I had the Fortune of playing for bucks fizz while david van day was with them, we played a few of dollars hits and didnt realise it may have been pino on those tracks, some lovely lines that i had to sight read needless to say i sh*t myself but it was fine and bobby and david were pleased, but yes David van day is the most irritating peson ive ever met and has a face you want to smack. The moral of this story Pino is the man and made everything he played on sound great ( not sure if it was actually pino on the dollar records though , id never heard of them before i playedthem). Hi John My Music stuff via ebay do the sunbeams in sets of two that work out £40 delivered, i only used the company once to get few sets of sunbeams it took a week to get to and they cocked up my order, when i emailed them they were not only unapologetic about my inconvinience they were rude. so im a bit reluctant to use them again, they did sort it out after another week and A half, i just use strings direct and have gone back to d,addario xl,s as they are half the cost, nowhere near the sunbeams though love em.-lee It looks like Thomann are about the cheapest for the Sunbeams @ £22... anyone found cheaper?

I think EBS make a titanium bass string, but ive not tried them and i havent seen them for sale anywhere, would really be interested to know if anyone has used them, id love a string somewhere between nickel and steel that would be great. However, I fancy speculating if these new technologies will make it on to bass strings, and more importantly if they do, will they offer a new area of sound from our standard two materials, as steels are bright and zingy generally, whereas nickel are a bit more mellow and warmer. Having a quick look around, doesn't seem as if anyone else makes titanium strings, there might be a resoning behind that... [b]So, what do you think folks, if they eventually make a bass version, will they sound alreet? [/b] Personally I think with Titanium being a harder metal than steel that they'll sound even harsher and brighter, but that's only a guess

If the 2x10 is 4 ohms your still getting 450 watts, plenty of power, and some 2x10,s can be quite punchy, i actully used it once with one accugroove tri 1x10 running at 8 ohms so i was only getting 260 watts it managed only just but with the twoaccugrooves at 4 ohms loud as hell, but the natural sound means you dont have to be poud to cut through, never had the pleasure of running it at 2 ohms for the full 650 watts, Josh has though bet you can hear him on the isle of wight the ampeg will probably sound great too ditto about the weight being worth it, if i didnt need abit of cash to pay stamp on my new house(which was abolished 3 weeks later ) i wouldnt have got rid of mine- lee Just noticed you're using a TD650 and 2x 2x10's. If I was looking at a more portable rig for practise, could I safely run the TD650 through 1 2x10?

HA Ha Kenny potter was my first bass tutor fantastic guy started me off really well, i later studied with Keith Peberdy who is amazing , i can also recommend both Neil Harland and i was at Newcastle college with stevie Ireland who is great, also worth checking out is Andy Champion who is fantastic. All of these guys are currently teaching in and around TOON!!!! all of these guys are professional highly skilled players who will teach you properly ( which if needed usually means starting in the first position ) im sure you can get all their numbers from the local music shops in newcastle, its always worth having recommendations to a name as i know newcastle has about 50 million BASS teachers!!!!!!. good luck with the search- lee I'm sure I'll upset a whole bunch of bass tutors by just mentioning ONE more but Kenny Potter is worth checking out!

I had an EBS TD650 for quite a while, and it is the best amp ive ever used and i miss it greatly, it is more than loud enough for any situation soundwise the HD350 is very similar, but the valve in the 650 just gives it a lot more warmth and guts, it has a great tube overdrive which i think will be right up your alley, but trust me try it with a Proline 4x10 youll never be buried in the mix again it is a very heavy rig to cart about so i hope you dont do too many upstairs gigs, the weight was the reasoin i had to get rid of it, asi only play in theatres and it used to scare woodwind players hee hee . Highly recommended quality gear, ive never tried a fafner but i heard they are a lot warmer with a very tubey sound, so trying one of those would be a good idea. Good luck with the search- lee

Hey the cat is actually ignoring the bass cabs, i have three cats and its their job to try and rip my accugroove cabs to shreds, i love em though Common as muck that Markbass stuff - a truly easy rig to transport though, one cab is all I ever need for rehearsals [attachment=16609:IMGP1663.jpg]

+1 once you play warwicks for a while you dont notice the thick necks, i have played various warwicks for the last ten years and ive played soul, jazz,latin, pop, blues, country, funk, hard rock, classical, show tunes and ballroom (but no reggae, im sh*t at reggae) and they,ve worked in every situation ive been presented, the early versions have fantastic thin necks, warwickhunt now plays a beautiful red warwick streamer from 90 that he originally owned and i owned for nearly five years, the neck on that bass is the slimmest ive ever played. I also bought new in 98 a streamer lx4 and that had a fantastic thin neck, so if you like thin necks get an old warwick, if you dont mind a bit of meat (precisions are very chunky too!!) get a newer one, they still have a great growl and sound great ,a quality instrument and worthy of all players attention. Anyway each to thier own if you dont like warwicks fine!!! i personally use warwick, fender and musicman basses and am very lucky to have these diffrent sounds at my disposal but at the end of the day its in our hands!!!! thats were the magic is, i just need a nice fender precision and a six string yamaha trb and ill have "ALL BASSES COVERED" no pun intended. keep groovin everone- lee
