1. I still smile when i see that bass I owned this red warwick streamer for nearly five years and its great, but i never loved it as much as warwickhunt does (he owned it before me) the irony is ive played warwick streamers for ten years, and i only used them because i wanted a spector and thought i couldnt afford one, great design and fantastic whatever you use , both are great basses whichever you use- lee The impostor and the originator... <edit> I've yet to bling the Spector out with the new gold knobs that I have.
2. Dealt with Kevin twice now, he,s kind enough to sell me his old tasty cables, absolute joy to deal with and a friendly knowlegable guy, items arrived quickly and very well packaged, deal with confidence, he,s a gent all the best - lee
3. I must say im really liking the xmas porny avatars that are popping up, its getting me in the xmas spirit, oh and Jaco = God!!! IMO!!! MERRY XMAS EVERYONE-LEE!!!!!! After 20 odd years of listening to him and thank god for You Tube, being able to see him, he has always messed with my sensibilities of what it is to be a bass guitarist. Bi Polar disorder, incredible stamina, a musical knowledge of unimaginable proportions and thinking that you are it and a bit = Jaco
4. +1 on the DR sunbeams- just gorgeous!!!!
5. Thats my dream bass, right there in the flesh, damn being poor!!!!! Huge bump for a thing of great beauty-lee Aye, very like the upside down Hamer headstock on their Chapparel 5 strings. Why couldn't they put all the other tuners in line with this tho? That's what I want to know! Anyhoo, sorry for the thread hijack, lovely bas
6. HA HA thats really good!! lee
7. Dont suppose you,d interested in a part trade for a warwick streamer jazzman 5 string in burgundy red, at all - lee Remember £800 includes the footswitch, rack ears and Epifani padded carry bag too.
8. I think EBS make a titanium bass string, but ive not tried them and i havent seen them for sale anywhere, would really be interested to know if anyone has used them, id love a string somewhere between nickel and steel that would be great. I await any news with baited breath- lee So, EBMM have just released some new strings (for our skinny brethren), News on UG.com. However, I fancy speculating if these new technologies will make it on to bass strings, and more importantly if they do, will they offer a new area of sound from our standard two materials, as steels are bright and zingy generally, whereas nickel are a bit more mellow and warmer. Having a quick look around, doesn't seem as if anyone else makes titanium strings, there might be a resoning behind that... So, what do you think folks, if they eventually make a bass version, will they sound alreet? Personally I think with Titanium being a harder metal than steel that they'll sound even harsher and brighter, but that's only a guess
9. As a relocated geordie, its a damn shame ive A) missed the bass bash and couldnt get down there anyway and C) i use an eden wt 550 which is really nice, sounds great but has a bit too many buttons for my taste, if your ever in the Bolton?manchester area giz a Pm and you can come and try it and have a cuppa and talk RUBBISH!!! all the best - lee Difficult, when I've spent the last 4 days holed up on the sofa with only Bargain Hunt and Top Gear repeats to keep me company
10. If the 2x10 is 4 ohms your still getting 450 watts, plenty of power, and some 2x10,s can be quite punchy, i actully used it once with one accugroove tri 1x10 running at 8 ohms so i was only getting 260 watts it managed only just but with the twoaccugrooves at 4 ohms loud as hell, but the natural sound means you dont have to be poud to cut through, never had the pleasure of running it at 2 ohms for the full 650 watts, Josh has though bet you can hear him on the isle of wight the ampeg will probably sound great too ditto about the weight being worth it, if i didnt need abit of cash to pay stamp on my new house(which was abolished 3 weeks later ) i wouldnt have got rid of mine- lee Just noticed you're using a TD650 and 2x 2x10's. If I was looking at a more portable rig for practise, could I safely run the TD650 through 1 2x10?
11. HA Ha Kenny potter was my first bass tutor fantastic guy started me off really well, i later studied with Keith Peberdy who is amazing , i can also recommend both Neil Harland and i was at Newcastle college with stevie Ireland who is great, also worth checking out is Andy Champion who is fantastic. All of these guys are currently teaching in and around TOON!!!! all of these guys are professional highly skilled players who will teach you properly ( which if needed usually means starting in the first position ) im sure you can get all their numbers from the local music shops in newcastle, its always worth having recommendations to a name as i know newcastle has about 50 million BASS teachers!!!!!!. good luck with the search- lee I'm sure I'll upset a whole bunch of bass tutors by just mentioning ONE more but Kenny Potter is worth checking out!
12. Aye mate your right!!! looks like ive missed the boat eh! not surprised, no matter maybe next year- take care- lee Hope things are going well Lee. New baby AND new house... you might be a bit optimistic to have ANY funds, at any time in the next 21 years. I'm not about to start throwing basses out of the house so you never know it may still be here next year. Have a good one mate.
13. I had an EBS TD650 for quite a while, and it is the best amp ive ever used and i miss it greatly, it is more than loud enough for any situation soundwise the HD350 is very similar, but the valve in the 650 just gives it a lot more warmth and guts, it has a great tube overdrive which i think will be right up your alley, but trust me try it with a Proline 4x10 youll never be buried in the mix again it is a very heavy rig to cart about so i hope you dont do too many upstairs gigs, the weight was the reasoin i had to get rid of it, asi only play in theatres and it used to scare woodwind players hee hee . Highly recommended quality gear, ive never tried a fafner but i heard they are a lot warmer with a very tubey sound, so trying one of those would be a good idea. Good luck with the search- lee
14. AHHHH John!! Thats fantastic, ive been gassing for a p bass for a long time now and that would be perfect, it would complement my other basses fantastically, you should hang on to it till my finances improve if indeed that ever happens.(BABIES FIRST XMAS!!!!) the wife is very much of a mind ive too many as is but what does she know. Massive bump for a bargain someone (hopefully me) will be very happy with. have a good xmas John - lee TBH if it doesn't sell 'fairly' quickly, I'll probably just put it to one side till after the Christmas when credit cards have recovered a bit... hopefully () Then I may as well stick it on eBay, however it does seem fair to offer it back on here first!
