  1. USA Musicman Stingray 5HH, in the long discontinued Honeyburst. This has the usual Ash body,Very slim/shallow maple neck and is an Early 2006 model HH The pickups are both series, so sounds exactly like a Stingray, but with more Midrange and less scoop (dialling down the mids and boosting the bass and treble gives that classic scooped tone) The single coil and other pickup modes sound cool too, the two single outercoil setting is almost like a Rickenbacker, while the inner coils have a tight smooth sound (Jazz ish but more it's own sound). Both pickups on is like a huge modern sounding Ken Smith/G&L esq tone, while the front pickup is like a cleaner Gibson Neck pickup vibe, very deep and great for 60's and 70s rock tones. The pickup wiring is the same as the USA Sterling 5HH as demo'd by Ed freidland It weighs 4.9kg / 10.8lbs. There is a small chip in the rear by the strap pin, one on the bottom horn, and one on the bottom edge of the bass, other than that it's in really really good condition. It was originally shipped to Guitar Center,I believe a previous owner bought it in the states during a trip there. I've Recently had a new Dark Red Tortoise Guard fitted, although I still have the darker original Tort, which will be included. It will ship with the OHSC and has a brand new set strings fitted. Sold
  2. I think that bass, is the same one I owned, then sold to you, I recognise some of the songs 😂. Great bass, just the 35" is too much for me these days.
  3. That's the bargain of the century!! Such fantastic basses.
  4. Apologies! I thought I'd closed this 😁 I'm sure you know, the Lovely Admiralchew bought it. Cool Star Wars etching aside, this was one of the best Muff based Fuzzes I've used.
  5. I'm wondering if the Sterling Stingray has the pick up wired in series ( I vaguely recall it does,I may be wrong, but would explain OP's mid heavy tone) my USA Ray 5HH has the back pickup in series and it has a darker more vintage tone with a lot of boosted mids. The paralell setting usually has a lot of boosted Highs and lows, thus scooping the mids. I pull the mids right back and boost the bass and treble, it gets me close to the parallel tone. When I use both pickups on though, it has a modern slightly Ken Smith esq tone and I have to push those mids back up.
  6. Gorgeous Bass! And dare I say a much better buy than the many Peter Hook reissues , currently going for daft money.
  7. Very nice indeed! I was very close to buying one of these myself recently 😁
  8. I love that! So cool and a fantastic finish. I've recently bought my first short scale, since I started playing 32 years ago. You've inspired me,to put a review on myself 😁
  9. Don't think I've put mine on here yet. Here's my 2006 Stingray 5HHin Honeyburst. This is an early run,so the back pickup is wired in series nor parallel. It still got that unmistakable ray bounce and growl but its a smoother/darker sound nd with the other pickup ive found it a really useful tone. They changed it to parallel wiring in 2008 I think when they released the Sterling 5HH which see the series settings. It had a Dark Tortoise Guard on it,but I've recently has a Dark red one made as I feel it complements the finish bètter.
  10. Used a GK MB210II combo for a while. 350watts in 2x10 speakers and 500 with extension. Sounds great, very clear tone, but using the boost volume adds a nice bit of grit. It has a really nice look too,not too modern. I recently joined a rock covers band with 2 guitars, so bought a matching CX115 cab, to get the full 500 watts. My one gripe is it's so damn heavy, so not sure how long I'll continue with this setup, but it really does sound great.
  11. Wow I love that! I have guitar version,I didn't know they did a bass. I wish the modern reissues looked like this. Sort of a Spectory P bass 😁
  12. Not as huge as some collections, but I got mine out of the rack for a family photo 😁 From left to right -Yamaha BB425 Vintage White (with a 2025 bridge) -Musicman Stingray 5HH Honeyburst -Yamaha BB1024 Tobacco burst -Spector Euro LX4 Ultra Amber - 82 JV Squire jazz Olympic White (with Nordstrand NJ4) Middle -Sire U5 Marcus Miller short scale Mint -80's Kay short scale white
  13. That Is a very lovely thing indeed!
  14. Hi Chris The T70 (like it's little brother the T65) has a dirty Octave up feature,to add presence and bite to a band mix (like an Octavia fuzz). It's also well documented that this octave up doesn't really dial out of the tone, when when set to 0. Tom's always marketed this as a synth engine rather than a standard octave pedal, and his speciality is dirt even in his octaves. For clean standard octave the Cog T16/T47 is the one to get. Trust me, put a filter in its loop and you'll get a great dynamic synth tone. If you want it looked at to be sure, I've used Owen electronics based In Manchester. Hes very good with Analog pedals (he doesn't do digital) and charges a standard fee (about £11 as I recall) to look at it and correct minor issues, but more if needed. So it'll at least cost that, plus your postage to and back.
