4. Seriously nice smith!! love it, gutted im having to get rid of mine!!!
5. I will have one of these one day just amazing!!!
6. my goodness, i want that red quilt one, gorgeous!!!
7. Hi everybody It is with a very heavy heart that i do this, but as my finances are getting beyond my control im forced to part with my beautiful Ken Smith BSR5 mw, ive been holding back from selling this for a while as whenever i gig this bass im grinning from ear to ear!! It is bolt on constuction and features a very nice flamed maple centre core with a black walnut top and back with mahogany (i think) stringers in the body, also has a morado fingerboard( a harder form of rosewood which has a brighter sound generally) this model has the old style 9 volt 3 band preamp and smith humbuckers, string spacing is a very comfy 18mm and has the slimmest neck and lowest action of any 5 ive ever played. The sound is very precise and focused, with a modern but very warm tone and a sweet treble response which makes for a great slap sound. Conditionwise it is pretty much mint, it has one small ding on the bottom of the body and i tiny bit of buckle rash on the back. It comes with the smith branded hardcase ( disclaimer- one of the catches was damaged in transit to me, but it still closes fine)I will be wanting a very firm £1600 for it, i would prefer pick up only due to the expensive nature of the bass(best to try if shelling out that kind of cash), but will post at buyers expense if really neccesary, really sorry but no international sales please. I will be in the market for a replacement 5 string and cash my way- i would be interested in Musicman stingrays (pref maple fingerboard) Warwicks- BO or NT Streamers overwater perception spector euro sadowsky metro link to more pics further down the thread!
8. Thought this would sell, i had one of these many years ago, i was my fir and it wss my 1st foray in the 5 string world, i loved it and not long after upgraded to the nathan east model, great to have if a 5 isnt your thing but could do with one for a song or two- congrats to the new owner
9. that my friend is a thing of great beauty and im pretty sure it sounds as good as it looks, been interested in overwater for a while, i tried a perception at promenade music and i was very smitten with it at the time, i concur with the bolt on thing ive always preferred the punchy sound of a BO just love em- great bass you must be very proud
10. oohhh ive wanted one of these for a while, very happy with my tri 110,s but ive always wanted 2x whappo jnrs, always had a thing for 4x12,s, but skint though, great cab, these dont appear often - bump!!!
11. Thats bloody lovely Andy!! ive been doing some research on the burners myself and the stuff ive seen on youtube ( playing aside) the tone is fantastic, really really good basses, i bet your dead chuffed, whats the top wood on that is it walnut? i will wager its very very close to the USA smiths, probably too close for kens liking anyway probably doesnt need it, but i wonder if those nordstrands you have would benefit it congrats on a great buy, we must meet up with matt (overwater #1) and compare smiths, he,s got a posh black tiger!!
12. ive got to have one of these, in particular the mint green with maple board- ooooohhhh!!!! just love it - bump
13.
buy a few really good condition early JV squiers.
+1 these are fantastic basses, i will keep mine forever, probably wont be worth anything though as ive messed about with it too much
14. absolutely brilliant, i watch this a lot with my 2 year old daughter, but havent seen this one, crazy!!! stuart was a big influence on my playing as a youngster, id only just started playing when i heard "to young to die" it blew my mind great line and a fantastic dirty tone, the zingzillas are great and introduce childen to a lot of diffent music/instruments, i will put my evie off panzies bass though!!
15. I love my IGIG but i WILL!!!! have a harvest cow marble one day!!!! very sexy!!
16. The ones Bernie goodfellow is selling are the harvest ones, which are very expensive (but gorgeous) but he was selling them at last years bass day for £220 which is a fantastic price i was well sick as id just bought an igig bag ( £160 from bass direct) but thay are fantastic too, so all is well, i can really recommend the igig loads of pockets and very tough and most importantly the tweed one looks very cool
17.
Doh! I have them for sale for a month then all of a sudden 3 people are interested/want them.
Ha ha i know John!! i,d only just noticed them the other day, have been weighing up the finances!! hope your well mate
18. shame i fancied these myself, ive gone back to hi beams from sunbeams, i dont like the feel of steel but i like the zippy sound, the fatbeams are great too, but i got some hi beams in a deal and they work very well with my smith!!
19. Ooooooohhhh!!! there are some seriously fantastic basses floating about for sale of late, must be xmas coming up, just gorgeous!!
20. well well!!! so not surprised, if it were a 5 id have been doing some serious reshuffling!! congrats to the new owner!!!!
21. never did hear back from you regarding my smith offer hey ho, all for the best!!! bump for a lovely looking overwater!!!!
22. Id love to try a NT smith, this could be the one to make me want a six, its even got nice knobs retrofitted, the original ones dont do justice to stupidly expensive basses,(will change mine as soon as i can ) this is the bargain of the week by a long way, just stunning!!!! oh and your right the B string is fantastic!! better than the yamaha and warwick 5,s ive owned previously!!!
23. 5th ken smith of the week, get em now folks wont be anymore for a while, this is gorgeous, if i didnt have one i,d take your arm off- bump
24. i think it looks great, i do prefer yours or VW.s old flamed maple one, i was lucky enough to have a go on a friends Monarch, lovely bass, but i doubt id fork out £7k for one , did try out a bolt on version in Mannys in new york and it was really nice!!
25. just gorgeous. i love it!!!!!
