stair sets!!
8.
Are those stainless steel? If you have gone from nickel to stainless streel strings, then they will feel rough and eat your fingers in comparison.
Ahh, that makes sense as the last set of strings I was using was some Nickel wound D'Addario strings and these are stainless steel. I'm going to get the Fast fret stuff anyway as there's a 1st time for everything
9. Ok so I bought a set of Roto Sound swing bass strings the other day and put them on just now. However these strings feel really quite rough I notice they stick to my hands more when I slide up/down the strings. I think it might just be a duff pack but is there anything I could put on them to make them feel more "slippery"
10. Haha, its late and iv had too much gin and juice whilst doing c/w! Well thats my excuse anyway
11. I think id have to agree on that Hamster, i didn't know much about Lakland until earlier this year. In fact i didn't know Lakland even existed till earlier this year and now id take one over a Fender ANY day. I have a 1975 Fender jazz and that just doesn't even compare in the slightest. looks cool but no where near the same league TBH.
12.
I really love my Lakland 5 string - so fantastic at everything, but I'd grab the Stingray 4 - it just feels/sounds so right. It's my sound.
+1 i have a Lakland Jo5 and its just suburb! I get so many tones out of it and with my Gk head, i can set the eq to give it a bit more of an edge. Im not sure i NEED another bass but il still get another one when i have the money
13. cheers matey thats machine is simply awesome, lakland continue to amaze me. I might even check my Lakland in to get it PLEK'ed up. only $125 for the job, set up and new strings! Any idea when your bass will arrive?
14. Looks lovely! now Excuse my ignorance but what is a PLEK machine?
15.
MB1. Now its either that bloke looks like Gary Glitter?....or....this bass is a sh*tt*r(large possibility as the bongo looks like a toilet seat)....or.....its Cockney Rhyming slang for a pint of bitter?..... or.....ALL 3.....You Decide!
Haha MB1, you never fail to make me laugh. This new prototype looks horrible IMO. I reckon it could look better with a solid colour and matching headstock but then again, its only a prototype at the mo.
16. Wow, i didn't know this type of Fender existed and i love it! if i had a spare £650 it would be going to you matey, have a bump on me and good luck with the sale
17. Ahh dammit, if I hadn't bought new shoes the other day, I would have taken this with an instant!!! Bloody shoes.
18. Iv loved every minute with this amp but I want to try out some valve amps *cough* Ampeg *cough*. Im open to any decent amp with valves as well as long as its in good condition and works perfectly. My tuner and amp are in brilliant condition with no problems whatsoever. Specs of the amp can be found ---> Here Specs of the tuner can be found ---> Here Pics: the rack case will of course be included Im looking to do a straight trade ideally but if the right cash offer comes up im always open to go with that. So what have you got basschatters?! Mike
19. Guys, i had one of these not so long ago and if your a P-bass player these basses are absolutely fantastic and at this price its a gem! Dave, it looks fabulous with the Black scratch plate. I too have a thing about red and black basses, my red Jo5 looks just like the jazz featured a few posts above. Good luck with with sale matey
20.
They used to be below the strings because back then, bassists played "thumb-style" rather than "finger-style".
Ahh it all makes sense now! I could never understand why there were thumb rests under the strings.
21. Thats a fantastic bass you've got there! i love white basses and this is one of the nicest IMO. I got a lakland jo5 with Lindsey fralins in it but im thinking about swapping them out for some Bartolinis.
22. dude, il take the 2 heavy duty steel handles. Pm me your paypal address and il send the money quick fast!
23. Im very interested matey, Could you get some pics up?
24. I had a tiebreaker with Flea and Wooten getting 83% on both but then again im not even close to being as good as either of them. O well