  15. The Stingray has the dark Red Tort and the BB1024 has the Vintage Dark Tort (which is a very dark Burgundy)
  16. The printed ones look Awful IMO! Certainly up close, it's what they put on all the cheap Fenders. So theyve offered you another not as good guard for free, but you've still spent £40 more, than if you'd bought two guards from Earlpilanz. That's rubbish,if you hadn't removed the plastic covering, you should still be able to return for a refund. If you bought on online does DSR not apply in this situation?
  17. Tim doesn't do Tortoise, his graphics and solid stuff is good, but no Bevel.
  18. Yes I've recently used Brian Pilanz (earlpilanz on ebay) and he's got a few shades of Celluloid Tortoise. I had contacted Tiny Tone but I didn't like their colours, and they came out twice the price of Earlpilanz or Bass Doc. I had a Dark red Tort and vintage Tort from Brian and my old Jazz had a Bass Doc. I know which type you mean without much yellow as it's what I was after. The only place I've seen that was Spitfire$$$$$$$$$ Below is Earlpilanz colour choice, I suspect they'll all have too much yellow for you. BTW - both these guards were £30 posted and I had them within a few day, including the BB when I sent a template, highly recommended. He also does little samples of his Tort on EBay for £1.99 (cheaper if you buy more) so you can "Try before you buy"
  19. I acquired this a while ago, with the intention of fixing it up and learning guitar. As with most things done on a whim, it's sat there with no strings gathering dust. Due to Recent Wrist issues means I've bought a short Scale bass, so I'm selling my Squier ST335 TRD Boxer Series Stratocaster- Black Made In Japan approx 1985. It has a basswood body, maple neck/rosewood and two fender Dragster Humbuckers,it's very well made as all MIJ instruments from thst period are. This guitar has been very well gigged, with lots of dints and scrapes and mojo for days. It's a road warrior, that's been played a lot and obviously loved. The hardware, pickups, pots, switch all work as they should( you can hear this when plugged in) however there's a massive buzz and it intermittently goes off. It definately needs a new Barrel Jack and the wiring done properly,as it looks loose from the Jack. It also really could do with a fret dress. This is probably an easy fix for a tech and shouldn't cost much to have done, I'm rubbish and soldering is beyond me 😂 I have just put on a brand new set of D'addario 10's though. You can tell it's got a great tone, and reviews online suggest the humbuckers are very single coil like in tone, with both on,it does remind me of a telecaster, very twangy 😁 This Guitar need some TLC and someone who will love it and give it a life again. This black colour is apparently more scarce than the usual red/white versions, I've looked at these online and they are selling for the usual MIJ money ( £500-£800), so id like £275 including a decent Gig bag and UK only delivery. Sold
  20. Just what I'm looking for, but gear to sell first 🙄
  21. Ongoing wrist issues means I need to get a short scale bass, in order to continue playing. As I don't have the funds to buy outright, I need to sell some bits (no pun intended 😂) With a heavy heart I'm offering my Iron Ether Frantabit Bit crusher/Sample Rate Reducer. This is such a mental pedal,That's also incredibly musical. It has two modes the first Degrade offers the usual Digital Bit/SRR and has a lot of variety. The Second Obliterate is a kind of a Digital recreation of an Analog version of the effect???? In short it's insane!! Many many sounds Available from both modes. Clavinet type tones/crazy Distortion/8 bit computer sounds/quasi Tremolo,Helicopters,Mad robot Bees, octave tones, experimentation yields lots of weird and wonderful sounds. This has had an issue with the DC input which I had professionally repaired. But also had a much better quality part fitted as apparently the original type used is prone to damage. He had to fit it on the side , the original has been repaired,so it can actuslly be powered from two places as the original still works. In Fantastic condition and working perfectly, in a very attractive finish (each ones different, but I've noticed Frantabits are often Black) This is a reluctant sale, and if I can raise funds in another way, I'll happily withdraw. No box and high quality Velcro on the bottom. SOLD
