That is lovely, and think the colour is great, ive got a cij 62 re precision in that colour, its great a bit of a pino on a tight budget, i would love to try the pino, congrats on a great find!! - all the best - lee

Hi guys was a massive fan, growing up and my faves are "hours by the window" from true colours( beautiful chordal work) "the sun goes down" and kansas city milkman" bloody hell not a slap lines in sight his fingerstyle and chordal playing is exceptional and he,s not known for it, love him a big influence!!!

Hi guys Ive got the kent armstrong"vintage hot" precision pickup in my CIJ fender p , it sounds fine and probably better than the original japenese pickup, has a nice warm sound but has a lot of mids, but hey its a p bass!!! am currently saving for a nordstrand np4 but TBH it probably wont sound that much better for the money!!! worth using for the money very good value!!! all the best - lee

Louis did move over to Musicmans, but in conjunction with his P-Basses as well, especially on a lot of Michael Jackson and George Benson stuff.[/quote] Hi guys Louis johnson used a p bass early on, and had input in the development of the musicman stingray which he used on pretty much everything he did,(although i believe he used yamaha for a while) he shared bass duties on the micheal jackson records with bobby watson (from the band rufus) who used a 62 precision (on "rock with you") also he did the george benson stuff, as well as abraham laboriel who used either a p bass or a goya panther (very similar sound to a p). as far as i know bernard edwards used both musicman and BC rich eagle basses (both now owned by duran durans john taylor), but in those days as you correctly point out a precision was a session requirement, you cant beat a good jazz bass though!!! i love em!! al the best - lee

I remember "rock city" very fondly when i was a pup of 14 years old i discovered the electric guitar, i had my school work experience coming up and i remember going in and talking to a nice chap called Jared (who i believe worked/works) for sounds live in newcastle and very kindley got me a place there for a week, it was the catalyst for my love of the bass guitar as i didnt know they existed prior to my visit, i remember i picked up a bass for the first time it was a yamaha if i recall and immediatley fell in love, but not as much as the gorgeous warwick six string streamer they had in all nicely lit and in pride of place, i suppose they were fairly new to the country then and i thought it was the most beautiful thing id ever seen!!!! ive played various warwick streamers over the last 11 years and that instrument was the reason, i was also very fond of a washburn acoustic bass which i used to annoy the staff with as i couldnt play it, i had a great time there and i was given a load of catalogues of warwick and kramer basses which i stuck all over my bedroom wall. That was 21 years ago man im getting old, sorry to waffle, just loved the story and it brought back a load of memories , i was also very briefly the bass player for thomas mcrocklin who i believe works at sounds live, bought a few thing there in the past always nice guys willing to help. anyway keep rockin my fellow geordies - lee

My favourite string has always been nickel!! i used steels a long time ago when my gear was less than stellar and wanted a brighter tone, steels just sound harsh to me now, for a very long time i used d,addario xl,s which are nickel plated steel and ive always found them to have a nice balance between warmth and zing as they have a nice brightness to them ( and are fairly reasonably priced) my favourite string for sheer quality of tone and balance is the DR sunbeam absolutely lovely sound and tend to work well with most basses, i know it sounds daft but ive found that some brands of string sound better on diffrent basses for example i used elites steels for a while and quite liked them on my jazz, but when i got my first warwick i stopped using them as i found the brighter sound of the warwick just didnt suit them IMO but when i put d,addarios on, the bass came to life. I am back using the d,addarios for financial reasons as i like to change them fairly regularly and having 4 basses means DR SUNBEAMS are just too pricey, will get a set for special gigs though!!! Anyway everyone loves the DR,s give em a go!!! - all the best - lee

He was my first teacher too!! nice fella got me on the reading path which is currently standing me in good stead with the local theatre circuit, he introduced me to his wife with his affecionate nickname for me which was "f***PIG!!!" it would be nice to chat with him again and say thank you. I Love NZ!!! Its a beautiful place, i remember going to a great little cafe in christchurch that had jazz on and did great pizzas, sat in the garden in the sun a lovely day!!!, anyway good luck mate i hope the work picks up so you can buy loads more posh basses, im a bit jealous actually i would love to relocate my family there, as my wife and i really fell in love with the place, i dont think NZ needs any bass players who work in banking but ont worry im a nice guy and im skint too!!!. good luck again crazykiwi - lee