15. Hey the cat is actually ignoring the bass cabs, i have three cats and its their job to try and rip my accugroove cabs to shreds, i love em though Common as muck that Markbass stuff - a truly easy rig to transport though, one cab is all I ever need for rehearsals
16. An absolute beauty, your very lucky, i totally love old JV squiers as i have and its great , im really gassing for a precision at the mo and that would be very nive addition if i could afford it . all the best- lee Yeh, that's a nice early example. Easy to see why Fender soon changed the logo's around on later models!
17. AAARRRRRGGGGGG I traded my TD 650 5 months ago otherwise i wouldve took your arm off, The EBS is very special though, have a bump ,bit too skint to buy it, huge bargain!!!! cheers- lee Actually as I am gassing for an EBS TD650 would consider a trade for the 650 or the 350 plus cash my way. Thanks Steve
18. AAWWW COME ON!!!! This is such a bargain, used to have one of these and if it was,nt for the fact it was far to powerful for the gigs im doing, idstill have it, the best 4x10 ive ever used , massive bump for a fantastic cab at a really low price, very big warm and clear sound. BUY IT!!!! lee
19. +1 once you play warwicks for a while you dont notice the thick necks, i have played various warwicks for the last ten years and ive played soul, jazz, latin, pop, blues, country, funk, hard rock, classical, show tunes and ballroom (but no reggae, im sh*t at reggae) and they,ve worked in every situation ive been presented, the early versions have fantastic thin necks, warwickhunt now plays a beautiful red warwick streamer from 90 that he originally owned and i owned for nearly five years, the neck on that bass is the slimmest ive ever played. I also bought new in 98 a streamer lx4 and that had a fantastic thin neck, so if you like thin necks get an old warwick, if you dont mind a bit of meat (precisions are very chunky too!!) get a newer one, they still have a great growl and sound great ,a quality instrument and worthy of all players attention. Anyway each to thier own if you dont like warwicks fine!!! i personally use warwick, fender and musicman basses and am very lucky to have these diffrent sounds at my disposal but at the end of the day its in our hands!!!! thats were the magic is, i just need a nice fender precision and a six string yamaha trb and ill have "ALL BASSES COVERED" no pun intended. keep groovin everone- lee
20. Hi everyone bought this off a fellow basschatter recently, and really messed up, this is the aguilar obp 3 with the push/pull midrange but has five pots vol/blend/treb/mid/bass i got this to fit on my jazz bass thinking i can just get a dual concentric and fit the whole thing into the four pots on my jazz, alas ive been waiting nearly six weeks and my tech still cant source a dual 50k pot and the only place i can get one will prob make it more expensive than buying a new one so ive decided to sack it off and keep the EMG system until i can afford to buy a j retro deluxe which will fit straight in no bother so if anyone has a bass with five pots or doesnt mind drilling more holes you can have this for £60 posted, i also will still have the EMG JV jazz pickups with vol pots and chrome knobs for £40 ill do the whole lot for £95 posted. all the best- lee ps. if anyone has an aguilar obp 1 or 2 ill do a straight swap, or will swap the preamp and pickups for an audere or east preamp
21. "Forget me nots" as played on a p bass by "ready freddie washington" who now plays ken smiths just like crazykiwi cool!!!! Yes you're absolutely right, and I knew that but didn't check my typing before pressing the post button.
22. Slight price reduction only a little, i know everyones skint and cant take on projects, it,ll be a shame if these are lying around, If you own a squire modified fretless these are for you!!!- all the best- lee Hi everyone My jazz is off to the tech tomorrow for new stuff to be fitted, so as of this week the current pickups and circuit will be available, Emg jv jazz pickups are the vintage style with exposed pole pieces designed to replicate the faded sound of a vintage instrument but with no noise, they are very diffrent to the usual EMG pickups as they have alnico 5 magnets ( as opposed to ceramic) and have a lovely warm fat sound with a very prominent midrange, they would actually be a perfect replacement for fretless fender jazz, particularly MIM or the Squire modified fretless jazz as they have a certain tone regardless of instrument i.e they dont rely too much on the sound of wood. Also an EMG BTS bass/treble on seperate pots,(it is set at vol, vol, treble, bass 4 pots) does what it says on the tin, it has two dip switches inside to set the treble frequency there are four to choose from, not sure what they are but info should be available online, comes with all pots and chrome knurled knobs, this system will really pimp up your jazz or any bass with jazz style pickups as i said would be great on fretless. Im after £90 posted for the lot, the pickups are £175 new and the circuit £80 so that sounds about right to me, giz a PM if your interested or need any info. thanks for looking- lee Will get some proper pics up when they are out and i have them, this is what they look like installed, i have a four control layout with a jack on the bottom which i like, i also installed a battery compartment, a dual concentric will be easy t fit and not expensive if you want to keep the three pot arrangemant and the battery fits fine under the control plate(but it is a pain when changing batteries which isnt often with the EMG,S low power draw). hope this answers any queries people have had these are a bargain and will benefit your MIM & CIJ
23. Had a feeling it was you mick. ive dealt with this gentleman an absolute star, and was lucky enough to have a go of his fodera victor wooton, i assume you dont have that one anymore, loving the Richard bona. Sorry, Been grafting away from home this week so wasn't really in a position to check the listing a lot. Smith basses, beautiful things! However the sale was intended to raise dosh for another purchase so thank you for your kind comments and interest. I've decided to hang on to the Fodera
